as I have posted before let me share this again, many people twist 1cor 13:8 and say that the Bible teaches that tongue and prophecy has ceased: 1co 13:8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.1co 13:9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.1co 13:10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
and Clearly it does say that they will cease but it also tell us in verse 10 when they will cease " when that which is perfect is come" now some will say that this was when Jesus came as a Babe in the manger, but this can't be bibical because Jesus prophecized about His death, many will say that that which was perfect came as the Holy Spirit at pentecost, but bibical prophecy had not ceased at pentecost for Phillip prophecized to paul after pentecost.
Ac 21:8And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.Ac 21:9And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.Ac 21:10And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.Ac 21:11And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.Ac 21:12And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
and there was tongues given after pentecost also
Ac 19:6And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.Ac 19:7And all the men were about twelve.
so to say that these two gifts ended in the bible days, is to just to go against the Word itself. I did have one Bible scholar tell me that which is perfect come, meant when the perfect translation. of scriptures was published, but everyone is still revising the scriptures , coming up with New and improved translations or as I would claim preversions of the Bible.( give me that good ole King James Bible)
then there is another myth taught that they ended with the death of the last apostle for the gifts was only given to the apostles . there is no prove that this Phillip in acts 21 was an apostle and even if he was there is no Biblical proof that his daughters were apostles.
Ac 21:9And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
I could go on and on with scriptures but this is plenty to chew on right now
