Read Genesis 14, and there are multiple references to him in Hebrews. Many theologians believe that Melchizedech was a preincarnate appearance of Christ.

A head covering is also according to the custom. If your culture has the norm to wear a head covering then do, if not then don't. It is not a LAW by God to wear one. It is pretty well according to culture.
Where do you find evidence that this is meant to be strictly a cultural thing? I hear people say that a lot, but I think that response is more obviously cultural than Paul's statements.
The order of melkezidek runs through the old testament. Didn't start with Jesus. I strongly disagree with what you are saying. If you can't find God in the old testement without looking at NT prophecy, then there is a problems at the core of understanding. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, no one should ever have any problems seeing him in whatever passage they read, cause he hasn't changed.
Agreed for the most-part Some stuff I can't say I agree with because I haven't studied deeply enough into it yet. :/ looks like I probably should start doing that x.x
If the old testament seems overwhelming, its because it is. So is a relationship with God, but all relationships are overwhelming. Its a good sign that its going good when you are stressed out. I would encourage people not to be afraid of what they have problems comprehending. Knock and it shall be opened unto you, seek and you will find....
Yup and when you can't comprehend something, isn't that where prayer for understanding comes in? Though I dunno how being stressed out about it is a good sign >.>
The NT makes me crazy in love with Jesus. Haha... God wants us to understand the simplicity of giving ourselves completely to HIM. Whenever you read the BIBLE, you MUST pray and meditate. That will make you feel soo great.
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine: and he was [is] the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, "Blessed be Abram to the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth, And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand". And he gave him tithe from all. —Genesis 14:18-20
Melchizedek is thought of as a foreshadowing of Christ. I think Melchizedek is also mentioned in Hebrews.
Abram had just rescued Lot and some others from being taken prisoners. I should go read this before I post something but I don't have time
Reading the Old Testament is important also. It really teaches us A LOT. Like how God created a perfect world that became not so perfect. It shows how we got in the mess we're now in....and explains about how God's plan was going to bring us out of it.
Maybe reading the NT and OT together would be a good idea
You've asked a complex question. In order to adequately address a complex question, I cannot give a simple answer.
I can address the matter of food, simply though.
Romans 14
Receive a one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. 2 For one believes he b may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables. 3 Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and c let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him. 4 d Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.
