The old church, as a child in my mind, I retrieve
That old church as a child, I never wanted to leave
It was in that church, how I dreamed I could hide
Never leaving the Lord, to the evil outside
Many songs, and such love,...only kind words were spoken
Picnics by forest creeks, the pastor had chosen
Saved in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ
I received many hugs, sometimes I needed them twice
My mind often drifts to that old church in town
And I weep when I think, how it was closed and torn down
Driving past, I can still hear the laughter inside
Though an empty lot now, the love for God still survives
So I keep in my heart, that church, I never wanted to go
Knowing now,... I carried the Lord right out that door,
Deep within my soul.
