Why is it some people believe they can know Jesus and not repent.
Repent of sins is a series of convictions and actions
1. Conviction an action is sinful, evil and wrong
2. The desire to not repeat it and a revulsion one even did it in the first place
3. A desire to walk differently to love rather than hate, to help rather than break down
4. A commitment to walk righteously, to do the right things
5. Confession of the sins which caused the problem in the first place
6. Real remorse, sadness, weeping and wailing that such things could happen at all.
What have I been told?
It is wrong to feel bad about sin.
It is wrong to be convicted about sin, that is condemnation and only the enemy condemns.
It is wrong to seek to make restitution for sin.
There is no value in confessing sin and seeking forgiveness, because believers are already
forgiven.
The conviction of sin is not the work of God or the Holy Spirit but the enemy sent to discourage
Gods people.
This is so close. God convicts us of sin, real sin, sin that is truly evil and destructive.
It is His purity and Holiness that convicts us, His desire to love and be a light, that
is so different and makes us look so small and insignificant.
I just had a thought. Some say about my sharing I am boasting or saying how good
I am etc. but actually I have not said any of this. But it appears the effect of walking
and sharing the love of Christ is to convict others of their sin and failure, which they
find so awkward. It explains the antagonism and real aggression shown, condemning
without an explanation, just something so unchristian without any cause or justification.
Is it not ironic the very people who say morality is being like a pharisee behave like
the namesake in their interactions. Sin does this to people, they feel the anger, and
truly believe it is the other party, when it is just anger in themselves rising. And they
will look for any reason to justify it, which is why you need to know what you are facing
and why. They are out of control, a slave to the emotions they deny and hide.
Like a wave on a beach it rises up, and appears strong only to crash and break and
disappear into foam. Until I saw it day after day, I would have said, no that does not
happen, but yes it does. Praise God that the cross is the answer to our sin and shame,
that we can have confidence in our King and Lord. Amen.
