God is judging his elect as they walk their lives here on earth, and chastens them. God does not judge the non-elect as they live on this earth, but will judge them at the last day. Pro 3:12- For whom the LORD loveth, he correcteth, even as a father the son in whom he delilighteth. When I was young, my father corrected me, but he did not correct my friends who did the same thing that I did, because they were not his children. God does the same, and only corrects his children. Psalms 73:5- They are not PLAGUED (divinely punished) as other men.

God will judge Christians, but for gifts not for punishment. That is what Jesus meant when he said, " Store up treasures in heaven..."

Which elect? Jesus Christ? Elect angels? Elect nation of Israel? Elect witnesses of the tribulation?

In that scripture psalms 73: The ones who are not plagued are the wicked.
Psalms 73:3-5
3 For I envied the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 They have no struggles;
their bodies are healthy and strong.[a]
5 They are free from common human burdens;
they are not plagued by human ills.

Which passage might that be?
If God judges Christians for their sins on the day of Judgement then our belief and trusting in the Atonement He secured for our forgiveness would be totally in vain... If we are judged for our sins we shall be cast into the eternal lake of fire..

But as a Christian i believe that the atonement that Jesus secured by His death on the cross pays the penalty that was upon me because of my sins.. Therefore there will be no judgement upon me on the day of judgement.. I will be judged for the good things that i have done and will receive greater rewards depending on how well i have done good thing and how well i have loved others..

Maybe it's referring to the general election.
Those who believed in the gospel and were placed in God's elect, Jesus Christ. God elected Jesus Christ to bring salvation to those who believe.

2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Believers give account to the Lord Jesus for what they have done since they were saved. Unbelievers stand before the great white throne and are condemned then cast into the lake of fire.

Elect people. Because, by God's forknowledge, he saw that none would seek him. None would do good, no, not one. That is why before he laid the foundation of the world, he choose an elect people so he would have someone to worship and praise him.

That is what I said. God does not divinely punish the wicked(the non-elect) because he does not love them. If he loved them, he would divinely punish them.

All of the elect are judged, by God's chastening, as we live in this world, so, we are judged by our works, not in order to get to heaven, but because we are his children and he loves us. Somewhere in the scriptures it says those fathers who do not chasten their children, do not love them.

Does divine punishment include sending people to hell for eternity? If so, it seems more like retribution rather than discipline.

Matt 25:34, Then shall the king say unto them on his right hand, come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you ( those God choose in Eph 1:4) from the foundation of the world. The elect are given blessings for their good works and punishment for their bad works, by God's chastening as they live on this earth. We will not have to fear about having to give an account of our works at the last day. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of a sound mind.

Did God chose everyone or only His favorites?
God saw, by his foreknowledge, that none would seek him..Non would do good, no, not one. So, God did not have any favorites, we were all corrupt and he choose, not all, but an exact number.
