Ukraine is corrupt. They're not this shining beacon of democracy or political freedom. Russia is not a shining beacon of the same either. However, one invaded the other, and the reasoning sounds a lot like some of the reasoning Hitler used for invading neighboring European countries -- to save Germans or something.
This must not be allowed. History shows us this brilliantly. However, it can be dealt with without throwing the US into financial oblivion.

To which I will counter with Biden & Trudeau. Worst 2 leaders in the histories of our 2 countries. Trudeau has damaged our economy with his incompetence, destroyed the image of our country internally, which has been a country that helps negotiate peacemaking in wars around the planet, into a weak, poorly run country under incompetent Trudeau. He has destroyed our health care system by underfunding, firing doctors & nurses for failing to get the jab, leaving a huge doctor shortage! Trudeau has more than doubled the debt and has added more to the debt that all the other prime ministers combined in the history of Canada. We now pay more interest on the debt than we pay to support our universal health care problems. Thanks for nothing, Herr Trudeau!
Housing prices have doubled, rents have tripled. Thousands are living in the vehicles or tent cities because they are homeless, since Trudeau took office. We never had this before Trudeau, although I know the US did. His carbon tax has created terrible inflation, with no significant decrease in carbon emissions. Like we need to reduce our carbon emissions from 1.3% of the world's emissions minus whatever our huge carbon sink of trees (We have the largest number of trees in the world!)
Trudeau is literally changing the composition of our culture with so many Muslim refugees, many who are not properly vetted, or who sneak in through the American border. Feel free to build a wall there! It's not Americans illegally crossing. It's a lot of Africans and Muslims. Who do not fit into in our society. Trudeau is fighting to take our guns, our livelihood in oil & gas, by shutting down production, setting up solar farms and wind mills to make the planet greener. Except they destroy the environment and use more carbon than coal burning energy, with no place to store the spent windmill blades. He's forcing by legislation to make everyone to buy an EV by 2035. Except the west had a big cold snap last week and renewables contributed nothing, 0%, to the grid & Alberta had to go to rolling blackouts. That's on Trudeau. And EVs don't do well at -40, which everyone knew. 30 minutes driving a fully charged EV at -40.
Then there is is personal life! He is a pedophile with an NDA agreement for sexually molesting a 14 year old. His roommate in college 8 is in jail as a convicted pedophile. He was thrown out of that private school. He loves pride parades, has overturned this country with his gay agenda. Rumour was that his wife caught him having sex with another man, and that ended the marriage in 2018, but she stayed in for appearances' sake. (But I don't have a source for that, so please don't quote me.) He spent over $8 million renovating the summer cottage for PMs. His wife lived there after the separation until she walked off with another man last year. He has many ethical violations, and subsequent slaps on the wrists coming out of his yin yang! Including the Emergency Act (EA) which he invoked for the trucker's convoy, called in the army, despite advice from lawyers that it did not reach the threshold requirement for the EA. A judge just declared yesterday the Trucker's Convoy did not meet the minimum threshold. So he is a traitor to Canada. He committed treason by breaking the constitution and Charter of rights!
He froze the bank accounts of anyone who sent $10 or more to support the Truckers Convoy, and then seized that money & didn't return it. I know a woman that contributed $20, they froze her bank account, and she had no money to feed her 2 small children being a single parent. As for his sex parties, drinking & drug use, Trudeau is so far ahead of Zelenskyy, it is ridiculous. Plus, Trudeau is not smart. You know, he has low IQ. He speaks poorly, can't think on his feet, and has never directly answers a question in Parliament or public directly, but uses Word Salad, a bunch of words strung together with no meaning or anything close to the answer. Once, Pierre Poilievre questioned him in Parliament with a simple question and asked for a yes or no answer. I forget how many times he did it. Over 50. Trudeau could not answer! Do you know why? Because Trudeau didn't know the answer.
Trudeau failed grade 7 & flunked out of 2 Master's degree programs in Environmental Studies & Environmental Engineering. I'm sure we could do an equally long list on Joe Biden, plus Hunter's white lines in the White House. We won't even get into the implications of having someone senile with his finger on the nuclear weapons button to launch them.
Trudeau and Biden are a disgrace to our countries. Trudeau is so low in the polls, he can't win. So he got electoral reform started, today! Taking away the need for ID, having 3 days for voting, going from people counting ballots to Dominion voting machines and increasing mail-ballots by millions & expats can vote in any riding in the country. Sounds like your last election!
At least Z really cares about his country. He's not a member of WEF. He's smart and is a lawyer, and learned Ukrainian when he was elected head. I've been learning Ukrainian for 2 years. It is a very complex & difficult language, made worse for Z by the fact that he grew up speaking Russian in Eastern Ukraine, although the languages both use Cyrillic, many similar sounding words mean different things, and even some if the letters have different sounds for the same letter.
I get so angry and people who say Z is a druggie. Compare him to Biden or Trudeau, and he comes out smelling like a rose. But even if he was an angry, lying arrogant loser, drug addict, he still would not be worse than our leaders. Biden.& Trudeau answer to their WEF, UN & WHO buddies. Zelenskyy answers to his people.
As far as the economy, Ukraine is the "bread basket" of Europe, and they sell grain all over the world. Stalin killed 10 million Ukrainian peasants in the 1930s because he wanted their land. He began to move Russian farmers onto their land immediately, and that is what Russia is doing now. Russia doesn't have the dark black loam of Ukraine, just rocky, poor land. A big reason for this war. Plus oil reserves. And of course, he wants it as a geographical buffer with NATO. Putin is the aggressor, and many Russians don't support him. The people in cities in Russia are freezing to death in their apartments, because the utilities were poorly built, and are breaking down in a very, very cold winter! A gift from the former communist state!
Read some books on Ukraine and what has been done to it. Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin by Timothy Snyder and The Gates of Europe: A History of Europe, by Serhii Plokny. If those are too hard, read Poland by James A Mitchner. Timothy Snyder has a video series on YouTube, of his lectures at Yale on Ukrainian history. They are called "The History of Ukraine!" Well worth watching and free!
Snyder has also written a lot of other books on Ukrainian and Polish history, including what was done to Ukrainians & Polish by the Germans & Soviets during WWII. A lot of that book is primary research - information he found in Polish & Ukrainian archives, births, deaths, and marriages, all the way to personal letters, inventory, maps, war newspapers & historical information for the wars. Nothing from Twitter, though! Just primary sources!! Snyder speaks 10'lsngiages fluently, which is how he did the research.
Genocide is what is going on now in Ukraine! When you try and kill an entire country full of people to take their lands and resources for yourself, that is genocide. At whatever evil is going on by Ukrainians, remember that other than 6 months in the 1920s, and from 1991 till now, other countries have always ruled Ukraine. From the Bikins, Mongols to the Lithuanians to the Poles, Austria and the the Poles again, then the Soviet Union till it dissolved. Ukraine needs more than 30 years to build a strong economy, get rid of corruption, when the country has been ruled & raped by foreigners for a 1000 years. The peasants, or serfs, the majority of the country, were illiterate. My grandmother never went to school to learn to read and write. She taught herself English and Ukrainian reading her Bible. A more honest, ethical Christian family you will never find! Like most Ukrainian people!

I'd argue it depends what the aim was. According to reports that the aim was to destroy bioweapons labs and disrupt child trafficking bases, it went swimmingly. Of course, who really knows?
Certainly though, I'd say it didn't go so well for the side suddenly talking about enslaving civilians to go and fight, and that's not Russia. Lol.
