What We Say
~~~~~~~~~~
Do we know
How our unguarded words can hurt a brother-
Firing off like pistol shots
Into the heart of someone other? (Proverbs 10:19)
Do we know
That every word bears fruit from what's inside us-
Evil from an evil heart and goodness from a heart like Jesus? (Luke 6:44-45)
Do we
Draw our words from waters scourged
With bitter taste
And not a drop of grace? (James 3:11)
Do we
Build each other up
Or weigh each other down? (Ephesians 4:29)
Do we share joy or frowns? (Philippians 4:4)
Do we mourn? (2 Corinthians 7:10)
Do our hearts break for things that break the Father's? (Ezekiel 36:26)
Do we teach a better Way?
Or are we mute while others wander? (Matthew 28:19-20)
Do we speak
Of what's reality, not reverie? (1 Timothy 1:4)
Instead of going with the flow, let's swim upstream with what we know. (2 Timothy 2:15)
Do we
Cultivate
With empty phrases? (Matthew 12:36)
Do we like to quarrel? (2 Timothy 2:24)
Do we lie? (1 Peter 3:10)
Do we
Take the chance of taking stand
With someone stranded on a lonely isle? (Proverbs 31:8-9)
