How does God feel when his children sin? Does he get mad at them, disappointed or get sad? What do you think?
All sin is evil but has different effects and reasons.
God holds sin in judgement, but faith covers it. Often when we sin we do not see the evil but
enjoy the action. It is this change of attitude which is the beginning of losing faith.
When Peter fell into denial Jesus's answer was two fold.
Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.
Luke 22:31-32
Jesus knew the impetious nature of Peter would lead him to boast something his heart
could not yet deliver.
When Peter returned in repentance to the Lord the Lord asked Him to affirm his love.
The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep."
John 21:17
Sin is always a betrayal of the love we have for God and righteousness and those we
hurt around us.
And in repentance we will feel hurt. We need to know this hurt.
So God follows the nature of love
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 cor 13:7
Sin often appears when we push things too far, get proud, go outside the boundaries
that have been set, do not wait and dwell in Him.
In the cross there is always forgiveness, and through failure we often find transformation.
So God loves us despite our sin, and desires we come to see what evil is and what walking
in His ways means. The cross is a place of pain and sacrifice, but also healing and reconciliation.
Getting to walk in this light and the eternal nature of victory is hard.
