Recently, I reported someone attacking me. (Not my ideas. Me.) How long do I wait, before assuming the folks reading the reports have chosen to do nothing?

I am assuming they don't let everyone know their decisions, but I can tell their decisions based on the word "banned" under someone's user name. So, how long before I check to see if the person is banned?

And, does length on this board have anything to do with the decision? I'm new. The other person isn't.

The mods here are not online 24/7. They are volunteers, and come on here when they're able to. If you submit a report to them, it will be looked at when one comes on and will be dealt with accordingly. And no, the length of time that a user has been here has no bearing on their decision. You will know when that person is banned when you see the word "banned" under their user name.

You should ask one of the mods, as we are not supposed to discuss peoples bans (or lack thereof).
On a general note, most forums offer warnings before bans

You don't have to wait to assume anything. :p

Site staff will administer actions based off of their judgement. Please bear in mind that their perception could be different from yours, so it is not safe to assume someone will be banned because of your report. Allow them to scrutinize what's going on. :)

Also a warning may have been given, rather than an outright ban. That is something you will not be aware of. Just because you submit a complaint does not mean you will be alerted to any actions a mod may or may not take.

LOL Thanks for reminding me I'm free to assume anything I want whenever. LOL

Okay, so there is no specific timing and there are warnings. I didn't know about the warning. (And, phew! I'm glad there are warnings, or I'm sure I will get kicked off for something I didn't know I wasn't supposed to do quickly, so that's a good thing.) Works for me. I was just trying to figure out the timing thingy. I'm very good already at the assuming thingy. LOL

Most of the time we as mods will view both sides of the issues, and may even go back and look at all the previous posts and replies in a single thread, or even other threads involving both users to try and make a well informed decision based on what we are seeing. Many times, someone will take a response to a thread extremely personally, when it wasn't meant as personal or malicious. We don't just ban all willy-nilly, and often our choices will be discussed between one or two of us before hand to make the choice.

Being a mod and an admin on this site is hard. There is about 10 of us, and more than 3,500 of you who view and post in the forums on a regular basis. So, 10 of us, and about 3-5 thousand posts and replies to threads a day.

Give us time, please be patient.

We do the best we can, and not everything will be taken care of swiftly, or with the choice that YOU think ought to be done, because often, what offended you personally doesn't appear to be that serious or deserving of an infraction. Warnings are good, and people who continue to harass, push us or otherwise can result in bans.

Since I asked this question, I have reported someone who I didn't believe was a Christian from a specific post. Dumb! Bad! Trigger fingered that so badly, I'm embarrassed. So, thanks for thinking it out better than I.

On the other hand, I'm not thrilled someone lied about me and gossiped about me for all to see and that post is still up, (last I checked, which has been a few days.) I don't care if you decide a person still stays, but I really do think it is unfair that lies about me and gossip about me is forever staying on the Internet. I've got God, my family, and my stuff IRL. I've only got my reputation online. Reputation isn't as important as God and family, but it's bigger than even my house.

Are you set up to delete one post? (Honest question. I never could get html or anything about setting up a site.) If so, would you? And, I can see the problems, so "No" is a valid answer. I would like there to be a way to stop people's personal attacks as being gospel five years from now if only that one comment shows up on a SERP someday.

Get this straight please...even in a CHRISTIAN chatroom, nobody enjoys a DRAMA Queen. Apparently, your revenge, your injustice that was departed to you by not having an instant known outcome from this, and much more keeps you fueled up! 100 years from now, will this actually matter? Take all of your negative thoughts, feelings, emotions and writings, turn them around and become an advocate for JESUS CHRIST in a positive way...or can you? This SPEAKING YOUR MIND stuff gets mundane..you are in no physical danger here...and the part about you NOT being a lady kinda shows the public exactly how you choose to act.

remember too that sometimes things like this happen because of HIDDEN SIN. so if there is any idolatry, greed, divorce, covetousness, lying, false witness, or other in deed or in heart or in mind that is not yet repented of, well, that by itself will cause a loss of peace, loss of joy, and loss of righteousness....
