This has been long overdue but gather around Windows users and let's celebrate the superiority of our Operating System.
We have always dominated the market and have enabled peer to peer networks since 1980s.
We are unstoppable.

These other guys (Mac users and Linux users) don't even get negative attention in terms of viruses. WE get all the attention.

I'm a Windows user. I use it for playing games and making music. It's a pain in the neck to get VSTi to run on linux. Especially payware virtual instruments.

But yeah, no, it never, ever, ever gets online. Ever.

Y'all have fun with your viruses.

We also need to pray and show appreciation for our leader Bill Gates who made this OS available for the world.
He's our Donald Trump.

If you're going to run a system that cultivates and encourages viruses, at least do it right.

I like win10 pretty good. My wife uses 11 whenever she can. She loves it. She upgaded one of her pc at work to 11 but she has no tech support for it. her daily driver at work is still on business 10.

I hated 8 but it did force me to learn to use the terminal.

Windows 11 is trying to be too much like a Mac in terms of the interface, and this is why we need to get Bill Gates in there to clean house from these fools who have no imagination.

Yeah, well... If I tried to run a .deb file that was made for a 2005 Ubuntu, but I was running 2023 Linux Mint, it might complain too.

In Windows 10, install VirtualBox.
In VirtualBox, install Windows XP or Windows 2000 or something.
In Windows XP, install MS Suite 2000.

Can I ask what is the best Linux distro to run for a captive Windows user who hates everything Bill Gates touches, but needs to at least use an old version of Windows to run some of the rubbish software that won't run on other OS's? Something simple and low resource intensive would be nice.

How low resource are we talking about? The lower the resources required, the more you will need to know about command lines and stuff. Automation (to simplify user interface) takes resources.

My go-to is Linux Mint (Cinnamon edition.) It can run on almost any computer. It's also easy enough that a child of four could download, make an image, install and use it.

For MUCH older computers, Puppy Linux is pretty good. Very basic interface though. Looks like something pre-millenial.

How much RAM are you working with?

If you want to share basically any contact info at all, I could walk you through it in real-time. Wednesday is my day off.

You'd have to give a skype contact or phone number or something to a total stranger feline you met on a forum though...

Something about running an old Windows in a virtual machine:

Most Linux distros can install on a flash drive instead of the computer's internal hard drive. You can plug the flash drive in a computer USB port and boot your Linux on just about any computer you come across.

That means the old Windows that is running on that Linux is ALSO on that flash drive... So Windows is finally portable, whether it wanted to be or not! :D You can run that Windows in that virtual machine in that Linux on whatever computer has the hardware to run it.

Lol. Not the computer Noah took with him on the Ark. 16GB. i5-6500.

I think I tried Linux Mint before (maybe Cinnamon, but maybe the girl who comes after?), but will try again. I think I might have had a corrupt hard drive at the time, and was getting some faults 'cause of that (and I wasn't sure at the time if it was Linux). Also was trying to share Linux and Windows (7) on the same boot drive, and Windows was always wanting to take over, then not working when it was needed. I like the idea of running Windows through Linux. Using Virtual Box?

16 GB should be plenty to run both the host Linux and the guest archaic windows.

Virtualbox is a free virtualization program. Basically it tells the guest system it is in a real computer, but the guest system is really in a simulated computer container made by virtualbox. The guest system can't tell the difference though.

I have done a dual boot before. Not worth the effort. Much easier to leave windows on the computer and install Linux on a flash drive. That's just me though.

Come on guys, why are you geeking out like this?
Just embrace Billy Gates and show appreciation for his work.
@Moses_Young , i was shocked to see you with NO hat and i was like "Is this Moses?"

This site won't load on Windows 95 by the way.

@Lynx how do you use the chat feature of this site anyway?
Let's geek out for a minute. What OS do i need to install on a virtual machine so i can install the outdated android app?
