I am starting this thead so as to not add any more "non-funny" posts to a 'funny' thread.

Does anyone actually see the image "by default"...?

Does anyone else not see the image "by default"...?

This is what I see when someone 'embeds' an image (of course, no image "by default"):

[QUOTE="Rosemaryx, post: 5024536, member: 255682"][/QUOTE]

If I click on the 'Toggle BB code' button, I can then see this:

[QUOTE="Rosemaryx, post: 5024536, member: 255682"][IMG]https://scontent-lhr8-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/332484264_744144253789284_5073864742558472775_n.jpg?_nc_cat=100&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=2c4854&_nc_ohc=krPEm6pZBUQAX_qNpU0&_nc_ht=scontent-lhr8-1.xx&oh=00_AfAOHG0GUAZS4rAD-Pj4MOLqrQp6dl1hNrCwzHryonk7BA&oe=63FCDA07[/IMG][/QUOTE]

I can then copy the URL into another browser window and see the image.

I would like to understand why this is happening - especially if no one else is having the same issue.

What experience are all of you having with this?
Can you see the image in the first quote above? (I cannot.)

I can see it, but I might've encountered a similar situation here and there. Sometimes I have to click the link to see the image someone has posted, and it takes me directly to the page. Perhaps it has something to do with permissions. I look around my account settings and see what I can find that might be useful.

Ok, I'm back but I don't know if this might be the solution but it's worth a look. There is a clickable "Preferences" tab in your account profile settings where there is an option to 'automatically view content you create' and 'automatically view content you interact with'... Tho Idk what that affects but I have all the options selected.

It is likely that this is an issue with either your browser or computer, as the image should be visible. Try another browser and see if the same issue occurs. It could also be helpful to check your browser extensions and disable any that you don't need.

Saw it. Things like this happen sometimes. As mentioned likely an issue with your browser.

okay, I think I understand how/why this is/can be frustrating.
I usually see images without problems. I'm on google chrome and sometimes a windows system.

I followed the link/tags you have in OP and I for some reason cannot see it either.
I never thought about it much before, but have found it odd that there have been times I don't see an image/post. Sometimes I see it but then later don't. Sometimes I don't see it but then later do, and sometimes it has been looking back and seeing my own post but not what was posted, which I found odd being that it was my own. When it first happened (shortly after I first started) I thought I had somehow posted something "wrong" and it was removed :oops: (i was later told by others that they could see it just fine, and a few days later I saw it again).

So, the particular image you linked above I do not see, but 98% of the time I have no problem seeing images.

What is perhaps the most weird part of it is that the 'IMG' tags - and everything between them - are not seen in normal 'edit' mode when you do a 'REPLY'.

It could be a problem with the image host, or source. The url is extremely long also,
which is not normal. When in doubt about posting a url from another source, you can
always temporarily save the image to your computer, and then copy and paste it directly
into the message box here. Make sure it is not an overly large image, also; if it is, simple
image programs (such as paint) can be easily accessed to resize it. Or you could try uploading
the url into postimages.org and they can resize it on upload for you, and also give you a new
and shorter url for the image, which would solve the problem if the problem is the image source.
Posting it directly from your device means Christian Chat becomes the image host, but then the
image does not transfer when the message is quoted, which is why I use urls most often.

Where did you get it? Heh, if you can remember. Some sites do not allow image sharing,
and even those that do can change the image for the same url, or delete it after a time.

And when you post it, you may be able to see it while others cannot, because it is in
your history/cache, and your device knows what it is, and simply shows it to you again.

It would disappear for you after a time because your history/cache gets cleared occasionally.

Some image hosts are problematic also. i.e., I would never recommend photobucket.

Tinypic has gone bye bye and now recommends them, but postimages is much better.

No honey, it is not a joke - it is a real thing that I would like to understand better as to why it occurs.

If you told the truth, you answered correctly. ;) (y)

I have an idea about why it occurs; however, if even one person can see the image in such a situation, it gets more complicated and would definitely seem to be affected by the browser being used.

I plan to write another post later on (tonight?) that will address it from a more technical perspective.
