I had an interesting experience recently that I wanted to share.

My family runs a small retail operation on our farm, and last weekend a man came to buy some things from us for the first time. He was very nice, but had a sadness about him, like he was missing something in his life. Somehow, I knew that I was the one to help him find it. So, I waited for the right time, and it came as he was getting ready to leave. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but do you go to church anywhere in the area?" I questioned him, politely. "No, actually," he responded, "but I have been thinking about it lately. I grew up in the church, and it seems like I should be getting back to it." he seemed rather open, so I asked if he belived that Jesus was his Savior. He considered the words very carefully, and told me that he really didn't know. I responded that I understood, but that if he was curious, he could ask Jesus to reveal Himself to him, so that he would know for sure. I also told him that Jesus was real, and that He loved him very much.

Even though he seemed so open, I was rather surprised when he began smiling and thanking me profusely (most people don't respond to hearing about Jesus with a lot of enthusiasm). I was so surprised, I told him I wished I knew of a good church I could reccommend, but they are hard to find in the area. "It's ok, God can lead me to the right one" he said happily. Somewhat stunned by his exuberance, I said "Certainly. Besides, it's not the church that saves you. Only Jesus can do that." He thought for a moment, and said "Yes!". A huge smile spread across his face. He thanked me again profusely, and we said our goodbyes (his daughters were waiting impatiently in the car). I went about my chores, content with knowing that I had said everything that was on my mind to say, and had perhaps pointed him in the right direction.

The next morning, while I was brushing my teeth (I'm a very pensive tooth-brusher), a part of the previous day's conversation popped into my mind.

He thought for a moment, and said "Yes!"

Now, I don't know these things, only Jesus can judge. Some would call me a heretic for even implying it. But, could it be, in that moment when he said "Yes!", the gentleman reached out and grasped the Hand that Jesus was extending to him? As I said, I don't know, but in my heart I really think so. What I do know is that when he headed for his car, there was a look of peace and joy on his face that was definitely not there when he arrived at our farm an hour earlier.

I guess I'll know for sure one day, but I'm curious what the rest of you think.

I think that no matter what the outcome, God used you to reach someone, and you obeyed. From that point on it is/was the mans decision. Matthew 25: 21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

Thats pretty cool, something like that happened to me too. I met this drunk man on the streets and just said a few words to him about how God loves Him and has good plans for Him. From the on he told me how he had also grown up in the church and gave up and such. Sometimes the little things we do and the few words we say can be used by God to shine His love to all mankind... God bless

How do you handle something as tender as a soul?

Who do I think I am????!!!!

I feel I could pour out my blood for a lost soul if it meant it, no joking either!!

It is evermore important to hear from the Lord!!!!

These things are the most precious things I can think of. I can almost see the angels rejoice!!

Today, I asked a lady about her mom who had been sick. She died not long ago. I saw the hurt, and I would have said something, but I could not say anything. I just nodded my head, as if to say something, and she waited for something. WHAT DO I SAY!!?? HOW CAN I COMFORT THE BROKEN HEARTED!!?

The most I could have done is cry for her lost. To mourn with her.

May Jesus put my heart into his hand to command at his will. Not my own heart, but the new heart he gives!! Amen!!

May Jesus bless you Snackersmom!!

Thanks for your responses, everyone! And thank you especially, Ramon, may Jesus bless you and guide you as well :).

You know, I think sometimes we tend to choke on sharing the gospel because we think that anything short of leading someone in reciting the sinner's prayer is a failure. But we aren't really called to convince others, only to bear witness about what Jesus has done for us, because The Holy Spirit can do all the convincing. I never really argue about Jesus, I just tell people about Him and encourage them to ask God for themselves. Some don't agree with that, but it's really the best way for anyone to find truth.

Besides, sometimes we aren't supposed to give someone the full gospel message, because not everyone is at a point in their life where they're ready to hear it. I don't mention Jesus to everyone I meet, I just try to say what's on my mind to say (although, I'll admit I'm not perfect in this area, and I doubt that very many are). Once, when I was doing an internship in college, my boss was complimenting me about my dependability and work ethic. I thanked him, but told him that I couldn't take any credit, because it was Jesus who helped me to be that way (he looked slightly stunned :D). Another time, a cutomer at our family business commented that the fact that we get a lot of referrals and repeat business said a lot about us. I told her "Thank you, but really it says a lot about Jesus." And that was all that was on my mind to tell her. Just mentioning Jesus' name is a form of testimony, if you do it in a sincere, meaningful, led-by-the-Holy-Spirit way.

There was another customer that I was really fond of, and I knew that she liked me as well, because she named her favorite pet chicken after me (lol, it was a compliment! :D). I really wanted to tell her about Jesus, but the time never seemed right and God wasn't giving me anything to say. Then, one day, I just knew it was the right time, and we had a really nice talk (she had grown up Anglican, but had gotten fed up with it). I can't say for certain that she got saved that day, but I know that I said everything that was on my mind, and the rest is up to God. That day was the last time I ever saw her, she left the state unexpectedly the next week (not related to our conversation, lol). I'm glad that I was obedient when I knew the time was right.

Sharing Jesus isn't always easy, and as I said, I'm not perfect either. But anything we can do point people to Him is an honor, and it does much more good than we realize. He has done so much for us, and He desires that EVERYONE accept Him. It's true that GROWTH in Christ is a daily process of dying to self and trying to be as much like Him as possible, but ACCEPTING Christ isn't all that complicated. When you really think about it, what is it beyond saying "Yes!" to Jesus? :)

"I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase." 1 Cor 3:6

This verse came to mind when I saw what you wrote.

As I read your post I began to get goose bumps. The more I read the more bumps:) I truely believe that as he thought and then said "yes" he was saying yes to Jesus! Only He can give the peace and joy you saw in him. I think you will see him again in this life or the next for sure:) GB

Miss Snackers this is awesome! I can't be sure either, but I truly believe God did something great in that moment! He reached to his heart somehow. I love hearing things like these, it shows how great and awesome our Father is :) God bless you, and thanks for sharing.
