I try to keep enough cash on hand for 2 months of living, and I normally keep enough food for a month or so just by buying extra of what we normally consume. I say normally because we've just moved so it'll take some time before we're stocked up.
That is probably more than most people do. I would aim for that too, it is prudent in case of any emergency.

The biggest threat in my view is the panic that happens at even the threat of a problem. It causes problems that could be avoided. Like the toilet rolls rush during covid.

If viruses were real, you'd be able to isolate at least one of them - testable and repeatable. Simple science we all learn in grade school. And yet no virus has ever been isolated. (Note that I use the word isolation in it's true, scientific sense, not a contradictory meaning of the term useful for propagating virus mythology).
I will trust doctors on this.
Trusting authority isn't science.
Well I put my trust in professional trained authority.
I respectfully suggest this ain't going nowhere. You have both decided what you believe, and will filter out anything that disagrees with what you have chosen.

That is no slight against either of you. We all choose what we believe - it's the only way to make sense of a world where many people contradict each other, a lot. I'm just saying there is no real point in continuing that part of this conversation. It won't go anywhere.

We were fortunate during that shortage. We had a house with massive amounts of storage capacity at the time, lots of kids, and we went through a lot of stuff rapidly... so when things were on sale I'd stock up. Then the kids grew up and moved out and I still had large amounts of some things... like toilet paper. Even after two years of not buying any we still had lots of toilet paper during that period of shortage. Now we've got a multi-year supply again, so while we may go hungry or thirsty we won't run out of toilet paper.

So, a question for Preppers, what is likely to be the next very serious challenge worldwide that is likely?

My own guess is perhaps a virus much worse than covid.

Probably economic collapse.

You have done thrown the door wide open for conspiracy theories galore.

You thought you saw conspiracy theories in this thread before, but you're about to learn you ain't seen nothing yet!

Very likely.

Well I put my trust in professional trained authority.
If so, which professional trained authorities? The ones endorsed/supported by the lamesteam media and governments who were disastrously (and murderously) wrong about covid, masks, PCR tests, ivermectin and the so-called vaccines, or the ones censored by the same which real science keeps proving right and right again? If the latter, you'll choose my side.

I respectfully suggest this ain't going nowhere. You have both decided what you believe, and will filter out anything that disagrees with what you have chosen.

Just releasing the lion... ;)

Hmmmm..... I think the trickiest thing is to know what's going to come first.

Collapse of the US dollar and the world currencies whilst attempts are made to introduce the first digital control currency; cyber-attacks blamed on the Russians/mafia so governments can empty our bank accounts; nuclear threat due to extension of current/planned wars (Ukraine, Taiwan, North Korea, Israel); 5G/vaxx-induced zombie/ebola-type effects (blamed on a new covid or Marburg virus); martial law to counter civil unrest as election fraud exposed around the world (particularly in the US); ongoing chemical train derailments, weapon-instigated "climate change" fires, engineered earthquakes, storms and floods; and a dash of UFO/alien invasion deceit to keep people on their toes and appropriately new-agey. All while exposure of the largest pedophile/slave trafficking ring known to mankind is dismantled piecemeal in the background.

My guess is that we'll see most of the above over the next 2 years.

The person who made that quote doesn't know either lions or people's reaction to truth.

"The truth is like a lion. Even if people believe it exists they ignore it because the only one they have ever seen was in a cage or pen. It's dead easy to ignore when the only free ones are so far away from you."

The meaning is that the truth stands for itself. The seed has been planted. You have read it, and so has she. It might not happen now, it might not happen in 5 years. But truth is powerful. Every drop of truth is corrosive to lies - even government funded ones.

I dunno man... I been hearing conspiracy theories my whole life. Ain't corroded much yet.

Corroded uncle Brent's brain, that's about all. You can't talk to the guy about anything without getting a conspiracy theory back from him. Weather, dogs, that new restaurant, he'll turn everything into a political rant. He's like a conspiracy conversation ninja or something.

Ha, ha. Apparently, there are 4% who will never accept truth? Dunno if I believe it, and you don't sound like one of those... Keep talking to your conspiracy ninja uncle! :p Lol.

No thank you. When conspiracy theories contradict each other, much less observable reality, the only thing left is to have fun by trumping them.

"Of course the moon landing was faked. It's obvious because..."

"Dude. Really? You still believe in the moon? EVERYONE knows the government just projects that against the sky. If you sail far enough out in the ocean the moon vanishes because they can't project it that far."

Obviously (or maybe not), a conspiracy theory for its own sake or without evidence/justification is poor form. I evaluate everything through the lens of scripture. The devil is a master of deception, therefore, his aim will always be to undermine scripture.

For example:
Does NASA and the moon landing try to undermine scripture? Yes (e.g. heliocentric theory and ball-Earth theory).
Has NASA provided questionable statements/evidence and lies? Yes (i.e. NASA is not a trustworthy witness).
Is the belief that the government is projecting the moon onto the sky a belief supported by scripture? No (i.e. God created the two great lights - one to govern the day, the other to govern the night - the moon is presumably the latter).

I know that and you know that, but it's still fun to use to out-conspiracy a conspiracy theorist.
