what is "the Lord's supper" ?
how often should we observe it?
is it supposed to be a ritual bread and wine tasting, a communal feast, or something else?
does it have to consist of unleavened bread and wine, or does it apply to all foods we eat in remembrance of Him?

comments on the spiritual significance are welcome, but i want to hear in particular about our physical observance of it, so if you can make application of what it signifies, that's great.

this topic was side-tracking another thread (a thread which might not at all be undeserving of derailment . . .) -- thought it would be good for the discussion to have it's own place.

Well...I seem to remember the Corinthian brothers turning the Lord's supper into a drunken fest and many of them died as a result.......The bible speaks of judging one's self and to not take it in an unworthy manner....I do not believe it is to be a ritualistic observance, but is to be partaken of when the entire body is in fellowship and making a somewhat reasonable attempt to walk according to the word of God.....!

Another can of worms. Satan loves to mess with God, communion was one of two things Christ instructed beleivers to do, the other being baptised. As a result we have countless versions of what is right.

It is clear that communion is just a ritual, thankfully I can not be put in prison for saying this these days . It is first and foremost a rememberance of Christs death and his sacrifice, the last final sacrfice. We take this so we do not forget, after all we do not sacrifice animals.

you can take communion at anytime, anyplace with other believers.

I take it pretty seriously myself. I also take it whenever I take food and drink with a right heart.
This is why we should fast and pray if we do not have a right heart before God and reconcile with our brothers before our fast is done.

Jesus was at the feast of the Passover when some of these things were introduced. How many times did Jesus celebrate this ritual?

Often missed...a proclamation of the Gospel until He returns.

1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
