I find it disturbing when folks twisted, misused and blasphemy the Sacred Word. As a believer before I begin reading or studying the Sacred Word that I must ask the Holy Spirit to guide me in spiritual truth. The Sacred Word cannot lie about the truth nor will the Sacred Word view ABBA as a liar or in negative light. NEVER disrespect the Holy Spirit or the Sacred Word of ABBA because that is the Breath of ABBA that gives believers power to endure to world of chaos. I am believing there are folks in the Bible Study room becoming stumbling block for others.

Folks stating they were confuse about the story of Rahab being used by ABBA to protected the spies from harm. They could get over the fact there is a possibility she may a had lied, but was she saved at the time. Did the spies tell her to lie for them? Have believers lied since they have been saved, baptized, and fill with the Holy Spirit?

[h=1]Joshua 2 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)[/h][h=3]Spies Sent to Jericho[/h]2 Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two men as spies from the Acacia Grove,[a]saying, “Go and scout the land, especially Jericho.” So they left, and they came to the house of a woman, a prostitute named Rahab, and stayed there.
2 The king of Jericho was told, “Look, some of the Israelite men have come here tonight to investigate the land.” 3 Then the king of Jericho sent word to Rahab and said, “Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, for they came to investigate the entire land.”
4 But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. So she said, “Yes, the men did come to me, but I didn’t know where they were from. 5 At nightfall, when the gate was about to close, the men went out, and I don’t know where they were going. Chase after them quickly, and you can catch up with them!”6 But she had taken them up to the roof and hidden them among the stalks of flax that she had arranged on the roof. 7 The men pursued them along the road to the fords of the Jordan, and as soon as they left to pursue them, the gate was shut.

1. Rahab did lie, but was she a believer of the faith at the time she lied?
2. Did the spies know that she lying for them to saved them from harm?
3. Did the spies tell her to lied for them?

I need folks to show me in the scriptures were spies of Israel told Rahab to lie for them. Rahab decided to lie so the spies from Israel will not be harm because it was her choice to do so.

[h=3]The Promise to Rahab[/h]8 Before the men fell asleep, she went up on the roof 9 and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and everyone who lives in the land is panicking because of you.[b] 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the waters of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings you completely destroyed across the Jordan. 11 When we heard this, we lost heart, and everyone’s courage failed[c] because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below. 12 Now please swear to me by the Lord that you will also show kindness to my family, because I showed kindness to you.[d] Give me a sure sign[e] 13 that you will spare the lives of my father, mother, brothers, sisters, and all who belong to them, and save us from death.”

14 The men answered her, “We will give our lives for yours. If you don’t report our mission, we will show kindness and faithfulness to you when the Lord gives us the land.”
15 Then she let them down by a rope through the window, since she lived in a house that was built into the wall of the city. 16 “Go to the hill country so that the men pursuing you won’t find you,” she said to them. “Hide yourselves there for three days until they return; afterward, go on your way.”
17 The men said to her, “We will be free from this oath you made us swear,18 unless, when we enter the land, you tie this scarlet cord to the window through which you let us down. Bring your father, mother, brothers, and all your father’s family into your house. 19 If anyone goes out the doors of your house, his blood will be on his own head, and we will be innocent. But if anyone with you in the house should be harmed,[f] his blood will be on our heads.20 And if you report our mission, we are free from the oath you made us swear.”
21 “Let it be as you say,” she replied, and she sent them away. After they had gone, she tied the scarlet cord to the window.

Rahad had heard that they were from Israel, the land belong to Israel and people in the land were afraid. Rahab made the choice to lie because she desire to save her family from harm so she acted in a shrewd manner. Pay attention to the the scriptures above in red!! Listen Listen!!!
Rahab shown kindness towards spies by not reporting them to the authority.

The spies ask her not to report them that is different from lying.
I need for folks to show me in the Sacred Word that spies from Israel told her to LIE!!!!

Hebrews 11:31 - By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

James 2:25 - Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent [them] out another way?

Joshua 6:17 - And the city shall be accursed, [even] it, and all that [are] therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that [are] with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

Folks need to repent for twisting the Sacred Word to fit their agenda and lying.

Be careful with this topic. God is much bigger, and less tame than you are supposing.
God does NOT always consider lying to be a sin. God's Law is not so physically minded.
God does not lie, but He sometimes uses others to deceive unbelievers.
Look at these examples:
II Kings 8:10- Elisha, God's prophet, instructs Hazel to give Ben-hadad a false prophecy, which he does.

I Kings 22:22- Granted that this takes place by a spirit speaking through a false prophet which Ahab should not have been listening to in order to bring Ahab into judgment for his own wickedness. But it is still God-ordained deception.

John 7:1-10- There seems to be some uncertainty about the word "yet" in verse 8. Whether this should be included or not, Jesus tricked his brothers into thinking he was not going to the feast- but once they were gone he went up " in cognito".

Jeremiah 38:24-27- King Zedekiah instructs Jeremiah to lie to the king's officials about the subject of Jeremiah's conversation with the king as a means of saving Jeremiah's life. We see no condemnation from God towards Jeremiah when he follows this advice. Does the end justify the means?

Exodus 1:15-21- The midwives blatantly lie to Pharoah about their disobedience to his obviously wicked command. Their motives were obviously good (v 17), intending to save the Israelite babies out of fear for God. Not only does God not disapprove of their deception, but He compliments and rewards their methods (v20,21). Is it OK to do a "small" sin to avoid doing a "large" sin?

I Samuel 16:1-5- God instructs Samuel to mislead the elders of the city (and Saul, indirectly) about the true intentions of Samuel's visit. Samuel tells them he is simply there to sacrifice, but in reality he is anointing the next king of Israel.

I Samuel 21:1-3- David lies to Ahimelech the priest about his mission. David tells the priest that he is on a secret mission for Saul, when he is really running from Saul. Again we do not see any condemnation from God or remorse from David. Keeping in mind that David was so sensitive that he was distraught over cutting Saul's robe a short time later, it seems odd that lying to the priest does not bother him a bit.

I Samuel 27:8-12- David lies to the Philistine king Achish, telling him that he was attacking Jewish towns, when he was actually raiding other Philistine settlements. Again, no condemnation from God and no remorse from David.

I'm not implying that lying is ok, or not a sin, but that you don't have to apologize for the Bible, or change the meaning. It fits together as a whole all by itself.
Rahab was not saved and spies did not LIE!! So a harlot made a choice to LIE to saved her family, but spies from Israel DID NOT LIE. The difference is that David was saved and harlot was not so that means ABBA can use anyone for HIS purpose and as believers we should not question ABBA's method.

I don't question His methods. But also, I did give examples of saved individuals called to lie for a given purpose.
I also tried to delete the post before it could be responded to, as I knew it would not be as helpful as intended,
but would cause further debate.

HMMMM! Where did you get the verses from in John 7:1-10 given me the Bible you used!?! About JESUS TRICKING HIS BROTHERS!

John 7 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

7 After these things, Jesus walked in Galilee, for He would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.
2 Now the Jews’ Feast of Tabernacles was at hand.
3 His brethren therefore said unto Him, “Depart hence and go into Judea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.
4 For no man doeth anything in secret if he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, show thyself to the world.”
5 For neither did His brethren believe in Him.
6 Then Jesus said unto them, “My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready.
7 The world cannot hate you, but Me it hateth, because I testify of it that the works thereof are evil.
8 Go ye up unto this feast. I go not up yet unto this feast, for My time is not yet fully come.”
9 When He had said these words unto them, He remained still in Galilee.
10 But when His brethren had gone up, then He also went up unto the feast, not openly but, as it were, in secret.

John 7 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

10 After His brothers had gone up to the festival, then He also went up, not openly but secretly.
John 7 English Standard Version (ESV)

10 But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!

I do not see the word TRICK!!!!!LOOOOL!!!! JESUS CANNOT LIE!! YOU NEED TO USE THE SACRED WORD NEXT TIME!! YOU DID MEANT TO START A DEBATE!!! SO YOU ARE USING TRICKERY TO PROVE YOUR POINT!!!LOOOL!!!

Yeshua is the King and He didn’t came to earth to deceive us but to set the captives free.

AuphirahQueen, I didn’t follow the debate before your OP but I see the point you are making in this thread

Explain then how an unsaved sinner is honored for being in the lineage of Christ?

As a citizen, and an active participant of a depraved, lost pagan culture in a corrupt city, Rahab was among the least expected to come to faith in the One True God. She was not educated in God's word or able to study under the the godly leadership of Moses or Joshua. However, Rahab had one asset -- she had heard from the many men she came into contact with that the Israelites were to be feared. She heard the stories of their escape from Egypt, the crossing of the Red Sea, the wanderings in the wilderness, and their recent victory over the Amorites. She learned enough to reach the correct, saving conclusion:

Joshua 2, NASB
11 "When we heard it, our hearts melted and no courage remained in any man any longer because of you; for the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath."

It is this realization by Rahab and her subsequent change of heart that prompts this expressed faith that saved her family and her.

It is often said that Rahab, while being a true historical person, also serves as a symbolic foreshadowing or "type" of the church and Gentile believers. She was, in fact, the first recorded Gentile convert. There are many ways in which Rahab depicts the church. First, she was part of a pagan world system, a prostitute, who by her conversion was enabled to become a legitimate bride. In like fashion, Israel was the first chosen people of God, but they were set aside temporarily so the Gentiles could be brought into the kingdom of God, and the church is now considered the bride of Christ as stated in Romans 11, and in Ephesians 5:25-27.

Second, Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was saved because of her faith in "God in heaven above and on the earth below."

Hebrews 11
31 By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after she had welcomed the spies in peace.

Here's a hint: Anyone in the "Hall of Fame of Faith" in this chapter is a saved person. Likewise, Christians are saved through faith in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2
8
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
Third, faith is exemplified through action, as James, the half-brother of Christ, taught in the second chapter of his epistle. Rahab had to put the scarlet cord out of the window in order to show Israel the way to her home, that she and her family would be safe. Christians must accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord and then go on to live in a manner that verifies that our faith is real. Fourth, Rahab could have indicated the location of her home in any number of ways. But the only way that she could be spared was to follow the directions given to her by the Israelite spies. The world tells us that there are many ways to God and salvation, all equally valid. But this is what the Bible tells us, concerning Jesus Christ.

Acts 4
12
"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."

Fifth, Rahab's faith enabled her to turn away from her culture, her people, and her religion and to the Lord. Commitment to a true faith in God may necessitate setting priorities that are contrary to those of the world, as we are exhorted to do in Romans 12:2.

There is no doubt, Rahab was saved. She wouldn't be honored by Christ and the word of God if she was not.

Thank you for the correction ! I will study later on today. Issue was Lying in the Sacred Word because folks had a problem with Rahab in the Bible Study Chat room. I have no issue with Rahab because she was used in a mighty way for Kingdom of GOD.

I need folks to show me in the scriptures were spies of Israel told Rahab to lie for them. Rahab decided to lie so the spies from Israel will not be harm because it was her choice to do so.

The Promise to Rahab

8 Before the men fell asleep, she went up on the roof 9 and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and everyone who lives in the land is panicking because of you.[b] 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the waters of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings you completely destroyed across the Jordan. 11 When we heard this, we lost heart, and everyone’s courage failed[c] because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below. 12Now please swear to me by the Lord that you will also show kindness to my family, because I showed kindness to you.[d] Give me a sure sign[e]13 that you will spare the lives of my father, mother, brothers, sisters, and all who belong to them, and save us from death.”

21 “Let it be as you say,” she replied, and she sent them away. After they had gone, she tied the scarlet cord to the window.

Folks need to repent for twisting the Sacred Word to fit their agenda and lying.

a prostitute named Rahab The Hebrew word 'zawnah' is usually translated as prostitute; however it is derived from the verb 'zawahn' which means to nourish or supply. The word 'zawnah' can just as properly be translated as inkeeper as harlot.
It may be a valid generality or a stereotype that most inkeepers at that time, in that culture were harlots but, since Rahab was an indivitual not a stereotype, we might do well to give her the benefit of the doubt.
