Mike Bickle leader of the International House of Prayer(IHOP) has a mandate called the "Israel Mandate" where people are supposed to pray for the salvation of the Jews, but to support this he claims that Christians are supposed to perform miraculous signs and wonders so that Jewish people will believe the gospel.

To support this he uses 1Cor.1:22:

For the Jews require a sign and the Greeks seek after wisdom.

The problem is the apostle Paul was criticizing the Jews for wanting miraculous signs. Paul goes on to say he didn't give in to them and only preached Christ crucified (v.23).

Talk about context!

Matthew 16:4
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

Can't blame him for calling for prayer for the conversion of the Jews though...

It takes people’s eyes off of the God of the Bible and turns them to sensual manifestations and mystical experiences.

Bickle's an unrepentant false prophet, kicked out of the Vineyard Movement because he was too off the wall for even their oddball taste of "gospels" -- which is to say false ones. Now he's semi-secretly trying to buy up property in Grandview (just east of me in Lee's Summit) and Belton. God knows what sinister use he's going to put that real estate to as part of his faux ministry.

Can't blame him for calling for prayer for the conversion of the Jews though...
If faithful people will pray, certainly. But faithful people recognize and then ignore false prophets.

I'm all for that, but taking scripture out of context is opening a can of worms.

He pastored the Kansas City Prophets and promotes Latter Rain, Manifest Sons of God theology.

Bizarre stuff for sure!

Yeah, I've been here for most of it. Much of the KC metro area Christians just ignored him and his ilk, but he misled some good, though kinda fringe, Christians.
Wow, interesting. I think many of the people that are involved in these movements were raised around it but many poor souls that get sucked in just don't know scripture.

All it takes is someone that is very charismatic and looks good (eye candy) and people will follow them off a cliff! I think The Anit-Christ will be like that.

Interesting that kings throughout history couldn't be deformed in any way, people find it hard to follow a physically ugly person.

I think you just ended our friendship, VW. (Notice, no smiley face.)

While I completely stand with Israel and pray for them daily I will say the following...Israel as a whole will not believe until the day they look upon him whom they pierced as found in Zechariah.....

I pray for the Lord to bless them, remove the veil, open their eyes, and bring their enemies to the ground as ashes under the soles of their feet!

Et tu, Crossnote. (although I never considered you a friend, so no big deal.)
Et moi? No. I thought Vigilant's comment was quite interesting, at least no reason to break friendship...unless you had a personal with Monsieur Bickle. N'est pas?

No, some of my family went to school with Mike, and I have met him. But I don't think very much of IHOP, at all. I just don't appreciate anyone saying the gospel my denomination follows is "false". It's a stupid remark, when everything we believe in is easily read right online.

And one could the same thing for other KCMO churches like KCBT[Now Graceway], Tri-City Ministries and other legalist IFB churches in that area.

My denomination is the one VW said followed false gospels. (It's in his post #6.)

Willie,

I don't know much about Vineyard. From what I've seen of your posts I've had few disagreements with you.

I personally find VW to be quite sound and I am usually predisposed to accept what he says as informed opinion.

I would like to know what is at issue so I can form an informed opinion of my own.
