I got to a cool part of scripture today. It feels like an oasis after a lot of time figuring out altar sacrifices. It's this:

Num 6:23 "Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them,
Num 6:24 The LORD bless you and keep you;
Num 6:25 the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
Num 6:26 the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
Num 6:27 "So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them."

Feels good, doesn't it? (Feel free to bask in it a bit.)

So I was checking out what my Dead Guys thought of it and Albert Barnes goes off and says this:
"From a Christian point of view, and comparing the counterpart benediction of 2Co_13:14, it is impossible not to see shadowed forth the doctrine of the Holy Trinity (compare Isa_6:3; Mat_28:19)."

Well, don't I feel dumb! Apparently it is possible for a Christian to miss that entirely when reading it. I did. And then I had to go back over it to see what I missed.

Oh yeah! Now I see it! Cool!

But, if I missed it so easily, I'm afraid I'm missing some of it still. So, feel free to take this as a teaching moment, a worship moment, a praise moment or a basking moment, but how do you see that showing the trinity? (I'm not going to answer now because I don't want to put ideas in other minds when I'm pretty sure you guys are able to put this is glorifying ways.)

I like the part where when "we" bless people we are putting the Lord's name on them. Blessings and the Lord's name go together.

If, as scripture tells us, we are a kingdom of priests unto God. And, therefore, should do priestly acts towards others - intercession, blessing, etc.

Whoa! Never thought of that either. I'm going to think a bit harder the next time someone sneezes.

there are lots of triple repetitions in scripture passages that refer to God...so we have many hints at God's triune nature...

in the aaronic blessing it is even specific about the three persons of the trinity...

the father blesses and preserves...
jesus christ the son is associated with grace...
and the holy spirit gives peace...

here is another really neat verse about blessing...this is from the end of the story about solomon's dedication of God's temple in jerusalem...

1 kings 8:66..."On the eighth day he sent the people away and they blessed the king. Then they went to their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the Lord had shown to David His servant and to Israel His people."

it says here that the people blessed the king!

if you think about it...we can learn a very important principle from this fact... it was not 'out of line' or presumptuous for the citizens to bless the king...similarly we have authority to proclaim blessings over our leaders too...and we should do it!

I did a study on trinity decades ago. I can't remember if it was through Nave's Topical or Vine's Expository, but I remember I found 54 verses. Num. 6 wasn't one of them. They were more obvious than that. lol

To me the biggest example besides the obvious is when God creates Adam and breathes into him the breath of lives.....it is plural..and in Hebrew you have...

1. Singular
2. Dual, pairs
3. Plural<--three or more

God breathed into Adam the breath of LIVES<--plural as in...

Spiritual Life
Intellectual Life
Physical Life

Sometimes I wonder about that 'dead guy' theology...

1. I mean the Author of Scripture is still alive today? No?
2. You are a child of the Father? Yes?
3. The Son died for you as well as them? Of course!

There, I managed a trinity out of my question. hehe

I had an exhausting day yesterday and then didn't sleep well last night, so this may be dumber than usual even for me, but, huh? I didn't get that. I'm thinking you might mean you disagree that those verses have anything to do with the trinity, but I'm not sure.

Isn't it something when you are taught something wrong and have so much pride in it and then the truth knocks you off your high place ...hope you are all wearing your trinity nee pads and pride crashing helmets.

God is Spirit..not A Spirit as scripture plainly states but God's a lier isn't He or in your cases I should say they (plural) are a lier..
