This is a long read, and perhaps too deep for many to understand, but some who desire the “meat” over the “milk "may find it edifying.

In Genesis 14:18 we see the story of father Abram who came back from the slaughter of the kings, and he was met by the King Priest Melchizedek. This King Priest of Salem (or peace ) offered father Abram bread and wine, and in return father Abram gave him a tenth part of all. I believe this story holds a much deeper spiritual meaning, and is a sign the Lord gave to us in a natural way first in order to be a reflection of the much greater spiritual things to come between our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ, who is our King and High Priest of peace being the Prince of Peace.

In Hebrews 5:6 Paul reflects on this story how Jesus was the fulfillment of that sign given in that Kingly Priest, which the Lord spoke of in Psalms 110:4. Paul spoke little of this Melchisedek because he said to the reader, that these things were things which were hard to be uttered. And Paul also said that many of them would be unable to receive them, because the people were dull of hearing. This is what Paul referred to as the meat of the gospel, and how it was not for those who were still drinking the milk, like the babes in Christ.

Paul was showing us how Jesus was that Spiritual High Priest King to come that would abolish in His own flesh the
enmity, even in our carnal perceptions of many of the natural fleshy motions, or carnal ordinances of the law of Moses. And just as the law was just a shadow of good things to come, but not the very image of those things, this also holds true in the tithe or tenth part given to the old Levitical priesthood.

But by the Holy Spirit Christ would also reveal to His servants by removing that vail of the
flesh that covered our minds from seeing the much greater spiritual aspects of that same law. Many of those spiritual aspects are also prophecy that is to be fulfilled in us as well as well as those who came before us. Just as Jesus said he came not to abolish the law (spiritual law) or the prophets, but rather to fulfill.

Jesus would also gather unto himself his own spiritual priesthood that would be given to Him of the Father, and they would also minister to Him on this earth and also in his New Jerusalem to come. Remember the pattern of the
earthly was just a shadow of the true heavenly, even many of the carnal ordinances were just types and shadows of the greater heavenly things. Again it is written in
Hebrews 10:1 “For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.”

This sign given us in Abram and Melchizedek is a kind of role playing symbolizing both the Father and Son as was also symbolized to us later in Moses (in the place of God) and Aaron the High Priest (in the place Gods mouth)
Exodus 4:16 The Lord confirms this type of role playing of sorts of His Son and also in his saints here Isaiah 8:18 “Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.”

As these signs are much like the similitudes we see in father Abram, and in the King Priest of Salem Melchezedec. Salem means perfect peace, just as Jesus is also known as the Prince of peace (
Isaiah 9:6). Also the name Abram means high father, just as our heavenly Father is a most High God.

The Lord would later change Abrams name to Abraham, meaning father of a great multitude. (Many nations) Just as God is a Father to a great multitude, or host in heaven.

First notice the offering the King Priest gave to father Abram, which is bread and wine. In Matthew 26:26-28 we see Jesus making this symbolic offering to the Father with his own Body or bread broken, and the offering of wine, or blood shed for the remission of sins. In Return the Father would give his King Priest a tenth part of all the spoils of war. But you might ask, what is the tenth part symbolizing?

The tenth part in the law is the Lords portion given unto the service of the priesthood, (as we in Christ are also called to be a nation of priests) or his holy people as seen here in Deuteronomy 32:9; “For the LORD’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.” Just as the Lord is our inheritance as well ( Psalm 119:57).

I believe this is why the Levites were a sign of this very thing as well, as they were not given an earthly inheritance like the rest of the tribes of Israel, but rather a holy portion to minister to the Lord in His sanctuary.
In Deuteronomy 32:8-9 we see where the Lord would divide the inheritance of the Nations, and give them to the children of Israel, or the Lords portion of his people. In Genesis 28:22 we see where Jacob made a vow upon that Rock which was a sign given of the Lords House, and that he would give to the Lord a tenth part of all the Lord would give unto him.

Jesus also proclaimed He would build His church upon the Rock of ages, which is the good foundation, the very Word of God.

The Lord said in Leviticus 27:32 concerning the tithe of the herd, that all which passed under the Rod of the Lord would be Holy. And we know by scripture that the Word of God is that Rock, which is also symbolized like a Rod and Staff and we like his flock.

To get a little better idea of just what the Lord is showing in this holy portion, and the dividing of the spoils of war, we must first go to Numbers 31:29 where we see the spoils of war being divided up by the Lord. Notice half of the spoils of war go to the mighty men of valor, and half to the congregation. Of the men of wars half, the Lord said to take 1 part per 500 and give it unto the High Priest for his service.

The number of the men of war in this instance was 12,000, so 12,000 divided by 500 would give you 24 total portions given unto the High priest. And in the book of Revelation you will notice there are 24 elders that worship before the Lord.

But of the congregations half, 1 of 50 portions would be given to the Levites for the service of the priesthood, just as 50 is a tenth part of 500. This sign gives us an idea of just how the Lord is dividing the spoils of the world by the numbers. In order to get the Lords tenth part, you must first divide in half, and then by 5 (same as dividing the whole by 10) Let me show you this in the daily sacrifice.

If for instance you take a 2,000 year period and multiply it by a 360 day year you would get 720,000 days; if you did that with a 4,000 year period times 360 day year you would get 1,440,000 days. This shows 2 parts (like the 2 camps of Jacob) also like the divided kingdom of Israel (north and south) to be sacrificed (or daily sacrifice) half in the morning, and half in the evening (per the spiritual law.)

Now in order to get the Holy Portion of 1,440,000 you must first divide spoils in half, and then by 5, and you get 144,000. Just as we see 144,000 saints in Revelation 7.

The portion that is given to the High Priest King by the Father in heaven as was also shown in John 6:37. Jesus said; "all that the Father has given me shall come to me." In verse 44 Jesus said; "No man can come to me, except the Father which has sent me draw him:" Also in John 10:29 Jesus said; "My Father, which gave them to me, is greater than all." Just as Abram (meaning High Father) symbolized this when he gave the tenth of all the spoils of war to the King Priest of Peace.

So who are the spoils and tenth part? It is the tenth part that is given to the service of the High Priest King Jesus Christ. I believe this tenth part was also symbolized in David in 1 Kings 11:31-32 with 1 tribe of 10 was given to David for Jerusalem’s sake. In Nehemiah 11:1 we see the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem, and they cast lots to see that 1 of 10 would dwell in Jerusalem the Holy City. In Amos 5:3 we also see this tenth part when the Lord said the city that went out by a 1,000 would leave but a 100, (=tenth part) and the city that went out by 100 would leave but 10. (=tenth part)

In Isaiah 53:12 we see these spoils of war being divided by the Lord among the strong or (men of valor’s half), and a portion being divided among the great, or the great multitude(or congregations half) as we saw in Numbers chapter 31. It is also written the spoils of war were to be cleansed with water or with fire (Numbers 31:23) as we are cleansed by the washing of the word, and we and our works shall be tried by fire.

In the OT it was the tithe of the seed, of the harvest, of the first ripe of the crops, the tithe of the first of the flocks, and of the first fruits, which was meant to symbolize peoples as is written in
James 1:18 “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” Paul also understood this symbolism when he said Romans 16:5 “Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my well-beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.”

1 Corinthians 16:15 “I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)” And here in Romans 11:16 “For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.”

Again notice the similitude of the firstfruits and firstborn, as Jesus Christ is the firstborn from the dead.

Exodus 22:29 “Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.”1 Corinthians 15:20 “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”
Colossians 1:18 “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” What did Abel offer that was pleasing to the Lord? Genesis 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof.”

Again those who are given to the High Priest (Lamb) are shown as firstfruits
Revelation 14:4 “These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.”

So you see, the Lord does not want your “
unrighteous” money, or your crops, or your farm animals, or any of your materialistic goods, as all these things were just a shadow of better offerings and sacrifices to come who are of the true holy seed, of the true spoils of war, of the true harvest and flock of the Lord.

All the Lord ever wanted was you, and for you to believe in Him and His words and offer yourself to him a living sacrifice. And those who believe in Him and in His Word, are truly those who make up the Holy portion, or the Lords portion of his people. (Nation of priests)

In Isaiah 6:13 the Lord promised; "But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten, as a teal tree, and as a oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the Holy seed shall be the substance thereof."

That they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
Isaiah 61:3
