Some people may not understand the great spiritual battle that is, and has been ongoing for thousands of years now. But for each new individual believer and born again Christian there is a personal battle that is to be waged and won, if one is willing to fight the good fight of faith.

This battle between the mind of flesh and Spirit of God is the enmity that was shown in the very beginning, but this personal battle ground for each new believer takes place in the heart and mind after first being illuminated by the Spirit of God. It is written Hebrews 10:32 “But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;”

This battle against the saints by the Devil and his spirit is shown many times in scripture, and many of the saints were also prophesied to be overcome. Revelation 13:7 “And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.” But some also would hold fast and endure unto the end, and be overcomers by the power given to them by God, and by the faith of Jesus Christ.

This spiritual battle and war that wars against the soul is mentioned several times in scripture.

Ephesians 6:12
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Romans 7:23
“But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.”

James 4:1
“From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?”

1 Peter 2:11
“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

2 Corinthians 10:3
-5 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:[SUP]4 [/SUP](For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds)[SUP] 5 [/SUP]Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

When a person is born again of God’s Spirit we are empowered by God to be able to resist sin, resist the Devil, and resist the wicked ways of the world, and even to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. But this war and battle takes some effort on each believer’s part, as personal sacrifices need be made to overcome all these things.

Remember….

1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

James 4 “From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?[SUP]2 [/SUP]Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.[SUP]3 [/SUP]Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.[SUP]5 [/SUP]Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
[SUP]6 [/SUP]But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.[SUP]7 [/SUP]Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.[SUP]8 [/SUP]Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.[SUP]10 [/SUP]Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up."

Luke 11:21-22 “When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:[SUP]22 [/SUP]But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.”

Revelation 2:7 “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Revelation 2:17
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.”

Revelation 2:26
And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:”

Revelation 3:21
To him that overcomethwill I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”

How do we overcome? John gives us the answer:

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (1 Jn 4:4)

Overcoming is not about jumping through hoops and satisfying the expectations of men. It’s about depending on The Overcomer who lives in you.

For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 Jn 5:4-5)

Are you born of God? Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God? If yes, then the Overcomer lives in you and you can’t help but be an overcomer.

That’s why Jesus told the disciples to be encouraged during times of tribulation; because he – not they – had overcome the world and because they would carry his overcoming Spirit within them.

We are called to fight the good fight of faith! Believe in what Christ has already done and His life will be manifested in every circumstance of our life while on this earth.
It is with faith and patience that we inherit the promises of God while on this earth.

When a person is born again of God's Spirit they are empowered to become the sons of God, and given the power from God to resist temptation and sin, even bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. But each individual has to be an over comer, because we know by scripture some would fall away from the faith and be overcome by sin, and false doctrines of men who teach believers do not have to be over comers of sin themselves. The warnings are many, for those who do not choose to ignore them.

2 Peter 2:17-20 “These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.[SUP]18 [/SUP]For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.[SUP]19 [/SUP]While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption:for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.[SUP]20 [/SUP]For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning."

These false teachers like Mr Prince are leading people into captivity by preaching a false grace message of "easy believism", with no purification and sanctification being manifest in the believers heart, mind, and actions.
These false teachers are "turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness" by not speaking the whole truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and by not speaking out against sin.

Matthew 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

1 Timothy 1:5
Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

2 Timothy 2:22
Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Hebrews 10:22
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

1 Peter 1:22
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

Fight the good fight of faith! The preaching and teaching of the revelation of Christ Himself and His finished work is paramount in walking in a overcoming life which is His life in us in this present world. We are to fix our hope completely on the grace of God being brought to us at the revelation of Christ.

1 Peter 1:13
[SUP]13 [/SUP] Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit,
fix your hope completely on the grace being brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Does the grace of God really be turned into licentiousness? What does Jude 1:4 actually say? Let's hear it from the horse's mouth.

You owe it to yourself to hear what is really being said - don't let self-proclaimed heretic hunters that "twist" what is being said about the grace of God that frees us to live the true Christian life that is in in Christ alone.

Romans 8:35King James Version (KJV)

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Amen and Amen!!!!

Isaiah 40:29

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

1Timothy 1:14
And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Only God's grace through Jesus Christ can sanctify and remove imperfections from every facet of our lives, till we appear a perfect gem before God.
Our work is to let Him achieve His good work in us.

Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that he which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Put all your verses within this context and what Jesus has accomplished and then maybe you will understand.

So yes I fight the good fight each day of abiding in Him, I know my source :) and it is not self effort.

Read my posts again, I said we are empowered by God to be able to overcome, but you must fight and resist temptation and sin, even bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. This is only possible by being born again of God's Spirit. But you hyper-grace followers are always trying to prop up the D.I.Y. "self righteousness" straw man; that dog won't hunt with me. :)

Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.

If you are talking about the flesh and sin we do not use grace to overcome, grace overcomes.

Jesus does not need our help He has already overcome we need to get out of the way and turn to Him and His active presence in us.

Saying He empowers, is to me, like saying He makes us extra strong to overcome, like a boast of spiritual energy, yet we still have to fight. I disagree with this because it does not work since you are making the battle yours again.

We are not empowered by Him, we are made victorious by and in Him, the real spiritual battle is to rest in Him and His victory, not as super empowered believers but as people whose life is hid with Christ and are therefore made victorious to win the battle.

Our life hid with Christ is what teaches us not some additional power we have been given.

Can you see the difference?

Amen!

The real fight of faith is resting in what Christ has done and relying totally on His life in us.

Resting/remaining/abiding in the Lord is not an inactive lifestyle. It's a Spirit-led lifestyle where we flow in good works ( His fruit bearing in us ) that God had planned for us all along.

Resting/remaining/abiding in the Lord is our obedience in action.

Resting/remaining/abiding in the Lord is our warfare.

Resting/remaining/abiding in the Lord is our faith in action
.

Hebrews 4:10-11 (NASB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.

[SUP]11 [/SUP] Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.

There is a vast difference between "us" doing things and the Lord doing things through and in us
.

We can do things in our own flesh like Abraham tried to fulfill the will of God by creating an Ishmael or wait for the Lord to work through us to produce the child of promise - Isaac. This speaks of the difference between the 2 covenants. Galatians 4:22-24, 30

Psalm 127:1 (NASB)

Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.

I so agree, when I move away from that resting in Jesus that is when I get into trouble, it is human nature to move away from

Him and go back to fighting our own battle, the battle is to rest, it is hard to see this until one is ready to give up the

self effort battle.

If you are accused of sin and therefore deserving of death, what do you say?

Didn't I cast out demons in your name?

Didn't I rest on saturdays and abstain from bacon, like you commanded?

No, sir.

You agree. I sinned. I deserved death. But the Lord Jesus Christ provided a Way for me to be Righteous before Him. By the Blood of the Lamb and His Mercy and Grace I am Saved from the sentence of death and condemnation.

God doesn't have a problem with your sin. He doesn't condone it, but He has provided His Solution. You have a problem coming before His Majesty and His Glory being an imperfect being. Its ok to admit it. We are all in the same boat.

There is no way for us to make ourselves like God through our own strength and will. We are His Workmanship and we will become what He Will make of us.

Can we just leave Mr. Prince out of it this please because, you see I am a simple gal and I do not follow his teachings really and you are confusing me with all different issues. :D

Does "Easy Believism" overcome the world?

1 John4:4For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Notice EVERYONE who is born of God overcomes the world, there is no born of God, and then unborn, and then born again.

Notice, the VICTORY of overcoming the world is our faith not our works. Our faith works, yes, but our works do not save us or keep us saved. Our faith is the victory that overcomes.

Notice, the EASY BELIEVISM, the ONLY one who overcomes is the one who BELIEVES Jesus is the Son of God.

You are wrong, my OP shows the spiritual war that takes place inside each born again Christian. You yourself are not stronger than the Devil, or his spirit, so it takes One stronger than he to overcome the ways of the world, temptation, and sin. It is only by being empowered by God's Spirit that we can be made holy and righteous in Christ and bring into captivity every thought into the obedience of Christ. But the words fight, and battle, and war are not words of "resting" and doing nothing, but rather it also takes us resisting the the Devil, the lusts of the flesh, and the ways of the world.

Here is what JP and easy believism teaches...
3- Christianity is effortless
source....Joseph Prince exposed, false teachings of Joseph Prince

Phrases like "just trust in the finished work of Christ" and "resting in Christ" and "Christianity is effortless" does not even hint of fighting a good fight, or warfare, or resisting temptation, or laboring, or enduring till the end. I saw an article the other day where JP does not even believe one can even bring their thoughts into the obedience of Christ, or get lustful thoughts under control. That's not of faith in what the power of God in Christ can do in a born again believer.

So they don't fight it, they just go with it and rest, and make excuses for sin. :)

You mean resting like this?

Hebrews 4:10For whoever enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from His. 11Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.

All the warring and battling you speak of is actually to enter into His rest.

Jesus was attacked by the enemy, trying to get Him to do things, "If He be the son of God..."

But Jesus knew who He was and stayed in faith through the enemy's attacks.

Matt 4:3And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.”

6and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written,

Notice the pattern, if you are what God says you are then do this...

We don't do to become His child.
We do because we are His child.

We don't do things to BE saved.
We do things because we ARE saved.
.
