Praise Jesus.

A fruitful question is to ask about the animals God uses in His word.

What does Jesus mean by, treading on scorpions and serpents? for an example.
What are the scorpions and serpents?
First hint is the use of the word "serpent".
A lot of people think "snake", but they'd be wrong.
Snakes are real animals, but serpents can fly. Right?
Snakes cannot talk, but serpents can. Remember? in the garden of Eden.

Also, John saw in the hearts of the Pharisees broods of serpents.
He wasn't seeing a nest of real snakes.
Already you should start to see, these animal references are references to spirits.

But why use animal names?
First let us look at those Pharisees with the brood of serpents.
The serpents were clear to John and Jesus by the way those Pharisees behaved.
Their countenance, their demeanor, and the way they spoke.

Easy for us to see, the Pharisees were skeptics, deniers, and spoke scornfully and dismissively, always testing.
Well, we can look around us in the world, and see people like that.
(No one here - this is not a personal reference - please don't take it that way.
Though it is good to look and see if there are any serpents within.
For the bearers of serpents are, in the main, completely unaware of them, or in denial
.)
People who have broods of serpents are always lashing out.
They attack with multiple biting remarks, trying to destroy you, or whatever you were offering.

Scorpions on the other hand, sting their host.
If you have ever withstood a brood of vipers, you may remember seeing the host give up lashing out, and then start on themselves.
If you ever saw an angry person wind down to muttering, "I must be the idiot", and, "I suppose I am the fool",
and in extreme cases, "I may as well be dead",
then you know what I mean.
Every self degrading comment is another sting of the tail.

I'll talk about more animals next post.

And I'll try to answer your questions.

Thank you, Magenta.

That is beautiful, coming from a unicorn.
You would know your mythological creatures.
I appreciate the verse.
It's true, I didn't think of that one. You got me.

And for that I give you one in return.

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent,
which is the Devil, and Satan,
and bound him a thousand years,

Revelation 20:2

Now I'll ask again, can dragons fly?
And maybe you can also confirm for me,
whether dragons and serpents are either the same thing, or very closely related.

When we are besieged by serpents:

Though Thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons,
and covered us with the shadow of death.

Psalm 44:19

And when Jesus gives us power over serpents:

Thou didst divide the sea by Thy strength:
Thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.

Psalm 74:13

I've handled a few serpents in my time.
And I think they can fly.
I think that how they get in.

But I allow myself, that I could be wrong.
It's not like they are visible.

Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

The use of snakes and other poisonous creatures has its foundation in the garden. This is when the father of lies Satan put his words in the mouth of the mouth of beautiful creature and drew away mankind from walking by faith (the unseen) to instant gratification according to the course of this corrupted world..

1John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Whatever it looked like God changed it form and it lost it original beauty when God corrupted the whole first creation .death having entered the world the original glory was lost and hid..

I envision it to be lie the multicolored sea creature with flashing neon lights.

Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

Poison is used through the scriptures to represent false prophecy. Like that of the garden. Their literal eyes were opened when their soul, the form of communing with God died .Their spiritual eyes became blind and deaf to hearing the voice of God. .

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Gen 3:4

It would take the words of the gospel given to new creatures to bring life back to the soul of man. This is why Christ came.

John 9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.

Isiah preaching the gospel in respect to the suffering of Christ beforehand spoke of that day

And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness. Isa 29:18

Again poison represents false prophecy, false gospel.

Below he uses wine to indicate anything that intoxicates causing dissipation of spirit. showing they love their false gospel

Deuteronomy 32:33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.

Below meat is used to represent doing the will that comes from false prophecy turning bitter in one stomach..

Job 20:14 Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.

The tongue represents the lying prophecy of the word of the father of lies that said... Ye shall not surely die:For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened,

Job 20:16 He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper's tongue shall slay him.

Romans 3:13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:

To drink is to take in, remembering it’s not what goes into a man that defiles him but what comes out.

The parable below helps us understand the authority of the gospel as to how it dispels false prophecy (poison) coming from false prophets . There the believer shall speak with the tongue of the gospel the anti-venom. It has the power to raise those dead in their trespasses and sin to new life, thosewho will never die according to that parable..

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mar 16:16

In another parable that shows false prophecy will not affect a believer. The witnesses made the apostles into gods as false prophecy. The same as today with those who make it into a sign gift.

And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand. And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live. And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god. Act 28:3

In Fevelation the father of lies the dragon the liar from the beginig in the garden is shown coming with full glory for the last battle. Having the face of man and hair of a women to symbolize that glory . A womans hair is given as a representative glory of God that is hidden in this world

And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. I think the flying has to do with locust like poison they devour life. They are also used as false prophets. Snakes fly out of the hand alive and into the fire to symbolize the fiery judgement of God in that way. The focus I believe is false prophecy whether it is flying crawling or like a lion ready to devour its prey.

And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.Act 28:4

Today I want to go to the law, and talk about the animals there.
The Lord starts in Exodus, telling us to bring a bull daily to His altar.
Many like to declare that commandment no longer applies.
We know this because they confess it, when they bring their bull to us.

Yes. Surprising isn't it?
We still use the expression today, even as God meant it in the Bible.
And they present their bull to their fellowmen, in order to justify themselves,
yet they will not bring their bull to the Lord as He commands, to know if He approves of it.

So why do we call it a bullock, or ox, or steer?
Well, consider what a bull can do you for you?
Bulls are used to carry heavy burdens, and to plough your fields.
The nature of the animal gives us the nature of the spirit.

When someone preaches, or posts their bull, it is a meat offering
which they hope will help us carry our load, if we eat it.
They are giving us a steer in what they believe to be the right direction.

When God commanded us to bring Him bulls,
we are to do the same with Him as we do for our fellowmen, when we bring them our bull.
(maybe we should make it a bit holier for Him, than we be to our fellowmen)
Seen this way, many of the commandments regarding His sacrifices become apparent common sense.
We have got lay our hand on the head of the bull (take the bull by the horns).
We have to kill the bull (be prepared to lose it altogether, should God show it be be utter bullcrap, i.e. completely unrighteous).
We have to flay it (dissect it into it's component parts).
Then burn the fat and offal (that part of the "offering" which God shows you is unrighteous or unnecessary.)
The holy part is left (the kernel of truth which the bull contained).
It is then safe to eat that part (keep the truth).

In bringing the Lord a bull, He told us to bring it from the herd that He has given us.
In saying so, He couldn't have made it any clearer that He is NOT speaking of livestock.
Take a bull from the herd that you already have from God.

What's that? Did I hear you say you haven't got any bull in you?
You better look again.

Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

Rams are my next post on this topic.
God demands yearlings, without spot or blemish.
Suckling lambs.

Why?
That we may...

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby
1 Peter 2:2

So Peter in the New Testament is teaching us this Levitical commandment,
or exhorting us to do it.

What are lambs good for? Meat.
If we bring our self to God a suckling lamb, God gives us meat.

Many Christians believe we don't need to heed God's words, nor keep His law, because Jesus came.
And because Jesus died for them.
And Jesus is their sacrificial lamb.
But Jesus is the Lamb of God.
That makes Him God's lamb.

And here are Jesus' words teaching us this commandment.

Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their Lord, when He will return from the wedding;
that when He comes and knocks, they may open unto Him immediately.
Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when He comes shall find watching:
Verily I say unto you, that He shall gird Himself, and make them to sit down to meat,
and will come forth and serve them.

And if He shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so,
blessed are those servants.

Luke 12:35-38

Loins girded (with God's truth) and lights burning (as in your candlestick from God - see Exodus 25)
is how to make our self without spot or blemish.
Jesus says "like unto men that wait for their Lord to return from the wedding",
and such men are like innocent lambs, when compared to gods.
If we so prepare our self and present our self to God, then we can receive Jesus when He comes.
And if we receive Him, He feeds us.
He feeds us meat.

And finally, Jesus tells us, we must sit at meat with Him more than once,
to be really blessed.
To be a blessed servant.

On to goats.
I know you are keen to hear me speak about goats, because goats are the hot topic.
How can we tell if a spirit is a goat?
Well the easiest way, is when a goat is presented with a godly truth,
and the first thing it bleats is, But.
Goats butt every good thing.

Goats are mischievous though, and they find many strange ways to but.
A detractor thoughtfully gives us a nice example,
his goat just offered "then you must be bad earth".
It in no way relates to what was just offered,
was meant to sound cryptic,
the only clear part of it saying I must be bad
To insinuate something about my person?
to cast aspersion upon me in the eyes of congregation?
Only God knows.
Either way, it was just a diversion from the topic.
No real substance to it, it was just a 'but' to my offering.
Maybe he was just kidding.

Goats aren't good to keep. They are devils.
God gives us two ways to get rid of them.
We can kill them outright,
or we can put them out into the wilderness, never to return.

Goats come and go.
They don't stay in your fields like your sheep do.
But once they have entered in, they come and go when they please.
And they bring their friends with them, even big billy goats gruff.
They aren't always easy to get rid of.
Surely you seen people struggle with their demons, only to have them come back again.

One must have a stout spirit to stand up to goats.
And preferably, the armour of God.
Without the help of Jesus, and His angel Michael, we cannot overcome.
To think that you can is a goat.

pardon a couple obvious questions..

So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, "Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life." Genesis 3:14

And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life

what's this about cattle? why are the cattle cursed? what did they have to do with what happened here?? and every beast of the field? the LORD had created them, and saw that they are good - then what happened?

does this mean animals will be judged? or only that they are '
subjected to frustration' ((re. Romans 8:20)) - and why?

Thank you posthuman.

Thank you for your questions.
i thought she is the woman, not the horse . . ?
Unicorns are not horses.

what's this about cattle? why are the cattle cursed? what did they have to do with what happened here?? and every beast of the field? the LORD had created them, and saw that they are good - then what happened?
Not only do you not bring your questions to the Lord,
neither do you bring Him your cattle.

Bring Him your best bull, and He will showed you how it is cursed.
You and He will flay it together, and burn the offal.
Then the Lord gives you the holy part which remains, for you to eat.
Then your cattle will be blessed.

And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for atonement:
and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it,
and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it.

Exodus 29:36

does this mean animals will be judged? or only that they are 'subjected to frustration' ((re. Romans 8:20)) - and why?
And when are thinking about getting around to reading your Bible?

And as for you, O My flock, thus saith the Lord GOD;
Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats.

Ezekiel 34:17

I understand. They steered you away from the word with all their cursed steer.
But I will give you a good steer.

We ascertained in my first post above that animals in scripture represent spirits.
The nature of the animal tells us something of the nature of the spirit.

Now you have been around this forum, and seen all the bull that people offer up, haven't you?
Some have mighty fine bulls (good teachings of the word),
others have diseased and cursed bulls, (lame teachings, teachings against the law, deceptive teachings),
others offer up goats instead of bulls (these are just kidding around, mischievous),
Some of the ladies are good at offering up lambs (sweet praises and milk from the Lord).

Sometimes people just offer up a serpent (a cutting remark),
or a scorpion (a self degrading remark)
Some offerings are a running issue of the flesh (can contain numerous serpents in every paragraph).

They are beasts, spirit beasts.
And everyone has a herd and flock.
Even you.

Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks,
and look well to thy herds.

Proverbs 27:23

The commandment tells us
we must bring our cattle to Him,
before we go about killing other peoples' cattle, and offering up our bull.

Praise God

That is beautiful, coming from a unicorn.
You would know your mythological creatures.
You are welcome. Just so you know, if a person has, say, a picture of a flower as their avatar, it does not mean a flower is speaking to you. You simply come across as you described the pharisees to make such scornful and dismissive statements.

As for mythological creatures, do you always make brash assumptions about others?

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

I took your avatar to be you and your Holy Spirit from Jesus.
You walking side by side with His Spirit.

And that what you say is the good oil you receive from the Spirit.

As for mythological creatures, do you always make brash assumptions about others?
Brash assumption?
Does one keep a Unicorn without an understanding of mythological creatures?

Jesus comes on a white horse.
A sword comes out of His mouth.
The Unicorn is a white horse, but with a horn on it's head.

I think your avatar is cool.
And I do like your colour

And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses,
clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
