From the Zondervan Handbook to the Bible:

"In the New Testament too, prophecy played a very important role in the life of the people of God. There was those, like Agabus (Act 21:10) and Philip's daughters (Acts 21:9) who were known for having specific prophetic gifts. However, very few people are actually identified as prophets; rather the gift of prophecy is presented as belonging to the whole church. Particular individuals might be used by God to bring specific messages from God to his people, but the emphases is on the MESSAGE and the response of the church rather than the one who brought it.

In the New Testament church, all believers were now viewed as having a priestly role, able to enter into the presence of God without need of any priestly mediator other than CHrist himself (Hebrews 10:19-22, 1 Timothy 2:5). There are strong indications that all were aslo viewed as having a prophetic role, able to hear for themselves, what God was saying and bring their understanding of that to church for it to be weighed and worked out (1 Corinthians 14: 29, 31)

AND TODAY?

For today's church and today's Christian the challenge of prophecy remains. We are still called upon to speak out about the justice and holiness and love of the great God whom we serve, and we are still called upon to live out that justice and holiness and love.

We may not all be among those who are recognized as prophets, regularly able to encapsulate the essences of the things that God wants his people to hear, in a way that is immediately recognized as valid by all those who belong to God and genuinely seek his word. But if all believers are in direct relationship with God, there is the potential for all believers to hear what God is saying.

IF this is true, it is vitally important that WE ARE ALL GOOD LISTENERS; able to listen to what God is saying so that we can share it with others and be able to listen to what others are saying to us so that we can judge whether God is speaking to us through them."

Just thought I'd share that with my brothers and sisters in Christ :) have a blessed day.

Hi AnandaHya; there was a debate a while back on this, and there were some good points made with scripture, that made both sides seem plausible; So which side is right?

We are in this generation, instructed to rightly divide The Word; The last generation, is reffered to all through the Bible, as this world truly is a stage being prepared for such an incredible Deception, that if were possible (only because of Gods Will) even the elect would be deceived.

This is a serious Warning, to rightly divide the Word, in part, is to recognize Our instructions at this time; Theres the first set, OT, Theres the second set, NT, and then theres the instructions that are for this final generation; The generations of people that were born before 1948, are all the generations of Faithkeepers; Those born After 1948 are here to Defend that Faith.

There is knowledge to be had, But you have to earnestly desire that knowledge, otherwise you just keep your Faith in Christ STRONG, and do the best you can to be nice to others, to show them Christ, if they will not hear it, IF it even be possible.

There are no more real Prophets of God at this time; as Gods Word is Already revealed, What we are is, A cloud of Wittnesses that testify, that we have heard these Prophets, and that YES what was said through them IS TRUE, the only thing left, are the Prophesies that have yet to take place, that are happening with an increasing pace of spiritual pain, until it comes time for US to PUSH

I had read a few commentaries on Revelation over the years.

LaHaye's "Revelation Illustrated and Made Plain", and Lindsey's "There's A New World

Coming". These two commentaries are basically false and heretical.

I also read John F. Walvoord's book, "The Rapture Question." For a time, Walvoord's book

brainwashed me into believing and accepting the pre-tribulation rapture position, in

spite of the fact that I was a Lutheran, and the Lutheran "church" does not believe in the

pre-tribulation rapture.

But anyway, I read two more sane, better books on Revelation.

Chilton, David. The Days of Vengeance: An Exposition of the Book of Revelation.

Averky, Archbishop, of Jordanville. The Apocalypse of St. John: An Orthodox

Commentary. 1985. Valaam Society of America. Platina, CA: St. Herman of Alaska

Press.

These books by Chilton and Averky offer a more correct view of Revelation.

Not premillennial, and not pre-tribulational. The only draw back of Chilton's book

is its apparent obsession for finding "5 points" of covenant in Scripture, in agreeement

and alignment with the five points of Calvinism. 5 is the number of death. So the real

Biblical covenant must be more than 5 points of the OT. It should include the death and

resurrection of Christ, which would be a 6th and a 7th point. In Erie PA Scott R.

Harrington

PS I would avoid listening to what John Hagee says on Revelation on the TBN evangelistic

network. He makes money but doesn't preach "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing

but the truth" regarding the book of Revelation. Much of the future is wholly unknown

to us, and we should not listen to views of Revelation that do not agree with the views

of the holy Orthodox Eastern Church. God save us all from dispensationalist "Christian"

(sic) Zionist pre-tribulational Armageddon theology!

it ok thanks for spending the time to look for it :) God bless you. :)

I think I need to focus on how to talk to Muslims right now. we will need it to avoid the third world war. Please be in prayer about the Middle east and the christians who are trying to spread the world of GOD

you see they think Islam has freed them because its Master only beats them once a month instead of daily but how to show them the freedom found in Christ, that is the question we must focus on. hmmm....

Scott brother you remain in my prayers and I suggest you find another church. love you bro, but you got me a little worried.

GOD GAVE us the a spirit of a SOUND MIND. remember that ok?

2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

I have read bits and pieces of this topic. I am just curious (and I apologize if I am posting in wrong place), has anyone considered how many unfulfilled prophecies there are? Is there a discussion about that and what everyone thinks about it? I see too many that do not make sense for Jesus to fulfill them when he returns at the end of times. It is very interesting but it is a subject I heard my preacher speak of recently. He has mentioned a LOT about the natural disasters being a sign of God's Wrath and how God is sick and tired of being slapped in the face by all the evil of this world. I would love to get into a discussion about this topic.
