Friends, What is your favorite book, next to the Bible?

My 2 favorite books next to the Bible are the same book, in two different English translations from the original Greek language; see:

Saint Photios. (1987). The Mystagogy of the Holy Spirit. Joseph P. Farrell, trans. Brookline, MA: Holy Cross Orthodox Press.

Saint Photios. (1983). On the Mystagogy of the Holy Spirit. Holy Transfiguration Transfiguration Monastery, translators. Boston, MA: Studion Publishers.

God bless you.

My favourate book NEXT to the Bible is the message my grandmother wrote in the front of a Bible she gave me on my 11th bithday.
It says....."My dear child DO what is written in this book and you will be OK!"
Does that count?

Ok we get it Scotty...yer an intellectual powerhouse with a library the size of Texas and if quasi-religious philosophy were an olympic event you'd win gold every 4 years.

Mystagogy of the Holy Spirit? Sounds rubbish. I'll go for Judaism Discovered by Michael Hoffman, its a critique of a FALSE religion rather than trying to elucidate and expand the TRUE one by adding to Gods Word.

Well, I get it, your version of the Bible says, "Thou shalt despise thy neighbor as thyself". God bless you. Michael Hoffman's book "Judaism's Strange Gods" is good. If you want a critique of false religion, see the following two books:
Schaeffer, Frank. (2002). Dancing Alone: The Quest For Orthodox Faith in the Age of False Religion. Salisbury, MA: Regina Orthodox Press. Regina Orthodox Press Online Store
Rose, Fr. Seraphim. (1999). Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future. 4th edition. Platina, CA: St. Herman of Alaska Brotherhood.

Yes we know your game Scotty....trying to snare people into EO by proffering worldly wisdom in the form of vain philosophical babblings.

(1 Corinthians 1:19) For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

Funny you offer books all about orthodoxy as 'critique of false religion'....

....lolz...couldnt agree more.

So true religion is believing in and pretending to be "Dr. Strangelove"?

The Mystagogy of the Holy Spirit isn't rubbish. It's an important work in the Christian East. You can read it online for free if yo would'd like.

Saint Photius the Great - Mystagogy of the Holy Spirit

Anyways, back to the topic. I really like the Anchor Yale Bible Commentaries and any work by Raymond E. Brown.
