Luke 23:31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
Psalms 92:12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
Proverbs 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
Psalms 68:6 God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
Jesus made this statement in Luke 23 as He was on His way to the Cross. Jesus called the time of His ministry a green tree. If they crucified Christ in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
Are we serving God in a green tree florishing time? I have heard people ask the question "If you do not serve God now, how will you serve Him in the tribulation?" This is a very profound statement. If we do not serve God well in a green tree atmosphere, how will we serve Him in dry times?
It reminds me of the story of Joseph who interpreted Pharoah's dream. Seven years of plenty and seven years of dry times. This story is a great example of what we should do. When things are plentious in the green tree we should be taking in everything we can. Learning as much as we can. Growing as much as we can. Being prepared for the dry times we might face.
