The LAW was made to be broken!!!

Those who think they know everything about biblical doctrine and God, you deceive yourselves! Those who say we must gather, worship or rest on one particular day; those who think they know everything regarding prophecy; those who think God speaks to them and gives them visions and dreams; those who say one particular denomination or non-denomination has all the light or is true church of God; those who say denominations are of the devil; those who insist the earth is old or young; those who say they are completely sanctified inwardly and no longer sin; those who say KJV is the only authorized version (by who's standard) is there no END? You refute me, I refute you, round and round we go, confusing and messing up new and/or weaker bothers and sister of the faith. Do you really have it all figured out?

You do not have it all figured it, and neither do I!

Isaiah 40:28 says this
(NASB)
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Everlasting God, the
Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth
Does not become weary or tired.
His understanding is inscrutable. Inscrutable--> incapable of being investigated, analyzed, or scrutinized; impenetrable.--> Hebrew word used chêqer (H2714) a search, investigation, searching, enquiry, thing to be searched out

For you KJV only people--->
there is noH369 searchingH2714 of his understanding.H8394

Isaiah 55:9 (NKJV)
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are
My ways higher than your ways,
And
My thoughts than your thoughts.

and Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV)
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

Do not confuse yourselves with this verse in Colosians 2:2 (NJKV)
that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,

For the above verse is the goal of our life on earth, not necessarily the end result! (until our bodies are raised incorruptible). Therefore we need to pray for ourselves and one anther which brings us closer to the goal:

Ephesians 1:16-17
do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,”

and Colossians 1:9
For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

So can't we all step back and ask the question?, Can I be wrong? Can I be misinterpreting the word according to my flesh or the way I in which I was raised. Am I interpreting passages in the bible against the bible as a whole? Are we asking ourselves who this passage was written too and for what reason, and how it should or should not apply to us today? For we all are fallible in our thinking and logic. For if we say...

1 John 1:8 reads (NKJV)
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

and Jeremiah 17:9 says (NKJV)
The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked;
Who can know it?

And King David said in the Psalms 51:3, “ For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my
sin is always before me.

When Isaiah was caught up to the 3rd Heaven in a vision, he saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up and what did he cry out?
Woe is me, for I am undone. And John the revelator had a similar experience in Revelation 1:17, that when He saw Christ he fell as dead. Also as for Abraham it wasn't until his old age what he consider himself dead, recognizing that his flesh and desires are contrary to God. We see this in Romans 4:19, “Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb;” (NASB). But how was Abraham justified and made righteous before God? The same was Christians are, by faith. For that is what Romans 4 is all about Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” (NASB). Verse 22, Therefore it was also credited to him as righteousness.(NASB) Read Hebrews 11, the heros of the faith and then read in the bible where these men led sinful lives, by faith Rahab the harlot did not perish..., and Jephthah is also mentioned here, who sacrificed his own daughter to God (his story found in Judges 11), which is an abomination to God (Deuteronomy 12:30-31). The apostle Paul also gives an account of the war within him between the spirit and flesh in Romans 7. See Bob Deffinbaugh's article “The War Within.”

Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man on earth who does good
And does not sin.
(NKJV)

Martin Luther got it right when he said he is as “snow covered dung.” God gave us the LAW with the intent and foreknowledge that it would be broken. The LAW is Holy and perfect, the LAW represents Christ. And it's intent was to show us how sinful we are, how broken we are and how we can not obtain and obey the LAW on our own. It was meant to be broken for our GOOD! To open our eyes to our depravity. The sermon on the mount was given by Jesus himself in the same manner, to expose our condition. How can we be saved then? Jesus answers this after the righteous rich man who walked away because he couldn't give up his stuff, ALTHOUGH he OBEYED the LAW, in Matthew 19:26“But Jesus looked at them and said to them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

Therefore, what should we do?

1) Recognize your sin and authentically repent. Just because you walk down the isle in a church and repeat the sinners pray doesn't mean your saved. Repentance comes from within the heart with the intent of not returning to your sinful ways. It does not mean that you will never fall or sin. Our sinful nature will always be with us until we die or if we are alive, changed in the twinkling of an eye to our incorruptible bodies at the 2nd coming of Christ.

2) Receive God's grace handed to you by His son Jesus, who is also part of the Godhead, who suffered, shed His blood as an atonement for your sins, and died so that your sins will be credited to Christ's account and His righteousness will be credited to your account.

3) Be baptized as a symbol and witness to the world that you indeed accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior. This symbolizes Christ's work in you, dead to sin and raised in His righteousness. It also symbolizes that you now belong to God, a child of God rather then a child of Satan, you have been separated and set part from the world and place in the family of God. You have been sanctified by the blood outwardly and it's your intent to walk according to WORD, which leads to inward sanctification (The Goal I spoke about above).

4) Place your full trust in Christ for your salvation and for your earthly walk with Him. Once you are saved, God places a desire in you to OBEY and LOVE him, do this the best you can. Consume yourself with His WORD, prayer and praise. Join a local bible believing church for we are not designed or called to live the Christian life alone. There is only one LONE RANGER, and that is Christ, “No one is good but One, that is, God.” verse 17 of Matthew 19.

5) Do this: Luke 10:27 So he answered and said,“ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.'” Even I have a hard time doing this! I admit I do not love perfectly. So what I'm I to do? The apostle John has the answer, 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Then ask the Lord to help you to Love and Obey Him. The legalizers will push you to try to obey all the OT laws in your own flesh, but a Christian is to appeal to Christ. Christ is higher then the written LAW, and it is Christ who will mold your heart into one that is pleasing to Him, you just have to be willing and allow Christ to do it. For Christ will write the LAW in your heart, this is the transformation process that takes a life time. For Jesus said His burden is light, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Christ say pick up your cross and follow me, not His cross!!!

6) Don't reject His chastisement. Its for your own good. And if you don't feel His chastisement, then most likely you are not saved. But let no human judge the eternal condition of a man or woman for this is God's responsibility. However, we can rightfully judge the actions of a person following biblical standards.
Romans 12 5:11
5 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. 4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. 5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:
My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;
6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.”

7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. 11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

7) Ask for the Holy Spirit to help you discern God word rightfully. This takes human effort too. God does not just grant you knowledge pertaining to every scriptural passage. Get out you dictionary, lexicons, check other accepted bible versions, a variety of biblical commentaries, history books and most of ALL, interpret the bible with the bible! The keys to understanding the bible are within the bible itself. Don't let people just through out scripture without explaining the context, or without comparing their verse with other verse, interpret passages in the bible as a whole and not by themselves. This often leads to error.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.

May God be you all and have mercy upon you!

One more point:

Now that we are saved in His blood, totally redeemed my the mercy and grace of God, we should live a victorious life. For nothing happens to us that God had not already ordained to happen. Doesn't mean we don't have sorrowful days and it doesn't mean we can enjoy life. It means we shouldn't live our life that way.We should eagerly await His 2nd coming because Christ is victorious. I like to live my life with the outlook that every day is a good day, just some are better then others. I do not have to worry about tomorrow because Christ is with me today. Praise and thank God Continuously, for nothing can harm us and fear nothing. 1 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (NKJV)

Yup. Because only by breaking it can we fully understand it.

Father to a toddler:
Don't touch the fire. It's "hot".
Child has no concept of hot until she touches the fire.

End result: transgression is abhorred with all one's might.
But for now, some children like to see just how much fire they can touch without getting burned.
And some unfortunately, like to put others' hands into the fire on purpose.
And some like to watch others burn, because they want them to suffer like they do.

This where the Child of God is chastised. And if they ignore or don't feel the chastising of the Lord, then they are illegitimate and not sons (Hebrews 12), they have a spurious faith. I think our difference is that I believe you can be saved, and still fall, but God will always bring you back to Him. If you fall, and stay down, then you never were saved to begin with.

What say you?

I agree totally.

The circle of judgement/hate/spite/anger/jealousy/control is a manifestation of our need to rise above others by putting them down.

At its most basic form, it's 'I am better than you'.

This is the spirit of rebellion.

'I am above you. i know better than you. I refuse to be wrong'.

Personally, I think it's more dangerous to be absolutely sure of what is right and what's wrong, than to have a general idea.

"Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: For the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land." (Hosea 4:1)

Due to this lack of knowledge, man is on the brink of destruction, because of his transgression against God. The ability to think, and to know good from evil is the only thing that separates man from beast. Man has taken this gift from God for granted, and has chosen evil over good.

People make the mistake of trying to separate them selves from history. They think that because these events happened so long ago, that they have no bearing on what's happening today. Had not the depression of 1929 happened, we would not have the safeguards in place today to prevent the devastation of an economic crash. Our recent economic crash called Black Tuesday was nothing compared to the crash of 1929. Had not Jesus died on the cross some 2000yrs. ago, there would be no such thing as faith in God and repentance from sin. People would still be getting stoned to death on the spot for transgressing God's law. So, what happened in the past has an effect on us today and the one thing that happened in the past that has a profound effect on us is man's iniquity. In the days of Adam, his iniquity brought death to himself and all mankind. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Romans 5:12)

Now, in these the last days, God has said that because of the overspreading of iniquity; (iniquity is one of the signs and factors of the end of the world). “And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to show him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, “See ye not all these things? Verily I say unto you, there shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down.” And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately saying,” Tell us, when shall these things be and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?”;“Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold, but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the entire world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (St. Matthew 24:1-3 & 12-14)

See this is your error here, the proper translation is "“Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” The word your translation uses "world", that actual Greek word is Aion, which means age. What age where they all in? The Old covenant age, the OT age still, the age in was quickly coming to an end at the Cross from God's point of view, and 70AD from an earthly perspective. The age to come after Christ's death and resurrection is the visible Church age with Christ as the head. Christians today are the real Israel see 1 Peter 2 :9:

1 Peter 2 New King James Version (NKJV)

2Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

The Chosen Stone and His Chosen People

4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,
“Behold, I lay in Zion
A chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”

7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient,
“The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone,”

8 and
“A stone of stumbling
And a rock of offense.”

They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

The fact is that this stone of stumbling is still an offense to you!

Back to Matthew 24. Jesus is answering the big question regarding the destruction of the temple, the very center and essence of Jewish life and worship. So naturally the disciples wanted to know all the details regarding it. So, in context, the frame work of the question asked revolves around the temple
“Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming (in judgment, not 2nd coming), and of the end of the age (their Jewish age, not ours)?” Jesus answers this question from Matthew 4-34, and sums it up with 34 Assuredly (pay attention now), I say to you (the audience that Jesus is speak to there, not 2000+ years later), this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place (this generation, which has an application of nearness, not that, which comes after). I can defend my position quite well if I have to regarding the contents of Matthew 24:4-33 that it has already happened in the past and is fulfilled.

Interpreting scripture is not a very easy task, it takes skill, like a painter needs skill to render a picture. Without the skill you end up with confusion and a abstract meaning of biblical scripture that leads to all types of falsehoods which unfortunately ends up with all kinds of fanatical flights of fantasies!

I disagree with the OP. the law was not meant to be broken, however it was never expected to be fulfilled by anyone except Christ Himself. For us ordinary humans, it can only condemn us since we are all sinners and fail to meet its written in stone requirements. Its purpose was to drive us into God's mercy, but instead we distorted and changed the law so that we could actually fulfill the new distorted rules instead of God's rules. For Christians we have a higher law one that requires us to love our enemies, to accept suffering for His name, and to kill off our own worldly self none of which are included in the old law.

Without the LAW we would never know what sin is or what displeases God! Therefore God used the LAW to show us that we can not obtain or keep the LAW perfectly. Are you without sin Celestemekent?

Hi Bookends,

You said: You do not have it all figured it, and neither do I!

But, you then presented your doctrinal beliefs here, as if you have figured it out, inviting a 'You refute me, I refute you, round and round we go'.
Perhaps you knew this already?

At the risk of going on the refute each other merry-go-round (which I see you starting on with celestmekent), I'll offer a few points below.

We all will be a different stages of our growth, so we should allow for this and just share on scripture without letting disagreements escalate.

We can receive understanding from scripture though as we have the mind of Christ.
1Cor 2:11-16
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

1John 2:27
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

As for repentance you spoke of, this is a once only event.
Heb 6:1
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works,

Note also Heb 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Scripture shows our repentance was of dead works of self-righteousness. This repentance is once only, after which it is impossible to be renewed again to repentance.

But, the common doctrine we often hear of repentance from bad/selfish behavior (wrongly referred to as sin) is not supported in scripture.

As for the law, Christ is the end of the law for righteousness, for everyone that believes (Rom 10:4). Do you agree with this?

It's all down to perspective. And mine is different than anyone elses. And everyone else's is different to mine.

The lesson is; (at the risk of being smarty pants) . . Love is universal. And the human love God wants for us, is not divine love. it doesnt have the right to judgement. It has the spirit of 'I am no better than they are. But I'll give them my last breath'.

Romans 7 explains this debacle all in one place.

Remember, it is an English translation of man who wrote and spoke in pharisaic legalese, on top of that, in greek, to describe hebrew understanding.

It basically says the "law" cannot be known without itself guaranteeing sin, in the spirit at least, even if not in the flesh. The deceiver says, there is no punishment in breaking it, and it's there to oppress you. Re: serpent vs. Eve 6000 B.C.
He continues to say this today, in causing us to perceive it as "law" as opposed to "instruction."

The reason that we are subjected to this, is so that we can overcome and become responsible creatures with true free will, instead of being locked into robotic adherence and never knowing the difference.
Only a creature with free will can "choose" YHWH.
YHWH cannot be loved unless He is "chosen". All things were created for His pleasure. The greatest of which is being loved. Part of His pleasure must also lie in knowing that we receive equal pleasure.
We, in return, by this system, also get the fair and righteous compensation of knowing what it means to be loved, because we were truly "chosen."
But again in fair and righteous compensation, we only feel it on the level that we give it.
And it must be a choice to give it, and the measure thereof.

Genesis explains it too, if you can see what happened spiritually there.
YHWH could have stopped with monkeys, but monkeys don't know how to love Him, because they are relatively speaking, robots. He could have stopped with angels, but they were given all their insight and power before they were given free will. Mistakes out of knowledge. We are the next step, we are given free will before insight and power, which once complete, yields the capstone of creation. Knowledge out of mistakes.
A free-willed soul-mate that will choose and be chosen.

The instruction is the tree of the knowlege of good and evil. But we are only corrupted by eating the fruit of it, breaking it. (Or touching it, fantasizing to break it, like adultery in the heart, or hatred)

in Jesus, God bless
