I do not suffer a woman to teach OVER A MAN.
This is the truth of the verse, it is not a blanket statement by Paul saying, 'Woman should NEVER teach.' No!
That said, so, what about the word 'over,' for in it's real understanding lies the truth of Paul's opinion (which is God's opinion, too, right
) in 1 Tim. 2:12
You know, I think the word 'over' is just not getting anything said about it, so what about the words of the whole verse, maybe, this will just wrap up the thread. Whatever, works for me, I guess
The Lord leads
But, maybe , I, yes, I, green, have the context wrong. You know why?
The stickLER-er-er--er words at the end of the verse, my Christ peeps. 'but to be silent.'
Now, if the verse reads with this definnition it really does not Fit in with 'but to be silent,' it's taking things out of context, or, hmm, no, I guess that is not what I mean to say, I guess what I'm saying is I'm just not reading the verse truthfully.
Sigh ..... A moment for pause
Green hates it when he has to be humble
Still pausing
But, OK, done,
And, yes, that was serious humility there for you all.
The verse reads much better when:
'over a man'=controlling authority over a man. Because why, green? Because of 'but to be silent.' With it being:
I suffer not a woman to teach or have authority over a man but to be silent, <-- this makes MUCH more sense when it's controllign authority.
The 'but to be silent' FITS
I suffer not a woman to speak INSTEAD OF A MAN or have authority INSTEAD OF a man, but to be silent. There is an incongruency of thought. Now, that said, ORDER is still spoken of in the very next verse.
but, yeah, having second thoughts, that's all, maybe I will change them again, tomorrow. I pray for His wisdom to me, always
I suffer not a woman to speak dominatingly over a man or have authority dominatingly of a man but tto be silent.
Well, hmm, maybe, it's just too late, my green brains are mush, long day.
I do pray though that the person that next changes that $1,3something donation # higher to private message me
