I was reading Exodus ch. 32, and this passage stood out. So I did a word search on the word, "Cup." thought I'd some of the passages here.

Exodus 32:20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strewed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

(Note: David wouldn’t even speak of other gods.)

Corinthians 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
1 Corinthians 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

Revelation 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Please excuse the typos.

I posted each part without looking at the title and the text...and added and extra "n" in drinking...Didn't edit it within the five minute edit time.

It is wonderful when someone actually studies, lots of Good verses.

We will each drink the cup of his wrath UNLESS we keep his covenant and obey his testimonies, then he drinks it for us.

It would be very wise to start following Gods ways and not my own and being OBEDIENT to the law of God.

Hi And,

Thank you for commenting. I love studying the word. I know that you and others here do as well. I only wish that I had started studying it long before I did.

God's word covers every part of a subject from beginning to end, It's just Amazing. There are 66 books, written by at least 39 authors over a period of 1,500 years, and it all witnesses of itself and covers a subject completely.

Psalms 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Psalms 12:7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Thanking God for that. arrow.jpg

John 19:28-30, Jesus did drink the sour wine just before his last breath, but here it is not from a cup but a "bowl" or a "jar" depending on the translation that you use.

Hi Least, thank you for this thread! The Word is so rich with truth and light, so many things to learn, and LORD willing we will continue to learn of Him for all eternity!! Isn't that amazing?!!

I saw this thread days ago and didn't have time to respond, however have been pondering it. You know, I'm so glad you brought this to attention, I had not given serious thought to all the "cup" represents. My first reaction was, whatever is in the cup you drink will be your fate. So cautious was/is kings of the earth, they use tasters to prove their cup doesn't contain poison!

A question we all should give serious thought, have we consciously rejected the cup of this world, of Babylon, and chose for ourselves the "cup of the Lord"? God will not mix the contents of these two cups!! They are totally incompatible! We must choose one or the other. Paul says, "We cannot drink of the Lord's cup and of the cup of demons." We must totally reject this world, this Babylon, and that awful cup of the false church, full of her abominations and of the blood of the saints.

If we have lived in this world, to some degree, we have sipped from that awful cup and have been affected by its contents. We must now unconditionally reject it, empty it, discard it and replace it totally in favor of the new cup of blessing from God. This is a daily conscious effort to "put on the mind of Christ"

What a timely message, how important to ponder these things before Passover. Paul advises us to examine ourselves, (which reminds me of how the Passover Lamb was examined) our mental state, prior to taking of the cup. We should be careful not to eat the bread and drink of the cup in an unworthy manner, lest we bring judgment or condemnation on ourselves.

We are also to avoid the extreme reaction of some, who after self-examination determine they should not drink of the cup at all! Paul says clearly one should "examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup". For a follower of Messiah, it is vital to participate with the proper attitude before God.

Also, as there are 2 cups before us, there are 2 choices, choose life or death.

Deuteronomy 30:15-20

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

[SUP]15 [/SUP]See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; [SUP]16 [/SUP]in that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. [SUP]17 [/SUP]But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; [SUP]18 [/SUP]I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. [SUP]19 [/SUP]I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: [SUP]20 [/SUP]that thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Hi Karraster,

I'm glad you enjoyed the verses. I enjoyed going through all of the scriptures too. There is always so much more to learn! Out of one chapter, (Exodus 32,) I have about five studies going currently. Plus some other studies inspired by some wonderful threads here on CC.

God's word is just so amazing! I agree with you. "What better time to examine ourselves as Passover approaches, especially examining what Christ has done for us."

I started a study some time ago (that I need to get back to,) about the different tables and the different foods mentioned in the word. It's fascinating to see even with the foods, (oil, honey, bread, milk, meat, grapes etc..) how it gives a picture of what is right and wrong. It also brings more and more to light.

Ty for the verse that you shared.

1 Corinthians 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

Here's another passage that goes right along with it.

Isaiah 28:7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
Isaiah 28:8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

And then, there's a better table. (Always praying for wisdom to not only be a hearer but a doer.)

Proverbs 9:1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
Proverbs 9:2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

As you know sister, When the whole word is studied and verses are compared one another...There's always a full picture, (what's acceptable, and what is not.)

So thankful for God's instruction
