Good question!
We are to grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Learn all you can about Jesus in light of what happened to us when we died and rose with Him. We are alive to God now. Knowing what Jesus did for us and the grace that comes with Him will definitely keep sin from having dominion over us.
In the meantime....think about this....
The legalistic mindset says " Stop sinning and we will not condemn you".
The grace-based mindset says " There is now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus." ( this is where grace believers get accused of being licentious )
Jesus says " I do not condemn you, now go and sin no more. " This acceptance grace of no condemnation gives life to us so that we do not have to continue in sin.
When a baby is trying to walk we don't jump on them for their failure to walk. When they grow up they will walk!

So if someone is still struggling with some besetting sin, Even though they trust God, they are not following truth and grace?
How else can one take it, I am asking sincerely.
