Bread Crumbs “Amazing Grace” July 17

The message of grace can be abused in two primary ways. First, it can be belittled by those who do not fully comprehend man’s desperate need for grace’s majestic provision. There is no such thing as cheap, sleazy, or greasy grace. To use any of these terms in association with the grace of God is blasphemy! There is absolutely nothing cheap, sleazy, or greasy about the price Christ paid on Calvary. Not only does the opponent to grace cut himself off from the only means by which God shows mercy and favor to man, but this attitude reveals an attitude of self-righteousness. Second, there is confusion created regarding Biblical grace by those who think that God’s grace indicates His approval of a continual sinful lifestyle. Biblical grace does not condone sinful activity. A proper doctrine regarding grace recognizes the necessity for confession of sin’s committed and a turning away from the practice of all known sin. We who understand Grace as God’s goodness given to the undeserving based solely upon our faith in Christ refuse to be drawn into either of these two major errors. We do not fail to preach the grace of God as the one true way to life. And, to the practice of sin we join Paul in saying, “God Forbid!”

Ephesians 1:2 - Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 3:6
Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

Make sure you see the message of the Lord here, which is again the avenue of Righteousness. It is of utmost importance, as Righteousness is the only avenue to justification of Life (Romans 5:17:18). Paul says that Abraham BELIEVED God, and that it was his belief in God that ALLOWED God to count him Righteous. What did Abraham BELIEVE about God that ALLOWED God to count him Righteous? Romans 4:5 reveals that Abraham BELIEVED that God would accept his FAITH in that God had promised to JUSTIFY him, which is the removal of the guilt of sin/his ungodly status. Paul is writing this letter to a born again, Spirit filled community of Believers, because they were being carried back into the bondage of works instead of maintaining their faith in Christ and His work at Calvary alone. Never forget that although we have been justified through faith in Christ, God is looking for works that He also justifies as perfect works (Revelation 3:2-3).

Don’t forget the subject here is the avenue through which one BECOMES Righteous, AND the avenue through which one BEARS Righteous fruit. These Galatians were already Righteous before God, so why the letter? This is the main issue in the Church today. We didn’t forget, because WE NEVER KNEW that the fruit we bear which glorifies God can only come through the same avenue through which we were born again. Most go from Grace and Faith that saves immediately back into Law and Works that hold us in bondage and deceives us (Romans 7:11) to make us think all that we are doing is for the Lord, but in all reality it is only for us if it is not done through faith in the cross. Never forget that Jesus taught, “We can do nothing without Him” (JOHN 15:5), meaning without faith in Him and His atoning Sacrifice. God only honors what God does and He only works in the Truth (Psalm 33:4, Romans 8:2).

Bread Crumbs “Things Are Out Of Hand” July 18

When preachers preach the Cross it is a surety that things will begin to get out of hand. As the Spirit of God move’s freely among God's people, as they hear and perceive the truth, they will begin to experience a Spirit induced feeling of exhilaration. They will begin to walk in the exultation of freedom and liberty. In their hearts will beat a brand new longing for righteousness and holiness. From their lips will come a joyful praise of thankfulness and thanksgiving, rising from the very depths of their souls. Things are sure to get out of hand! Believer’s will come out from under the dominating hands of Satan’s grasp. Deliverance will break out on the left hand and on the right! The Saints of God will come out from under the compelling hand of worldly desire. The things they had been drawn to, the worldly objectives they desired, will fade away and no longer be pursued. Those who trust in Christ Crucified will come out from under the beguiling hand of all manner of temptation and sin. Yes sir, when the preacher preaches the Cross, things will certainly get out of hand! So preach the Cross and watch God’s people be delivered from the hand of the enemy!

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 3:7
Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

The same avenue through which Abraham was made Righteous is the ONLY avenue through which anyone has ever been considered Righteous in God’s eyes. It never has been, and never will be, based on our works, but EXCLUSIVELY upon our faith/trust with the heart in the Righteous Work Christ carried out for us at the cross (Isaiah 32:17, Romans 10:10). We as the people of THE CROSS, THE FAITH, and THE WAY, are Abraham’s children/seed (Romans 4:11, Galatians 3:29), meaning that he is the Father of those who will believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ through that same faith which God gave the sign of circumcision, which was a seal of the Righteousness of THE FAITH (Romans 4:11).

Abraham represented his flesh the circumcision that would be of the heart (Romans 2:29), and not the flesh, when Jesus Christ would come and do the work of Righteousness at Calvary (Isaiah 32:17). Whether Jew or Gentile, if one Believes upon the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, they become the Children of Abraham. If we are Christ’s, we are Abraham’s seed (Galatians 3:29). Paul is here trying to lead the people back to the simplicity of Christ, and away from that which can only bring death, which is the Law they were being tempted to try to keep. The same today goes on in almost every Church in the world. How do we know when and where this is happening? When the minister’s are NOT using God’s Word to point us to the Cross of Christ! Time to get determined to know nothing other, or we will remove ourselves from Him just as they did (Galatians 1:6), all the while deceived and believing that we are walking with and serving God!

Your Word for Today

“Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again: For whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into Everlasting Life (Jn. 4:13-14).

This scene at Jacob’s well is one of the most amazing in human history. The dread Judge of the quick and the dead and one of the vilest of sinners are met together. But He is there not to condemn her, but to seek and to save her. The Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, was sitting, weary and thirsty, by a well, but had no means even to quench His thirst. He, as Man, was dependent on an outcast woman for a little water.

His Grace and Love, rejected by Israel, now pour out their fullness upon an impure Samaritan — for Love is pained unless enabled to act. The floodgates of Grace lifted themselves up to bless the misery which Love pitied. Man’s heart, withered with self-righteousness, cannot understand this. Thus, sinners respond to the Grace which Pharisees proudly refuse; for Grace flows in the deep channels dug by sin and misery.

These two isolated hearts met — His, isolated by Holiness, for He was separate from sinners; hers, by sin, for she was separate from society — and this encounter of Holiness and sinfulness resulted in the Salvation of the sinner, for Jesus is “the Saviour.”

Apparently ashamed to come with the other women in the cool of the morning to draw water, she was obliged to come alone in the burning heat of the noonday sun. As with Nicodemus, so with the Samaritan, the Lord hastened to raise the question of sin in the conscience. Nicodemus was highly moral and the Samaritan, grossly immoral; yet was there no difference between them. Both were sinners needing cleansing and Salvation. But how different was the Lord’s method with each of them! The moralist was at once met with the abrupt word, “You must be born again,” but to the sinner, and One Who knew she was a sinner, He said, “Give Me to drink”!

A profession of faith in Christ which ignores the question of sin, the Holiness of God, the spirituality of worship as distinct from sacerdotal ceremonies, the need of pardon, and the condition of trust in an atoning and revealed Saviour — such a profession is worthless.

We learn from all of this that the Holy Spirit seeks people (16:13-15); the Father seeks worshippers (4:23); and the Son seeks sinners (Lk. 19:10).

Jesus did not pointedly reveal Himself to Nicodemus, but He did reveal Himself to this Samaritan woman.

Why not Nicodemus?

The sinner, exampled by the woman, accepts such, but self-righteousness, exampled by Nicodemus, could never accept such! Merit, in the one case, did not admit into Eternal Life, and demerit, in the other, did not exclude from it.

When Jesus, concerning the Messiah, said to the woman, “I am He!” — she was then saved by that Revelation (Mat. 11:27); for intelligence in Divine things comes by conscience and revelation and not by intellect.

Upon accepting Christ, “The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and said to the men (religious leaders of the city), Come, see a Man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” (4:28-29). This woman, who had been married five times, thus became the first Preacher of the Gospel to the Gentiles. So effective was her preaching that it caused a Revival. She became a vessel to receive and then to minister the gift of life.

And so can all who make Jesus the Saviour and the Lord of their lives.”

Bread Crumbs “Too Good To Be True” July 19

The only thing that sounds too good to be true in this life, that really is true, is the gospel. The only thing that promises to change your life, that will truly change your life for the good, is a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ. As human beings we are prone to search for fulfillment in every thing but the one thing that can truly satisfy. We labor to earn, we fight to own, we struggle to keep; but all this is in vain if we know not the Lord. The person who loses his life for the gospel’s sake is the only one that will ultimately experience gain without loss. The person who pursues everything but Christ will end up losing it all. So take a close introspective look at your present priorities. Are you focused on the only thing that can truly satisfy or are you in pursuit of something that you are guaranteed to be deprived of? The only pursuit that is able to produce peace, power, position, or prosperity of any lasting value or truly purposeful nature is the pursuit of a relationship with Jesus. Seek this first and God will then add to your life blessings that are just too good to be true!

Matthew 16:25 - For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 3:8
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

The Scripture’s preached the Gospel unto Abraham saying, “In you shall all nations be blessed”, because God would justify the heathen through faith. Before God touched the heart of Abraham with THE GOSPEL, he was himself an idol making and worshipping heathen. It always takes the Gospel, which is the message of what God would do through His Son, Jesus Christ for the atonement of man’s sins for anyone to be justified from their sins, and also a daily faith in THAT for their works to be seen as perfect before God (Revelation 3:2-3).

All of God’s Words are In Righteousness (Proverbs 8:8), and all of God’s Words are Truth (John 17:17), therefore for Righteousness to be seen, and for us to go from faith to faith (Be led of His Spirit), we must have our faith in the only place His Righteousness is revealed, which is in the gospel (Romans 1:16-17). When Truth is spoken, Righteousness is shown forth (Proverbs 12:17), therefore the Truth can never be separated from the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the message of the cross! Your Word for Today

“then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His Blood, you have no life in you. Whoso eats My flesh, and drinks My Blood, has Eternal Life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is meat indeed, and My Blood is drink indeed. Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you Twelve, and one of you is a Devil? He spoke of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was who should betray Him, being one of the Twelve (Jn. 6:53-55, 70-71).

The question is often asked, “Why did Judas do what he did?” How could he have been personally chosen by Christ, walk with Him for some three and a half years, witness the greatest array of miracles the world had ever known, and then betray the Master? The answer is found in the last half of this Sixth Chapter of the Gospel of John.

Judas did not appreciate the Message of the Cross, for that’s what the Message here was. Judas, in fact, totally rejected God’s Redemption Plan, which was the Cross of Calvary.

When Jesus spoke about “eating His flesh” and “drinking His Blood,” He was speaking of the Cross, i.e., the Sacrifice He would make there. He would offer up His Perfect Body as an Atonement for sin, thereby, in the giving of His Life, pour out His Precious Blood. This was the price that God demanded, and this was the price that Jesus would pay.

In this Message, more particularly Verses 53 through 56, Jesus proclaims the fact that the believing sinner must so embrace the Cross of Christ, that is, what Jesus did there, that he, in essence, and by Faith, becomes a part of Christ and what Christ did. It could be explained no better than Jesus, when He said, “He who eats My flesh, and drinks My Blood, dwells in Me, and I in Him” (6:56).

Whether Judas that day totally understood what Jesus meant, we cannot know; however, he most definitely came to understand what Jesus meant, and he fully rejected it. That’s why Judas betrayed the Lord! He did not want the Cross, nor any part of the Cross, just as millions presently follow the same path.

Regrettably and sadly, the far greater majority in the modern Church have also rejected the Cross. As Cain of old, they see no need for a Sacrifice. They are willing to accept Jesus as a great Prophet, a great Statesman, even a great Miracle Worker, but the Cross? No!

However, the following should be noted:
1. The only way to God is through Jesus Christ (Jn. 14:6).
2. The only way to Jesus Christ is through the Cross (Lk. 9:23).
3. The only way to the Cross is by and through a denial of self (Lk. 9:23).
4. The only way to deny self is by looking to Christ and the Cross (Rom. 6:3-5).”

Your Word for Today

“and as He sat upon the Mount of Olives, the Disciples came unto Him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the world? (Mat. 24:3).

Jesus, the God of Israel, having forsaken His House, it becomes morally leprous — as all become that He forsakes — and in harmony with Leviticus 14:45, He predicted that not one stone of it should be left upon another. He began His Ministry on a mountain, the Mount of Beatitudes, and closed it on another mountain, the Mount of Olives.

Christ offered the Kingdom to Israel, but He and it were refused. Consequently, even as He will say in this Twenty-fourth Chapter, this subjected the world to continued wars, famines, earthquakes, etc. — a continued time frame which has lasted now for nearly twenty centuries.

Most of this Chapter refers to Israel; however, the first fourteen Verses refer to the Church Age directly, and the Church, per se, indirectly. Three particulars stand out. They are:

1. “Deception”: “For many shall come in My Name, saying, I am (of) Christ; and shall deceive many.” Deception is one of Satan’s most powerful weapons. The answer to deception is a firm understanding of the Word of God, which translates into a firm understanding of Christ and the Cross.

2. “False prophets”: “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.” If the Message is not “Jesus Christ and Him Crucified,” then the person must be labeled a “false prophet.”

3. “The Gospel”: “And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; then shall the end come.” Despite the false apostles and the false ways, the prediction is that the Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached “unto all nations.” It does not say, “all people”; but it does say, “all nations.” We have personally aired Gospel programming by Television in approximately 35 nations, with the Message translated into their language, whatever that language might have been.

The phrase, “And then shall the end come,” plainly tells us that the Gospel of Jesus Christ being preached all over the world proclaims the fact that the Church Age is about over.

The Fifteenth Verse of the Twenty-fourth Chapter of Matthew signals the Great Tribulation. All of this means that the Church should be getting ready for the Rapture (I Thess. 4:13-18).”

Bread Crumbs “Washed In The Blood” July 20

Where have all my failures gone? Where are all the defeats of last year, last month, the last hour? They are washed away beneath the blood of Christ. They were placed there through the agency of simple faith; faith that was expressed in the completed work of Christ on Calvary. They are removed from me as far as the East is from the West, placed underneath the waves of God’s sea of forgetfulness. I do not live under a verdict of “guilty!” There is therefore now no condemnation attached to my name! Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute sin and I am that man! Though I deserve banishment and pain, though I deserve hurt and despair, though I have earned the right to be rejected, I am not. Instead, I am cleansed. I am washed. I am accepted in the beloved! I am sanctified. I am purified by my faith in Christ. He paid the price. He took my punishment. He gave His life. He tasted death so that I will never have to. So to all my failures I proclaim, “Behold the lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.” He has taken my sin away!

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 3:9
So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Not just any faith, but the right object of faith is that which blessed Abraham, and allowed God to see him as faithful. That was faith in God who could justify the ungodly (Romans 4:4-6), which He would do through the sacrifice of the Promised Savior that He would send (Genesis 3:15). Abraham had to hear the gospel (v. or his faith would be no faith that God could recognize. Remember Cain and Abel. Nothing has changed concerning the avenue of approach to God! God only honors and blesses what He is a part of and is doing, and He only works in the Truth (Psalm 33:4, Romans 8:2). The Truth is Jesus Christ and Him crucified!

Jesus told those who were rejecting Him that Abraham saw His day and rejoiced (John 8:56), therefore we have the confirmation of what verse 8 has told us, that Abraham had the gospel preached to him and rejoiced. More than likely it was when Abraham took his Son, Isaac, up on the mountain under God’s command to sacrifice him, and when Isaac asked his Father where the sacrifice was, Abraham told him, “The Lord will provide HIMSELF a Lamb for a sacrifice” (Genesis 22:8-13). Glory to God!! The question today for all of God’s people is, “Are we still trusting in the Lamb which God provided, which was His Son Jesus Christ?” For it is not HOW MUCH faith we have, but rather what our faith is in which will determine if God is pleased, and if God will be found working in our midst. So who are those on the earth today who are blessed? Those who have the same faith Abraham had, which is faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Bread Crumbs “King of Kings” July 21

There is coming a day and there is coming an hour when the world will meet the true King of Kings. This title has been inappropriately attached to quite a number of men down through the centuries. But there is only one man who truly qualifies as the King of Kings. His name is Jesus of Nazareth. He was born of a virgin. He lived a perfect and sinless life. He is the Son of God! He came to earth for the specific purpose of carrying out God’s redemption plan. He did this by freely giving Himself as a sacrifice for sin and dying as a payment for the sin of men. Those who have accepted Him by faith know Him for His majestic power and His merciful heart. To those who embrace Him, Jesus becomes the broken-heart healer, the water walker, the miracle worker, the all-knowing, all-powerful, never ending source of strength, and hope of all mankind. He has never failed, never quit, never been stopped, never stalls, and cannot be defeated. His victory is sure, the fall of his enemies swift, and the security of His people assured! Do you know Him? I am so glad to be able to say that I do!

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 3:10
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

Remember the reason for, and the context of this letter as we read and study along together. The Galatian Church was being tempted to begin to live under the Law, and never forget that there is no Life under Law, as Life is only found under Grace. The Sin Nature dominates under Law, but is refused the right to dominate us while we are under Grace (Romans 6:14). To keep it very simple and easy to understand, when we are trusting in anything other than what Christ did at Calvary, we are committing spiritual adultery and our service is to Sin (The Sin Nature) (Romans 6:16).

The curse of the Law is death, and death is separation. This is why Paul tells the Galatian Church in the opening of his letter (Chapter 1:6) that he marvels at how they have so QUICKLY removed themselves from the One who called them into the Grace of Christ. Grace does not function while we are attempting to be saved, or to find deliverance and daily victory through any other means than faith in Christ and what He did by Grace (Hebrews 2:9), through faith (Galatians 2:20) for us. Many Christians think when they hear the word ‘Law’ only of the Ten Commandments, but Law refers to ANYTHING we think we can actually do other than believe in what Christ has done for us at the Cross for Salvation and ALL Grace for the daily provision to carry out the will of God!
