That was not point we were discussing if you recall... the point was that James was in fact already speaking to believers who knew the gospel.

I can only speculate... but probably questioning the apostolic authority of the book of James on this thread.

I do think he could have been persuaded... unfortunately I was busy on another thread which denied the Love of God for the World!!

He had the Gospel right.... that is more than I can say for some.

James makes it clear that there are those in his audience that had not received the word and their souls were not saved.

21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Do you see a distinction between spiritual salvation (born from above) and the salvation of the soul?

Yes, Just like today, Many do not believe the gospel And hence james words are just as valid to us today as they were to those who wrote to.

But, that goes against the belief that he’s writing to Jewish Christians. Jewish Christians have already received the word and have their souls saved.

he is writing to jewish churches you could say. The people were scattered.. His letters went to each of the places into which they were scattered. and the local congregations would have read the letters to its people.

He did not send individual letters to individual people.

And even in churches today. Pastors or teachers teach the word. but also give the gospel. never assuming everyone in their congregation is saved.

Yes, but Paul writes specifically to the body of Christ. So, you would agree that it’s wrong to say that James is writing to Jewish believers?

And his audience is not the dispersed from Acts 8...

Paul wrote to gentile churches
James wrote to jewish

Other than that, there really is no difference.

The context of what is written is what matters..

Did Paul write to lost people? When Paul wrote to the Church at Rome, he’s writing specifically to believers at Rome, not to a group of people who gather together that may include lost people. The word Church as Paul uses it is a reference to the body of Christ.

Did Paul speak of false prophets in the churches (unsaved) did paul not warn people to make sure their faith was pure. did he not do so much?

once again as always. I am done.

I can not agree with you about James. been here too many times. time to move on once again

Yes, but he’s telling that to the body of Christ. James is directly addressing those who are not saved. Big difference. The address in itself, twelve tribes, is not conducive to the body of Christ. Its counter productive since there are no Jews or Gentiles in the body of Christ.
