Where does your that disagree with Scripture? And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
oh you love exactitude ... when it suits you, what about our Lord's own words "baptising them in the name of the Father and the SON and the Holy Ghost" did Peter forget the Father?

Jesus went on to say "those who believe and are baptised shall be saved, those who believe not shall be damned"

"... who believe not ..." He doesn't say "who believe not and are not baptised"

I have said in a previous post those who are insisting upon the absolute necessity of water baptism are going against the testament of MILLIONS of Christians down the ages who know their sins are forgiven and experience the new birth before water baptism some never do get baptised ... for a 1, 000 years biblical baptism was replaced by sprinkling.

Here is something folks ought to know, God may make a rule or ordinance but whether or not He enforces the laws and ordinances He makes is according to His own sovereign grace. Baptism is an ordinance not a sacrament, sacraments impart nothing.

I have met Christians who have told me that God told them they must be baptised and I believe them ... their salvation would not depend upon it but their joy with the Lord might be forfeit.

Didn't roman tradition start with Constantinople in 300 AD? 1700 years of tradition?

What about What Christ Says In Scripture About that Very thing?
[ Borrowed from Handling The Word Of Life ]:

Now, Considering ‘search and think about Eternal Life’ From Scripture,
as compared to “from religious tradition”? How did “that work out”?

JESUS asked:

Mt 15:3 “Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?"

JESUS, With Authority From His Father, spoke:

Mt 15:6 “Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.”

Mr 7:8 “laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.”

God, The SON, still With Authority, gave Final Condemnation of 'tradition ':

Mr 7:9 “And HE said unto them Full Well ye Reject The Commandment of GOD, that ye may 'keep your own’ tradition.”

MIShandled and irresponsible, Correct?

+

@peldom10 asked "How is baptism [ traditions ] hurting anyone?":

12 problems/traditions/rituals of water Confusion that don't hurt anyone???
:) 1700 years - 500 or so since the reformation.

Evmur, I'm sorry you disagree with my posts, I was just quoting God's Scripture/Word.

Peter only told those who0 repented and recieved the spirit to be baptized. If you studied more, you might see this
If I studied more? Four degrees, 60 books, dissertation for a Ph.D. Lecturing at Bible College, plus, plus. What more do you want? Have you achieved all this? If not can I suggest you apologize for your arrogance.

I pray you did not waste all that money..

Artiose, you made it very clear in your post that you don't agree with Scripture when Scripture disagrees with you. You posted, "Matthew is noted as having a few transcribe errors or deliberate forgeries and this could be one of them…"

You've set your opinions above Scripture, God's Word, because you don't want to believe Scripture. Sad but true. When Scripture doesn't agree with you, you say it's a forgery.
Whatever jollies you get from trying to discredit me I hope it’s working for you.

I have explained my reasoning behind this scripture and asked you to refute it by providing biblical proof …you can’t ….there is nothing to substantiate that formula. Whereas multiple times with thousands being baptized in the name of “”Jesus Christ”” are cited in the Bible… which are also the Words of Jesus Christ (Gal 1:11&12).

In fact, Acts was written around 35 years after Pentecost…. where Peter in Act 2:38 gave his great sermon and many were baptized. These words which were given to Luke to write some 35 years later Were given by revelation from Jesus Christ….. ((Jesus Christ’s own words)) And yet there is no mention of Peter getting it wrong on Pentecost …additionally in the name of Jesus Christ is used several more times.

So …. When you are pointing the finger at me ….that I deny Christ's own words … in reality, you are pointing the finger back at yourself. I am just affirming what Jesus Christ stated several times in Acts.

Don't worry. You will get over it.
No I wont.

Because I was baptized by the spirit of the living God into the death and burial of Christ,. Into Christ himself and his body (Rom 6, 1 cor 12 and Gal 3)

I obeyed the command of Jesus and was baptized in water a year later.

If your trying to get to heaven through water baptism, You will not get over it.. You will be in dire need.

When I posted this article, I knew that one thing was going to happen for sure. There would be plenty of people who would say
that baptism in water is irrelevant. All sorts of interpretations would be put forward to show why water baptism is irrelevant.
My apologies, as I have not read every post in this thread, but can you show
me where plenty of people have said that water baptism is irrelevant?

Last week I read that there were 44,000 denominations. That in itself must make God cry. But that is not the subject of this post. What I want to ask is WHY most of them ignore the teaching of baptism and impose their own interpretation.
Your OP is a fine example of WHY. Everyone wants to replace salvation by faith with salvation by ritual.

Is God stupid?

I ask because everyone who preaches this "only baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is valid" doctrine has to believe God to be a complete retard.

So you mean to tell me that someone who reads Matthew's Gospel and gets baptized in the name of the Father, The Son and the Holy Ghost is actually NOT baptized properly? God is too dumb to figure out, who is the SON there?

You make the case that you can't make a doctrine out of one verse, well, the book of Acts is not exact either, is it Jesus or Lord Jesus or Christ Jesus or Jesus Christ? What name?

I could easily make a counter argument and say: The book of Acts is a historical book and uses an abbreviation of the baptismal formula. As we know from the didache the early church DID baptize in the name of the Father/Son/Holy Ghost and have been doing so throughout centuries.

I am making the point that "name" does not mean JOHN DOE necessarily, name means in the authority of something. For example "stop in the name of the law", no one is going to wonder what NAME law has, what is law's name? is it Ryan? You have to ask the officer that.

All this to say, don't fall for this cultic interpretation and know that God is not an idiot, if you were baptized according to Father/Son/Holy Ghost baptism your baptism is VALID. If you were baptized according to Jesus' name baptism your baptism is VALID. Both are in the Bible and God knows the intention and God sees you OBEYED from your heart that which you saw in the Scriptures

No. I will leave you to scroll through and find them for yourself.
I searched each page and found that only you used the word. It showed up also when Arthur
quoted you, and when I asked you about it. Otherwise, nobody said water baptism was irrelevant.

But Magenta, some people say that you need to be submerged a certain depth in the water. An exact 5.7 centimeters or 570 millimeters.
What do you think about this important detail?
I will also bring the coffee and food for the international conference of Christian denominations by the way.

Dear oh dear. Your knowledge of scripture is very limited. I seem to remember that the scripture says that all the books in the world could not contain what Jesus preached..
All those "books" are not the Bible.

So, just accept that the Bible is the final authority, and that Paul's Doctrine is the core of the NT.
