I'm sure all of you already know, as it's been all over the news today.

He's dead and was only 57.

His dear friend, and a faithful Christian, Vanity, died just 2 months ago (Feb 15th) and was 57 as well.

So many people die every day...many so young, never given the opportunity to see adulthood or old age..

This makes me think of the book of James where James mentions how this life is but a vapor...

oh sorry, I didn't know there was already a thread started about him.

I never knew his religious beliefs, so my term is more of generalization. What was his belief system? Did he know Christ?

He was so private that I honestly don't recall him ever mentioning anything.

He converted to jehovah witness back in 2001.

This thread is just fine, Sister Lonelyinct. I'd rather comment here than on that other thread where they're bashing Prince and condemning him to hell.

Contrary to the negative things they said on that other thread about him, Prince Rogers Nelson actually professed to be a conservative Christian, was baptized in Jesus' name, was a Republican and against gay marriage. Only God knows his heart and I believe God is merciful and did not fail Prince, in spite of the joy people take in speaking an eternal death sentence over him.

I did read about Denise Katrina Matthews giving up her stage name "Vanity" when she became a Christian and her testimony is amazing. It's sad though that her health deteriorated after years of drug addiction. But praise GOD Denise is now beholding the face of the King of Glory, as I believe Prince is, too.

Thank you for your reply, AuntieAnt.

Maybe I'll keep this thread alive as a positive tribute to his musicianship. Since there are conflicting reports concerning Prince's belief in Christ, I'll settle the matter by saying that the Lord is the only one who knows and will judge him accordingly. For all we know, or don't know, prince could have converted days, hours, or even minutes before he died.

So I will leave his eternal fate in the only place it belongs: and that is in the hands of our Father.

Hallelujah!! And we know that with God all things are possible and that He would go after the one sheep in 99 and would that none be lost. Bless the name of our merciful Lord and Savior for His great faithfulness to us all!!

I post this in memory of Prince and of Denise and in faith that the Lord has completed what He started in them, as He promised!

I did not know Prince personally so I don't know what kind of Christian he was. I will leave that up to God.

I confess that I was no fan of Prince. Today they have been saying he was JW but I would be very happy to know that he had converted to Christianity. I had thought I had heard that some time ago and hope it was true.

Conficting reports? Go to youtube where he himself talks about his JW walk. Nothing is conflicting.

Honestly, to hear Prince say that he is a Christian and to speak of Jesus Christ being his Lord, was enough for me. I put no stock in any religious doctrine or creed anyway so I don't really care what denomination he was. All I have to do is read through all the Bible Discussion Forum threads to remember the hellish bondage I was in for years as an active member of pentecostal and the nondenominational churches. I was so brainwashed with traditions of men and burdened with so many religious practices and false beliefs, namely the "conviction and confession" trip. And the "losing your salvation" lie and horrible condemnations, guilt trips, fear mongering & hellfire judgments finally drove me away.

So I don't care what denomination Prince was on this earth, because his lifestyle can't be any worse than what goes on day after day in the Bible Discussion Forum under the "Christian" banner.

Be careful! The ones who have itchy ears will call you a meanie:)
It's uncanny that wherever you go in these forums, negativity takes root. I wonder why that is?

Perhaps you should practice speaking LIFE rather than DEATH wherever you go.

How is being a JW worse than having "feet that are swift in running into mischief"?

Yeah I can see where being in a religion where their faith statement denies the deity wouldnt matter to God....
