I'm not a big Hillsong fan and try not to judge artists too much, but this is just plain weird for the Christmas song "Silent Night."
It looks exactly like a broadway show!

There is definitely nothing silent about it! i mean, wow!

has anyone else seen this? there are some Christian groups going off on it like speculating that Hillsong is the "lukewarm Church of Laodecia" misleading millions of people. Same church that's saying Islam has the same God as Christianity, accepting cultural shifts like gay marriage, etc.

Just thought i'd share, cuz i've never seen anything like this song done so over-the-top. weirdness!

I don't think Hillsong as a church believes any of those things are biblical (gay marriage etc), but I'm sure there are individuals within the church who believe such things. Either way, this video creeps me out. I'm all for 1920s swing music (not really one for Chicago-type stuff though) but making it "Silent Night"? That just doesn't work on any level.

Wow! I've never seen Hillsong go this over the top before hahaha
I think the main thing people have issue with when it comes to Hillsong would be their Latter Rain and Dominion Theology teaching. I've heard other people speak regarding their attaining a status where the laity idolize them.

Seems to me to be the intent of the song. If it was meant as part of the worship service, then yeah, pretty messed up. But if it was meant as an entertainment number, then, though i didn't like it at all, it's more reasonable. The timing and intent makes a difference in how to perceive it.

Yes, for me it was more that the song doesn't suit the choreography and theme at all. It's a poorly thought-out cover but with high production values.

Yeah from what I've seen of them, they seem to be incredibly humble. Idk what their religious beliefs are as a church though. Are they always the same people or do they switch out members?

From a web article:

“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” Revelation 3:14-18 (KJV)

Hillsong Church is the perfect poster child for what the prophesied church of Laodicea looks like. They are rich, increased with goods, have need of nothing, and yet are amazingly unaware that they are poor, wretched, miserable and blind, leading millions astray with their pyrotechnic easy believism.

A quick Google search of Hillsong Christmas songs leads you to all sorts of Laodicean goodies like nearly naked “drummer boys”, and lots of songs about Santa Claus and Rudolf. Hillsong is one of the largest churches in the world for the same reason why all your kid’s friends would want to eat breakfast at your house if all you ever served was donuts and coca-cola. The way they see it, the life-saving gospel of Jesus Christ is just a little too boring on its own, and needs the “lights, camera, action!” of the world to “make it sell”.

I imagine it's like Bethel Church and Jesus Culture. That they have many worship band members and switch them around.

I wonder if i should feel guilty for liking that "touch the sky" song...since the way the haters talk about them (Hillsong) makes me wonder if there are hidden illuminati messages in their worship songs or something! hmmm....

I used to really love this song and even used to sing it myself a lot. Now i just feel weird about it knowing what i know. Maybe i'm just reading too much into all the condemning hype about how we should have "nothing whatsover to do with this wicked church"...but some of their songs are so good but i don't want to disobey God either! Ya see what i'm saying?

I hope you're being sarcastic, because that comment is...

Well, so far i haven't felt any serious red flags from God with the songs themselves...so I will continue to sing them in good faith. But the website i was led to "Now the end begins" was rather intriguing to say the least...lotta end times stuff focused on current events.

Anyway that's how i feel about some of those songs and i'm sticking to it! I'm a big music lover in general and i even have some *gasp* secular music in my collection...So i don't care if people are gonna judge me on that.

I also sing a lot of broadway stuff too, that's why the video i posted caught my eye and didn't make sense in my brain. But i still think broadway should stay on broadway and local musical theatre not inter-mixed with Christian songs!

Well, it sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders. It's important to remember that not everyone on the Internet does. There are a lot of wackos here. Even on CC. If I were you, and you don't hear God saying otherwise, I'd keep listening to Hillsong too. I love some of their stuff, but for me, I'm now more into the Bethel Music and Jesus Culture scene (and the solo acts that have branched from their huge worship bands).
