It's very telling the state of what is considered christendom when so many that say they are Christians.... are taping their toes to and enjoying worldly music

It's too bad to see so many being friends with the world... as though there not a lot of really good Christian music out there they could be listening to instead rather than putting the darkness of this world into their minds, and emotions. SMH clueless-doh.gif

Yep, and it's the Lord's opinion we see in His Word where we see He's not in agreement with His people playing with this world's ways of thinking

Yeah, God says to avoid secular music. Gospel of Lock.

Here's what is problematic in the church, at least State-side...

* Churches displaying rainbow flags or that promote abortion.

* Churches that have male worship leaders dressed as women.

• Churches in which the pastor preaches secular sermons, but throws in Christ for the last 20% of it. There's a church near me in Chandler, AZ in which I saw this. And, the way the women dressed. Geeez. Worse than the gym. First and last time for me.

• Christians who have a sinful habit, but rationalize it away. (I heard about a young woman in a church in Los Angeles who was seeking a FWB, because she said God knew she had "needs".)

If you're going to actually condemn your brothers and sisters as worldly because they listen to Immigrant Song, you're the kind of Christian who may need to rethink his spiritual priorities.

The American church is not in good shape right now. Listening to non-Christian music is not one of the top-most problems.

Actually I leaned from God's Word that a little leaven spoils the whole loaf.... music is a power vehicle to covey thoughts, ideas, and emotions and it's one of the most power tools the devil uses to indoctrinate people to his evil and dark mind set.

So, my priorities are right where they need to be as secular music is a big no no for anyone that actually loves the Lord and wants to please Him.

Sure there are other big fish to fry, but secular music prepares people's minds and emotions to go dark.,.. just how the devil likes it!

It's sin for you, and that's fine. So avoid it. Your mind's apparently influenced by it, so perhaps this is best. But, some of us are not so susceptible.

Been listening to secular rock now for decades. I do not see a falling away or the slow creep of worldliness into my life because of it. Never did. In fact, I see the opposite.

We're all at different places with respect to our sanctification and walk with God. Each of us have different needs and priorities. Yes, there are absolutes, but God does not apply a one-size-fits-all methodology to all His kids.

I think you need to examine why it is you take such extreme positions and then judge and, for all intents and purposes, condemn others for not taking those same, extreme positions.

Unfortunately you don't seem to understand that listening to this worldly music is a very worldly thing to do in and of itself. So maybe it doesn't tempt you to go out and use drugs or act immorally; you're still making friendship with the world.

we still are waiting for some examples of worldly music that has no ungodly content. is it true that you think all & any music should be for God's glory? i never saw in the Bible where He commands us to ONLY write & play Christian music. i, myself am a professional drummer. i tried for decades to get together a Christian band & no one around here wants to play in one. some did but weren't good enough. in fact, early this year my brother who is an excellent guitarist called me with an idea to initiate a Christian band but no one good enough, still.

If the purpose of the musician was to make music for any other motive than to glorify God and lift up the Lord Jesus Christ... it's ungodly music.

Why not get together with your brother and create music in a stdio setting with uplifting lyrics about the Lord and post it on youtube as a blessing to other believers for their encouragement?

It doesn't have to be a full blown band... you play drums, he can play guitar... write some good lyrics and create the melodies and while all that is in progress believe the Lord to help find a good vocalist. Unless you or your brother can sing.

There is a real need for Christian music that... when you listen to it people know it's about the Lord Jesus... and here's one better... music that is pleasing unto the Lord personally! Something Jesus would tap His toe to and would enjoy hearing! thumbsup2.gif

i totally disagree. by course, i don't mean evil music. but if it's in the Bible what you said, it'll believe what you said. tell me where it is in there so i can read it.

we talked about it but he's too far away. too bad because he's an outstanding guitarist. very skilled in rock, classical rock & jazz. classical rock meaning scales in mozart, straus, beethoven. i influenced him to start on that because that stuff is quite difficult.

what person do you mean when you say, "his godless attitude"? and why are you saying, "i need love" to do this? i'm a born again Christian. have been for 30 years. 1 of those ways i showed that was taking care of elderly & handicapped people for 37 years. please explain all that you mean & i thank you for it.
