I used to be someone who always listened to stations like K-Love. A few years ago where I live K-Love moved to another channel and in that channels place came a new Christian station which is slightly better, more rock, some hip hop mixed in but still has the same problems. In CCM stations whether it be local or satellite, all the songs sounds the same, same repetitive chords and voices. Nothing just sounds creative, it's all bland. It's all boring. I am a Christian but I admit I do have my own musical tastes and the slow worship songs are fine but not for me. Why does Christian radio have the most boring and bland collection of Christian music? You really have to search for actual good Christian artist, I been looking at more indie Christian musicians and other alternative bands who you won't hear on CCM radio and they are great. I would love to turn on the radio and hear some hard rock, any form of hip hop, alternative rock, ecteronic style music. The hardest rock they'll have is Casting Crowns. The only Skillet songs I've heard were any of their soft ballads. There is nothing wrong with adding some The Letter Black on the radio. Sometimes I would rather listen to secular music because those artists for the most part care about creating art, why can't Christian music have that mentality, you can still worship God while creating something good.
Depends on what you mean by good. I like Bach and Handel. You won't hear that on the radio, even though they were both Christians. I think a lot of Casting Crowns is to "rocky". I have a Hymns CD of theirs and it's fine. What is boring and bland to you is the best to to others.

Radio stations generally try to play to what audience they think will listen. We have one Christian radio station where I live. I don't listen because I don't like the modern sound. I expect I'm in the minority. Christian music is a business. They do regular surveys to see what works and what does not. There is no point playing music that only a handful of people listen to. So back to Bach and Handel.... I have to buy CD's if I want to listen to them.

They were inspired by Chuck Berry, but I wouldn't argue they sounded like Chuck Berry cover bands with less talent and slightly warped lyrics.

If you're comfortable crossing that bridge, we'll have to agree to disagree hahahaha

Well the Beatles and the Beach Boys started of copying Chuck Berry and look how they turned out.

Easily explained. It's radio friendly and non-offensive to most audiences. It's a money maker. Next!

Too many CCM songs sound more like love songs to your wife than to the Lord. Yuck!

Agreed! I want more steel pedal guitar and banjo in my worship!

Personally, my favorite bands are ELO and Runrig (a Scottish folk-rock band), although my most listened to song on Spotify is "Who am I" by Casting Crowns. Although, that may be because I listen to that song most when I've forgotten my identity in Christ and have not been living in the Spirit.

Have you ever heard of Theocracy? They're easily searchable on YouTube / Spotify and have a hard metal sound with some really powerful lyrics. Then, I like Daughtry's music, but not everyone is into the 00's post-grunge scene.

I'm sure there's a money factor.

I wonder if part of the money factor is donations from people who want ONLY the blandest (repetitive) praise/worship and syrupy inspirational songs? Not that the choir doesn't need some edification; but is there room for anything else?

Lyrically, most of these songs are preaching to the choir, not sitting down with tax collectors and prostitutes. Musically, 95% is cliche. I thought I read somewhere to "make a new song" and "To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings." It seems "going secular" is only way to the mission field.

It's also "trendy".

Take the name of Jesus or God out of most popular Christan music and replace it with a common name like "Mike". It sounds more like a love song to a boyfriend. To masuline men, it's homo erotic. It's honestly repelling.

Most music that is generally available, especially on radio stations/broadcasters is pop music. Popular music. Music designed to be bought. Stuff that this is lowest common denominator so as many people as possible, at the current time, will like it. That doesn't mean it's all bad but it's not exactly exciting. You have to look elsewhere...there is real art being done and with the 'net you just need to go and find it. Sorry I have no suggestions :D

1Jn 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jn 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

There is a reason the world plays the type of music they do because they are of the world and that music gets their flesh going if it is rock, heavy metal, or rap.

I do not understand how Christian music can employ the same type of music that the world plays who are of the flesh.

Can someone explain.

I've listened to k-love a lot because I go on road trips a lot -- it's somewhat painful and very repetitive. If that's your source, mostly everything will be bland. There is so much good stuff out there though. Some recommendations would include Unspoken, Colton Dixon, and Micah Tyler. If you're looking for indie or something very very fresh and different look into Jon Lowry and Andrew Kurtz (for the latter don't much about him, but he has a good song "Baptized").

Because many of the people now playing that particular type of music CAME from the culture that had that particular type of music. Rap is not satanic. There are people that rap straight up GOSPEL. There is gospel type music (I mean stylistically) that is about taking your date home.
Also, people try to use a particular style of music because they know there are many unsaved people listening to that style of music.

When does G C Em D in 4/4 become evil?

I play guitar. There are certain rhythms that are not of God. I like some classical music. JS Bach was a born again believer. There is something different about his music. Others have a similar style but they were not spiritual people.

Much music excites the soul but leaves the spirit cold. I've watched some Christian concerts. I turn the sound down. There is very little difference between the Christians and a secular concert.

We need to look at the fruit. Very often, it is just entertainment. People go home no different from when they arrived. Except in some cases, with hearing damage.

Music can be a wonderful blessing or a blight. We need the Lord to show us the difference.

Pretty funny because after reading what you wrote I looked at your signature "Lord Jesus did not come to make bad people good. He came to make dead people alive" (GK Chesterton) which reminded of this album that you would probably consider evil. It has that quote said by some preacher in the middle of it.
To be clear, not laughing at you. Just that the situation is kind of funny.

This was this guy's lifestyle. He's talented and it's what he does well so he continued in that vein. A lot of believers in that culture say just that....you know....we're woodcarvers, we carved idols. Now we're children of the Most High and now we carve for Him.

Literally in the 1st 30 seconds.

My first post here. I'm am atheist, raised Catholic, so a different perspective from most on here, perhaps.

There is a lot of untrue statements throughout this thread. I'm not going to point out anything in particular out, but this post is on the right track.

The repetitiveness of the lyrics, the chords, and the tone is boring and honestly quite unappealing, to say the least.

If I'm not mistaken, there are clues in the Bible, particularly the OT, where the crashing of cymbals (percussion) and blowing of horns is promoted by your god. These are clues that music is NOT supposed to be boring, repetitive, etc. It's actually almost depressing.

Take "Ode to Joy" as an example. It is upbeat, runs up and down the scales, has a very heavy almost rock-and-roll (African)-style beat and is very celebratory in nature. It is entirely uplifting, and as an atheist, one of my personal favorite pieces of music of all time. It's an absolutely beautiful peice of music.

As for the "Homoerotic" nature of CCM music, it is also extremely selfish. It's always "me," and "I." How "I am saved," etc. That gets very old very quickly, and is in all honesty, shallow.

The very best, most inspirational pieces of music is NOT about the self, but rather about unity, peace, and understanding between different people. John Lennon is a great example;

I know this is a Christian forum, but many posts in this thread have basically been trying to downplay secular rock as being unfulfilling. John Lennon's "Imagine" is a great example of what I'm talking about in the previous paragraph. It is the opposite of selfish. While that particular song almost sounds like CCM-style: boring, repetive, limited chords, the lyrics are actually inspirational. He's not bragging about how he was "saved" and having a homoerotic narrative with Jesus. Instead, it is very much along the lines of what Jesus was actually trying to say throughout most of the New Testament;

Tolerance, love, acceptance, and peace.

As for hard rock style, again, it can be inspirational with the correct lyrics. "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Idol.

This is one of my all-time favorite peices of music as well. The lyrics about the horrors of the 20th century, connect with the grungy, angry nature of the music.
Anger is an entirely natural emotion, that even the Bible promotes. No Christian should ever deny the legitimacy, power, and righteousness of anger. Billy Idol in We Didn't Start the Fire was RAGING against the injustices of the world. Expressing that rage, and trying to turn it into righteousness in fighting against it, and resisting the evil. Racism, murder, rape, genocide, torture, starvation; the strongmen imposing their will on the world. Anger is a high emotion that music, secular or otherwise, is easy to tap into. It doesn't have to be Christian in nature to be just, and Christians can certainly use these various styles for their purposes as well. For isntance:

Jesus supposedly preached about feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the poor, and forgiving the sinner, correct? Instead of making the 5,789th CCM song about how you were personally saved with the same boring three chords....why not instead write songs to promote the actual nature of Christ? Nobody wants to hear about your moment of being saved. They want to hear more inspirational topics.

and finally...

most of the music most Christians call "Satanic," (like heavy metal), have been all directly inspired by the great classics like Beethoven, Bach, etc.

sorry about a long first post.

Why does thou be an atheist for it does not make sense.

Isa 41:21 Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.
Isa 41:22 Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
Isa 41:23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
Isa 41:24 Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.
Isa 41:26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.
Isa 41:28 For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
Isa 41:29 Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.

God challenges all religions and people to prove that their religions and god are true by showing the end from the beginning.

God already showed us the end from the beginning which He told us the whole history of mankind.

Told us of all the kingdoms that would come one after the other with the next kingdom to come is the world split in to ten sections with a leader in each section which is possible today which the world will come together as one because of the problems of the world especially the threat of nuclear war.

It is all planned out and controlled conflict brings about controlled change.

The next kingdom is the New Age Christ kingdom which will deceive all people who do not love God.

Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

chi xi stigma
khee xee stig'-ma
The 22nd, 14th and an obsolete letter (G4742 as a cross) of the Greek alphabet (intermediate between the 5th and 6th), used as numbers; denoting respectively 600, 60 and 6; 666 as a numeral: - six hundred threescore and six.

stigma
stig'-mah
From a primary word στίζω stizō (to “stick”, that is, prick); a mark incised or punched (for recognition of ownership), that is, (figuratively) scar of service: - mark.

The mark will be a device that is put under the skin for the definition is to stick, prick, which can be a hypodermic needle that puts the mark in the person, and a mark incised or punched which is referring it to be put in something which is under the skin for the mark is given to people.

The mark of the beast has to do with technology for the beast's agenda is there is no personal God to help mankind, and benefit them, but mankind's technology and devices can help to achieve peace on earth.

Which will be a microchip just under the skin linked to satellite with all information about the person on the chip including finances for no person can buy or sell without the mark, and to cut down on crime for if a crime happens they will know who was in the location and how close they were to the crime scene, and can locate lost people or whoever they want to locate.

Going along with the beast's agenda and worshipping the beast precedes taking the mark of the beast, and when they take the mark then repentance and salvation are no longer available to the world, and God can end sin on earth.

The New Age Christ, beast, will be of the occult, and the occult believes in the power of numbers for they are about the power of nature, and the adding, timing, and grouping of numbers which they believe will give them more power through nature.

The number 6 is the number of a man, or the soul of a man, so the New Age Christ assigned himself the number 666, a triple 6, for he believes it will give him more power through nature to evolve to be greater and spiritual, and to establish his kingdom.

The New Age Christ will work in the world for three and one half years and push the agenda of the new age movement to condition the world to accept him when he claims to be God.

The coronavirus will be an excuse to give people a microchip to identify who has been vaccinated and unvaccinated and only those with the chip can buy and sell.

Continued,

Why the world rebels against God.

1. Evolution.

2. Gave birth to the new age movement that interprets the Bible, and religions according to the occult and evolution, and people are still evolving to be spiritual.

3. The occult believes in astrology, horoscope, and this is the age of Aquarius the age of peace so they will try to pursue that peace on earth for they believe nature would want them to do that so they will harmonize the nations governments and religions with all religions interpreted according to the new age movement.

4. They do not believe the New Age Christ will help them to evolve and have peace until the nations come together as one and work for peace on earth a global government and global religion so they will work on that.

5. The New Age Christ will be of the new age movement and the occult and when he works in the world he will push the agenda of the new age movement until the world rebels against God.

6. Technology that caused them to be able to communicate with each other to come together but it is not according to the will of God.

The new age movement the beginning of the end.

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

God warns the saints of the new age movement, and their interpretation of the Bible based on the occult, and evolution, and people are still evolving to be spiritual provided by the New Age Christ, and Jesus is not Lord and Savior, but a good teacher and love, and the Christ conscience came upon him, and he evolved to be an ascended master, and believe in no personal God, but honor the God of forces, or the power of nature as their higher power, the evolutionary process, and the New Age Christ is the final teacher, and they believe the Christ conscience will come upon him, and he will evolve to be greater than Jesus, and share this power with all people who follow him.

They will forbid to marry for a man and a woman for population reduction, and command to abstain from meats, reverence of nature, mother earth.

The new age movement will pave the way to the beast kingdom for all people who do not love God where they will take the mark of the beast, and then repentance and salvation are no longer available to the world, and God will end sin on earth, and have His people will Him.

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables(2 Timothy 4:2-4).

The time will come when the world will not want to hear the truth of the Bible, but want to hear it according to their own lusts the new age movement.

The New Age Christ will establish peace in the Middle East, and work as a great man of peace, and push the agenda of the new age movement in the world to prepare the world for when he claims to be God by harnessing the power of nature, and evolving, and will share this power with all people who follow him.

Alice Bailey the biggest prophet of the new age movement wrote many books speaking of the coming united religious system, one world government, and New Age Christ, and other occult things, and they set up a web site lucistrust.org promoting her books and writing which she interpreted the Bible according to the occult and evolution.

She was married to a Freemason who agreed with her writing, so he is of the inner circle of Freemason, which there is an inner circle and outer circle of the occult, and Alice Bailey said the inner circle is the true church.

The inner circle is too extreme in the occult for mainstream society so they put out a lighter version an outer circle that is more tolerable to the people to get them interested in a light version of the occult.

When the New Age Christ establishes peace in the Middle East he will push the agenda of the new age movement and the people will lust more for power through nature and when the New Age Christ claims to be God and to set up his kingdom the outer circle became the inner circle and the beast kingdom will be accepted by those who do not keep the commandments of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

The new age movement has an inner circle as well as Freemason, and the Mormon church, and Scientology, and Christian Science, and churches who have great deception such as them as well as many occult groups.

They are trying to get the world to go in the direction of the New Age Christ kingdom so that Lucifer can set up a kingdom which they believe Lucifer will help people to evolve spiritually.

The esoteric meaning of Lucifer, how they interpret the Bible.

There are comments on the World Wide Web claiming that the Lucis Trust was once called the Lucifer Trust. Such was never the case. However, for a brief period of two or three years in the early 1920’s, when Alice and Foster Bailey were beginning to publish the books published under her name, they named their fledgling publishing company “Lucifer Publishing Company”. By 1925 the name was changed to Lucis Publishing Company and has remained so ever since. Both “Lucifer” and “Lucis” come from the same word root, lucis being the Latin generative case meaning of light. The Baileys' reasons for choosing the original name are not known to us, but we can only surmise that they, like the great teacher H.P. Blavatsky, for whom they had enormous respect, sought to elicit a deeper understanding of the sacrifice made by Lucifer. Alice and Foster Bailey were serious students and teachers of Theosophy, a spiritual tradition which views Lucifer as one of the solar Angels, those advanced Beings Who Theosophy says descended (thus “the fall”) from Venus to our planet eons ago to bring the principle of mind to what was then animal-man. In the theosophical perspective, the descent of these solar Angels was not a fall into sin or disgrace but rather an act of great sacrifice, as is suggested in the name “Lucifer” which means light-bearer.

Continued,

It is a whole new ballgame and they are going to establish it in the world.

Ever since evolution came out they started interpreting the Bible, religions, and reality differently and they want to establish that new reality in the world by a slow implementation.

The new age movement interprets the Bible according to the occult and evolution and people are still evolving to be spiritual, and the Christ conscience came upon Jesus and he evolved to be an ascended master, and believe in no personal God but honor the God of forces, or the power of nature, the evolutionary process, and the New Age Christ is the final teacher in the evolutionary process.

That is why they took prayer out of school and started teaching evolution.

This plan has been going on for a while.

They are using the Hegel System to bring all people together which sets up 2 opposing forces with both systems reality to them and it gets everyone involved for they will choose a side and then the 2 forces harmonize together and brings the people together that they believe this system is better than either system alone.

America and Russia has been working together the whole time as the 2 opposing forces in the Hegel System.

It harmonizes the governmental aspect which the one world government will be a balance between democracy and socialism, and the stimulus checks a pattern for basic income which will eventually be a world operation which is also a motivating factor for the people to want to come together for a one world government.

It harmonizes atheism and spirituality the new age movement.

America- religious, spiritual, belief in a higher power.
Russia- atheist.

The new age movement- atheist but spiritual, higher power the God of forces the will of nature.

Republican and Democrat are also working together as the 2 opposing forces in the Hegel System which they will harmonize together in to one system and bring the people together which on the back of the dollar bill, out of many, one.

They want division and the more the better, and fighting, and looting, and chaos, for then they will be justified for going to a new form of government that is neither Republican or Democrat but a harmonization of the 2 that will mimic the operation of the one world government.

They allowed BLM to do what they did because they are pushing socialism, and are anti-capitalist.

Which they say there is no future in Capitalism which it does have a drawback because it brings out the greed in people and they can never have enough money and businesses do not pay good and they charge high prices for things so many people suffer and live below poverty.

In order to have a one world government they need to put all people equal.

They need to knock down the men and boost the women.

They need to knock down the white people even lying about them and boost the black people, minorities.

They need to knock down the heterosexuals and boost the homosexuals.

They need to knock down the parents and boost the children which they loved the counter culture movement.

They need to knock down the religious and boost the atheist.

Which we see this happening in America.

This one world government will be total control of the people which will be accomplished by a microchip under the skin with all information about the person on the microchip which will be linked to satellite like a GPS tracking system for humans.

If a crime happens they will know who was in the area and how close they were to the crime scene and to locate lost people or whoever they want to locate.

But they cannot say to the people they have to have a microchip for there would be too much resistance and their view of the government will not be favorable towards their government or a one world government.

So they are using the coronavirus as an excuse to give people a vaccine which they have to keep updated every so often like the flu shot.

Eventually they will make it mandatory for all people to have the vaccine even babies for they want control of all people.

Eventually they will not allow anybody to enter the store, work, businesses, or be out in public where the vaccinated are at unless they have a vaccination card.

But a vaccination card can be lost and then the vaccinated cannot go out in public to provide for their needs, and it can be falsified which the unvaccinated will be out among the vaccinated.

So they will go to a microchip under the skin to identify who has been vaccinated which when scanned will reveal all information about them that cannot be lost or falsified.

Since only the vaccinated will have the microchip only they can buy and sell for they can go out in public, and the buying and selling power is in the chip.

Which they hope will be a motivating factor for the unvaccinated to get the vaccination and get the chip to be a part of that system to come to be able to buy for their needs.

Those that were vaccinated but refuse the chip will then be among the unvaccinated for they deny their one world government system for the world and they are not keeping up with their vaccinations as required.

The new age movement believes that the universe has a conscience and Alice Bailey the biggest prophet of the new age movement wrote a book called Consciousness of the Atom which they believe they are doing the will of nature by establishing this new reality in the world and going against all people who oppose them to have harmony on earth.

They believe those that oppose them are a disease on earth that they must get rid of like the body fights diseases to get rid of the disease.

When it comes time to implement the microchip on a world wide scale all who oppose them they are going to get rid of them for they feel nature wants them to get rid of them so there is harmony on earth.

Many people are going to die because of what they are trying to establish in the world.

They have a new viewpoint of reality that has never been on earth before and they are going about to establish this new reality in the world so many people will suffer.

They will also not allow a man and a woman to come together for population reduction, and they cannot eat animals anymore for reverence of nature mother earth.

It will be worse than what many people believe right now.

It is simple, their belief of reality has changed from a personal God to the belief there is no God and they are still evolving so because of that the world will change to adapt to this new viewpoint of reality.

A man will establish peace in the Middle East and be considered a great man of peace and the biggest player on the world scene and push the agenda of the new age movement until they take the microchip.

And then they will go against all people who oppose their world system and get rid of them from off the earth and it will not be a pretty sight but they believe they must do that for peace on earth and there is no compassion with them.

The very best, most inspirational pieces of music is NOT about the self, but rather about unity, peace, and understanding between different people. John Lennon is a great example;

I know this is a Christian forum, but many posts in this thread have basically been trying to downplay secular rock as being unfulfilling. John Lennon's "Imagine" is a great example of what I'm talking about in the previous paragraph. It is the opposite of selfish. While that particular song almost sounds like CCM-style: boring, repetive, limited chords, the lyrics are actually inspirational. He's not bragging about how he was "saved" and having a homoerotic narrative with Jesus. Instead, it is very much along the lines of what Jesus was actually trying to say throughout most of the New Testament;

I won't call myself a musician as that conveys the idea that I am a competent performer, which I am not. However, I am musical. Secular music is exactly that. Unfortunately, the secular has infiltrated the Christian realm, and most of what calls itself Christian is banal and repetitive. It is instructive that so many performers go back to the old hymns and add a bit of rock rhythm and modern arrangements.

You would not know this, but music can be spiritual or not. Bach, for example is spiritual. He was born again and that is obvious to me. Even his instrumental stuff is clearly inspired. Some of Handel's work also, especially "Messiah". Mozart is nice to listen to but that's it. Mozart, Beethoven and most other classical composers are not spiritual.

The near worship of people like John Lennon appalls me. He was a total jerk. He treated his first wife and his son like dirt. He was abusive. Utter hypocrisy. Pink Floyd musically lectured people on human rights, love, blah blah, but as a group were barely on speaking terms. Being talented does not make a person decent.
