Manhunt on for gunman who killed 9 at South Carolina church prayer meeting

A frantic manhunt was on in South Carolina, hours after a "horrible scoundrel" opened fire in a historic African-American church in downtown Charleston, killing nine, including the prominent pastor and state senator, during a regular prayer meeting.

Police immediately branded the shooting spree, which began just after 9 p.m. Wednesday, a hate crime, and released surveillance images of a white man fleeing the scene at 180-year-old Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church after the horrific incident, which left six women and three men dead.

A five-year-old girl reportedly survived the attack by following her grandmother's instructions to play dead, and a woman was allowed to leave to tell what had happened. It was not immediately known what message she was supposed to convey.
Oddly enough, if you look at the photo of the suspect ...

... That could be a girl/woman, couldn't it? It's pretty clear that he/she put on extra clothing, a bad wig and a fake nose before entering the church.

Predictably, there is already the noisemaking about "black hate crime" from the civil rights industry. Pastor E.W. Jackson of Exodus Ministries in Chesapeake, Virginia made an excellent point this morning, though, saying the first consideration should be that this is an attack on Christianity, not black Christians.

This is absolutely terrible. Prayers go out to the congregation and the city of Charleston.

Hmmm. Well it does kind of look like a disguise. I haven't seen that haircut since the 1990's.

It'll be interesting to see what motivated the attacker. I actually doubt it was race.

Vw, I live about an hour or so up the coast from there. In this case, I believe it's a hate
case. I'm not saying a black hate case, maybe against Christians. But, it could be both. Our
state has had some bad things happen the past few months, but we have overcame, and
we will overcome this.
A lot of people believe that we have a race problem here, but we don't. If we did, the city
would have been burnt, when that cop shot the black man in the back. We do have some
who hate, but for the most part, we all get along.
Be praying for the city, all of the people, and our state. Thanks

Well, anyway you look at it, he's a dead man walking... just a matter of time inside the prison system.

Yeah. There are guys licking their chops waiting for the day this clown walks into their cell block.

No one offering up prayers for this misguided killer? I pray that he finds the Lord and no harm come to him in prison.

I dunno..... Several posters here, just yesterday, tried to ridicule me into submission when I dared say things like this ARE NOT God's will..... so, I assume (at least for them) all of this was planned by God, and praying would be moot.

(Not my belief, but theirs, as they seemed to express it.)

That's a great post Marcus made, but (yeah, someone out there is saying "There's always a "but," isn't there?") ...

OK, AND ... I love the sentiment. Witnessing can't be done effectively online, though, unless that heart and spirit is "ripe" for Christ, and that can be done through the Holy Spirit, no doubt.

I hope Marcus goes to the jail and visits the young man. Or perhaps E.W. Jackson. Or any pastor with the Gospel message. Heck, I'd go if I had the time. This young man needs Jesus.

Preaching to him on his Facebook page isn't going to get him there. Or if it does, it will be because the Holy Spirit has already primed him to receive Christ's message, forgiveness, mercy, grace, and love.
