interesting, arrogant men are also quite common and agreeably off putting...(Pride and prejudice anyone?)
but then does that make stupid, flaky women more attractive than someone who actually knows what shes doing? hmmm

I prefer to call them confident men. :)

When she feels as if she has to explicitly state that she's "strong" and "independent".

Just be those things. No need to announce them. ;)

One who lacks discretion.

Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman without discretion (Proverbs 11:22).

It's called introversion, or at least certain types / styles of introversion. If small talk isn't working try the most out there philosophical question you can think of and see if she suddenly gets more interested in the conversation.
I agree with this, for people in general. Small talk is often difficult for me with strangers. Standing in line at a store and the person behind me starts chatting to me is a nightmare. Nothing against the person, but the dynamic is stressful for me.

But it seems this notion that quiet people are snobbish or unfriendly is rather dated. It seems more well known than ever that this is simply not true.

No sense of humor. It doesn't often show on here, but I'm often a big goofball that likes to kid around. So someone that can't laugh is a turn off.
And I also like when she can make me laugh as well.

You're talking about "instantly" here so, I'd have to say it's appearance. First impression. I'm not talking about "body looks" appearance, but more about dress. I am instantly put off by women that dress all frumpy and look like they just slept off a hangover or those that just don't look like they care. And it's funny because women can do strenuous type work or work up sweat working out or whatever and still look "kept". They still looked great. They make an effort and I think that's all it takes. And I think women that dress modestly are way more appealing than women with any kind of revealing clothes. They look posh, you know? Stylish or classy.

I mean, I make an effort and even tho I can look pretty disheveled at the end of a work day, it probably looks temporary and not a way of life. Same with women.

This is not a set up for us ladies to get offended and fuss at y'all, I know everyone has things that are just automatic NOPES in their mind and I want to know yours.

Personally, I don't think woman should worry, what boys/men find attractive or unattractive, now if you are married, or going to get married, that's a different story. Outside of that though, why does it matter?

People do judge a book by its cover as much as we profess that we shouldn’t and a person looking “well kept” effects other areas of life (finances, encounters, expertise, position etc). This may sound like I am speaking only of appearance but character too effects these things.

A lot of book covers these days are just flimsy cardboard

I think the better books are cloth bound, but thats just me.
I always cover the flimsy books with clear plastic, cos they need protection. Once they are covered they are good to go, but the clothed ones dont need extra covering, also, they are much nicer to touch.
The plastic covered ones are shiny sure, but they do become dull over time.

Instant turn-offs?

Entitlement, feminist inclinations, obvious lack of self-care, careless use of vulgar language, drunkenness, drug use …

And lying.

Someone who has obviously spent way too much time and money on their appearance is unattractive. It looks too fake. I would be more attracted to a “7” with good hygiene compared to a “9” who looks like she spends two hours getting ready before she leaves the house.

It’s a human need to feel accepted. Considering approximately half the adults you meet will be the opposite sex, their acceptance of you will be at least mildly important. She isn’t asking how to be most attractive. She’s merely curious about what is most repellent.
