Interesting how far twisting the words and thoughts of others and running with it can take us from the OP, isn't it....*smh*
Who twisted...?
Who ran with it?

Is '*smh*' supposed to be representative of a sound, or does 'smh' stand for something? (please forgive my ignorance  )

I am baffled as to how you could possibly have assumed that I don't believe marriage to absolutely be a God thing or that I was in some way questioning God's recognition of their vows. That's quite a stretch.
Please do not be baffled -- I did not assume any such thing. :)

The poster appears to have worded her post as she did for specific reasons and her words may not actually conflict when considered more carefully. Sole point. Period.
"My [initial post in this thread] was worded [the way it was] for specific reasons - and the words may not actually conflict when considered more carefully..."

Please read my new thread 'A quote is a quote is a quote...' in the 'Miscellaneous' forum. ;)

Apologies to the OP and Dianna and Katie -- "just because"... :)

I tried online dating last year... but its so awkward. Feels like I'm at the grocery store... picking out the best deal. :\

I think online/long distance relationships work- but they aren't- as many people believe- a shortcut into a steady relationship. They work very similarly to real relationships in the fact that it has to grow with time.

LOL Great analogy :) There have been times when I've felt like a watermelon or cantaloupe that someone has picked up and examined out of a bin. :)

Contrary to popular belief, long distance and online relationships can work if you are actually willing to pull through with it and put effort into it. You need to be a strong-willed person in order to go through something like this. Are they easy? No...but who is to say any relationship is easy. Mercyswolf and I were dating online before we actually met and it worked out for the better...Not only did I meet him online but he is long distance so that makes in an extra challenge. So, yes, I believe these relationships are worth it.

I have got to learn keep some of my thoughts to myself in this forum. I made an observation and come back the next day to realize that it was the cause of mass derailment.

One of the toughest things about long distance relationships is how to convey your honest feelings for someone and open up to them as easily as you can in person. It's more difficult to read people online.
I will agree that online has complexities that don't exist in real life. Likewise the dynamic in a chat room can suppress some qualities or exaggerate others in some people.

I'll use myself as an example. In chat I'm somewhat more reserved than in real life, partially because I'm expected to set the example, partially because the missing body language on mic and missing vocal inflection in PM can leave a lot out of what is being said so I tend to be cautious in how I express myself. Likewise although in real life I can carry a conversation extremely well, for some reason I don't do so well carrying a convo in PM here. As a result I rarely PM people because I hate feeling like an idiot with nothing to say. I think having to type short circuits my brain.

It is definitely more difficult to read people online, and as a result I think most people are considerably more cautious about opening up about more personal things.

Honestly taking with me,its hard to have long distance relatio ship if you cant be faithful or your partner because its really hard that you need to hold on to God,theres alot of hardship but if you cant give a true love dont, really hard and you both need trust and alot of prayers.

yes,I would say that it can work out for some people, but it's a lot of hardwork, and you have to be able to communicate every day, just like in any relationship.
