Scripture Based Flat Earth Proposition (Introduction)

I would like to begin by saying that I am not the most humble man alive, but I am certainly not arrogant. I’m not trying to represent myself as humble, but to express my sincerity. There’s no place for arrogance in knowing the Truth. Coming to the realization of the Truth is a very humbling experience. If one is not humbled by the Truth, then what he knows is probably not the Truth. With knowing the truth comes a responsibility to share it, because so many do not know it. And if one cannot share it with love and humility (like Jesus did), then one probably doesn’t need to be sharing it until becoming more compassionate and humble. Jesus not only knew the truth, He IS Truth, and He was compassionate and meek and gentle. Although we struggle with this as long as we are in the flesh, if we know Him, we must try to be like Him and to please Him, and not ourselves.

Proverbs 18:13 states “He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.”

In light of this, I would like to encourage the reader to be patient, read, and reason with the proposition in its entirety before responding. This might save one from embarrassment and humiliation later on. However, if one must be impatient and exhibit any height of hubris, please be warned that some questions will be asked that will not be answerable, further exasperating the situation.

This presentation is based on Scripture. If you do not believe that the Bible is the unadulterated inerrant Word of God, then you will probably be wasting your time. On the other hand, read on anyway, and you may change your mind. But if you DO believe – if you really, really, really DO BELIEVE that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God …” (2 Timothy 3:16a), then please consider the following proposition.

[Also, I am no artist, but the illustrations should suffice.]

There are four more posts to this presentation BEYOND this Introduction.

Please be respectful and wait until all four are posted (five posts total) before posting yourself. Thank You.

Scripture Based Flat Earth Proposition (Part One : Heaven)

Genesis 1:6-8

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Genesis 1:9-10

And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

Illustrated below is the firmament (which God called ‘Heaven’), with water ‘above’ and ‘under’.

Scripture Based Flat Earth Proposition (Part Two : The Windows of Heaven)

Genesis 7:11

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

Genesis 8:2

The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;

Illustrated below is the flood waters. While no doubt most of the water came from the deep (waters ‘under’ the firmament of heaven), much water also fell from the windows of heaven (waters ‘above’ the firmament of heaven). God broke up the fountains of the deep and opened the windows of heaven. Later He stopped both the fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven. In other words, He closed up the cracks in what is now the ocean floor and closed the windows of heaven.

Scripture Based Flat Earth Proposition (Part Three : The Lights of Heaven)

Genesis 1:14-18

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

Illustrated below are the lights in the firmament, or heaven. Holy Scripture states that God set the sun, moon, and stars “in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth”.

Scripture Based Flat Earth Proposition (Part Four : The Question)

Since God placed the luminaries withIN the firmament . . .

In the days of Noah when He opened the windows of heaven,
how far did the water fall to the earth?

A hundred miles? A thousand miles? Or was it 25 trillion miles???

Proxima Centauri is said to be the closest star at 4.2465 light years away. That’s 24.93 trillion miles.

So how far did the water fall to the earth?

**Note also that about 1000 years before the coming of Christ (over 1300 years after the flood)
king David declared that the waters were still there when he wrote,
Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens”.

That concludes the initial part of the proposition. I trust that more shall be presented in the not so distant future.

I only have one question. From your title it sounds like you're proposing the earth is flat. Is that correct?

Rain falls from the heaven known as our atmosphere. There are three heavens in Scripture.
The second heaven is outer space beyond our atmosphere. The third heaven is where God lives.

Recent (good) science with reference to the origin of the elements and the “dividing of the waters from the waters”….

P.s. not flat earth

:) "(Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.) "

Now there are some great scientist in this world that believe the world is flat and wow I can listen to them and .. yeah.. it is flat! haha

Its just I've been looking at to the stars all my life and .. odd no other planet is flat and then to think anyone that has been is space lie by saying its round. Amazing how they get them all on one page.

Yes. At a minimum, if what I have shown doesn't prove the earth is flat, it certainly reveals how near sun, moon, and stars are, and that there is no such thing as "outer space", unless that's what you want to call the third heaven (above the waters) where God sits on His throne.

Yes. The first heaven we know as the atmosphere. The second is where the heavenly bodies (luminaries) are. The third is where God reigns (Deut. 10:14; 1 Kings 8:27; 2 Chron. 2:6; 6:18; Psalm 68:33; 148:4).

Proxima Centauri is said to be the closest star at 4.2465 light years away. That’s 24.93 trillion miles.
Consider this illustration to put things into perspective. Based upon what we were taught, the sun and earth are 93,000,000 miles apart and Proxima Centauri is 24.93 trillion miles away. While there's not enough room to put a scale model on screen, this not-to-scale model (but with to-scale figures) will illustrate how inconsistant what we were all taught is with what the Word of God teaches (the reality).

Sun <----- 93,000,000 -----> Earth <-------------------------------- 24,930,000,000,000---------------------------------- Proxima Centauri
6" ball <------- 53'9" -------> .88" <--------------------------------- 2729 miles to the nearest star.

If you use a 6" ball (that's six inches in diameter) to represent the sun and a pinhead (just under 1/16 of an inch) to represent the earth, placing them 53'9" (that's 53 feet 9 inches) apart, then you will have a extremely accurate scale model of the size and distance of the sun and earth. Now if you take a nickel and place it 2729 miles away, you'll have a fairly accurate scale model of the nearest star (Proxima Centauri).

Matthew 24:29 states, "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:"
Revelation 6:13 reads, "And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth . . ."

If you REALLY believe the Word of God, you'll have a problem believing that stars (many of them) the size of peas, marbles, nickels, and larger will travel greater distances than 2700 miles and fall to the earth one sixteenth of an inch in diameter. And the earth will maintain in orbit?

I'll ask once again, how far did the flood waters fall to the earth?

Since 1/16" = 0.0625", where did .88" come from?

Flat Earth theory is built on idiography.
I think you may have that backwards. It was the Ball Earth Theory that was built on mathematics and supported with CGI. Copernicus was a mathematician that built his theory on mathematical calculations. You can prove anything with math, even if it's not true. That's the whole purpose for the illustration, is to show how idiotic the BE theory is. I'd rather stick with the one that's supported by the Word of God (reality). In other words, we ought to ". . . let God be true, but every man a liar . . ." (Romans 3:4).

Everything you've proposed here can be explained by a spherical earth. You started with a conclusion and attempted to use Scripture to prove it. You failed, miserably.

The only failure here is BE theory answering the question how far did the water fall to the earth? Don't you think it is rather obserd to believe that the flood waters in Noah's day fell over 25 trillion miles to the earth? Those who call themselves "Christian" ought to believe the Word of God, don't you think?
