Why is it that in these forums (and ONLY in these forums) I cannot hit 'enter' to start a new line. If I want to write a post, with paragraphs, I have to type it in a word document first, then paste it in here. Which, quite honestly, is altogether too much bother for me. I can't work it out, is it a windows 8 thing? A browser thing? What is it? Why can't I just hit 'enter' to start a new line? Is it too much to ask?? Can anyone help?

It must be a windows 8 thing. I'm still using windows vista here. My computer is old.

It is not windows 8... I use windows 8....

I can hit enter and it will shift to the next line... I use Google Chrome too.... It might be your browser idk... Not that tech suave ... mainly just bumping the thread...
 
Maybe she is on to something tho, because I see plenty of users that have perfect grammar not use paragraphs... This would explain a lot....

if you use windows 8 ..... with IE10
then you might find that in some sites the "enter key" not want to work ...

I traced the cause , it lies at the document mode setting ...
this does not meet the compabiliteitsmodus of IE10 and should be adjusted ....

if you click on "extra" in your IE10
and select the F12 development programs
you can modify the document mode to IE 9
and the enter key will also work

****however iff you close your the browser, and you open a new one this settings you just makted
are gone away ...en the enter button has the same problem again as beforre ...

this is just a work around , the best way to fix this is to upgrade a working patch for v-bulletin

Long dense paragraphs, without proper spacing are the bane of my existence. So, it is incredibly painful for me that I cannot structure my forum posts correctly. Enter, shift+enter, tab, nothing works.. I've tried them all. It really is a mystery to me. This is a brand new computer, so maybe there's something I need to do that I haven't quite figured out yet, but cc forums worked fine on my old pc! Grrrr!
 
If you are having trouble with spacing, click the first "A" (switch editor to source mode) icon above the text input box. While the "A" icon is blue, this will not be a problem for you. I have a new laptop and had to figure it out. :)

Zero, how do you seemingly know EVERYONE's given name, even when it's not posted on their profile? I mean, Ira's been here all of two weeks, and I had no clue her name was Katie.

Actually I've been a member here for years. I used to be a moderator, but I took a CC sebatical for the best part of a year, and just re-joined a few weeks ago. Zero and I go way back :)
