To whom did Jesus give commandments and instructions concerning the continuation of His ministry after His resurrection and ascension?

thanks!
now how is baptism SYMBOLIC or an outward sign of something?
that specifically says the outward body being cleaned means ZIPPOLLA! it's something INWARD that happens.
and it involves GOD.

it's DIRECTLY involving the Lord, and He is connecting baptism to a good conscience toward God!

does it say if we sin after we are saved to be re-baptized to clear the conscience?
or does it say confess our sins and be cleansed from all unrighteosuness?

so what is the baptism directly embedded in the Gospel command we are to believe and obey about?

we were BURIED WITH HIM in baptism, and raised in His resurrection! it doesn't say we symbolically were. it says we were!

is it symbolic? is faith or repentance symbolic?
is the new birth symbolic?
prayer? The Lord's Supper?
water Babtism is as we seem to agree on a good conscious towards God, but is does not wash away the filth as is what is also in that scripture, only Christ can do this and has by the cross where one recieves the Holy Ghost by the resurrectionof Christ a new life in Christ
Babtism in romans 6:4 is nit water it is the Holy Ghost babtism, Christ never promoted John's babtism never did he Babtize anyone either in water, and the Holy Ghost Babtism came on the day od Pentecost with out any water HMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although it is good to be water Babtized it is not for salvation
Galatians 3:2This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith
When the Galatians recived the word from PAUL, did Paul babtize anyof them in water?
[h=3]Galatians 3:1-3[/h]King James Version (KJV)

3 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
[SUP]2 [/SUP]This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

because some don't believe that Christ commanded it.
by Christ the death, burial and resurrection we are under law? How does sin take place?
Romans 7:8But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Romans 7:11For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
Romans 7:13Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
Hebrews 11:23By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.

We are not under commandment Christ did not command it, we are to have willing hearts and when and others make this to be a commandment you make a law that creates and brings sin forth because the flesh is weak.
Romans 6:14For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:15What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
1 Corinthians 6:12All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
Galatians 3:10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
Galatians 4:21Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
Galatians 5:18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Hebrews 7:11If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Water Baptism was a law under the Old Covenant but not the public it was for the Levitical Priesthood, and Christ fulfiled all Law that his Father sent him forth to do starting at the water Baptism of John.
John's Babtism was and is tohave vanished by now, for he said he must decrease and Chrisat must increase that John only Babtized with water and Christ much more than him Babtizes wuith the Holy Ghost with fire. Pretty clear to me, and do whatever you wish, you as I have free choice and we are bottom line called to LOVE one another as Christ loves us better yet as he has past tense loved us via the cross.
So I love you unconditionally, hope you see the same and thank you for yuor thoughts on the subject forI know Godis still in charge no matter what and is able to get all his flock to stand

only one thing christ never died for and that is UnBelief in Christ period
John 16:7-15

King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]7 [/SUP]Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Of sin, because they believe not on me;
[SUP]10 [/SUP]Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Only Christ mentioned either to beleive or not to believe in Christ, no mention of having to be water Babtized. Just like Paul got irritated at the Galatians over the Judaisers that brought in circumsccion and Paul admonished them
Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

And here are today many Judaisers saying yes I see oyu beleive but you must do this or that, I think it a good idea to read Galatians about works and Faith, and what produces works. Is it works that produces Faith, having to be water Babtized, this when it was a law to me did not produce any Faith in me. Now when I decided to have Faith oin god and God alone through Christ, that is when I understood water Babtism to be none other than a good conscious towards God, forgetting waht others might or might not think about me, getting that out of the way freed unto God's amazing salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord, Christ being the only way, the only truth and the only life.
Matthew 28
The Resurrection

1Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where hea lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” 8So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

The Report of the Guard
11While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place. 12And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers 13and said, “Tell people, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ 14And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” 15So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.

The Great Commission
16Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

i can agree with this.

there are clearly things in this world which will hinder, or prevent us from obeying the command to be baptised (being nailed to a cross comes to mind...being in a little prison cell or some other thing comes to mind - dying before the opportunity comes to mind).

but - if we have a functioning adult who has heard the Gospel and believed it, and spent anytime at all reading the Lord's words, will they believe that He said BE BAPTIZED?

what if they don't believe He said that? or they twist what He said?

isn't that dangerously close to this "It is what you believe that will either save or condemn you. "?
Zone I wish to say this I have been water Baptized it was not by being obedient of a commandment it was by a willing heart of me in havoing a good conscious towards God and later on Inderstood the differance in Water and Holy Ghost baptism, which is all what I have only pointed out.

Sorry Homeward,

Acts 2

[SUP]37 [/SUP]When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
[SUP]38[/SUP]Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. [SUP]39 [/SUP]The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
[SUP]40 [/SUP]With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” [SUP]41 [/SUP]Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Peter plainly told them to be baptized and they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus commanded it, but you didn't do it to obey Him, you did it out of a willing heart.
i wonder if that's why every Christian gets baptised?

if we love Him, we will obey and keep His commandments - out of a heart made willing...right?

but, you found out later being baptized in water wasn't the one baptism?

so did Jesus make a mistake?
did you make a mistake?

how many baptisms are there in our Gospel Commission as commanded by Jesus?
one? or two?

if you went out to fulfill the Great Commission, now that you found out water baptism is not the right baptism - what would you teach the penitent sinner?

what if they asked about being baptised in water? would you turn them away from that and tell them to seek a Holy Ghost baptism?

thanks home:)

Homeward,

Why is that after the Gospel was sent out to the Gentiles that they received the Holy Spirit first, then were water baptized?
They were by Faith willing to be not under commandment, there is a big differance between the two and is why Peter wrote that water babtism is not for washing away te filth rather a good conscious towrds God or better put a thank you God forthis wonderful salvation where we are freed from Law that take occasion by the commandment
Can you or anyone be forced to believe I mean and really believe? Is God looking for a willing Heart, and be with him? Or a fearful one that really can or ever will know him? It is wise to fear God to desire to know God and is the begining of all wisdom, but not te reality itself just as water Babtism is not the reality or the Law was not either the reality of itself
Today by and through the cross this perfect love

  1. John 17:23
I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
John 17:22-24 (in Context) John 17 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations
  2. 2 Corinthians 13:11Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
2 Corinthians 13:10-12 (in Context) 2 Corinthians 13 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations
  3. 1 John 2:5But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1 John 2:4-6 (in Context) 1 John 2 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations
  4. 1 John 4:12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
1 John 4:11-13 (in Context) 1 John 4 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations
  5. 1 John 4:17Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
1 John 4:16-18 (in Context) 1 John 4 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations
  6. 1 John 4:18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:17-19 (in Context) 1 John 4 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations

Hello,

If I talked to some Christians about baptism, I could only waste my time. Here is a criterion:

Rom 8:9
And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
That is the main thing. I will cling to that even if you think different. It is the same when I deal the question:
Should a couple have love feelings towards each other if they want to marry?

with people from the Middle East or from India. In their culture, the answer would be no, as marriages are arranged there. But convincing them the opposite is just a waste of time.

I quote this is red lettering because it was from the mouth of JESUS....

Mat_28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

pretty sure HE said baptizing them. pretty sure that when HE says do something we need to do it, that it isn't optional.
You know this verse is not specific to whether he is or ahd spoken this as water babtism, nor does it say Holy Ghost, but John said he must decrease and Christ must increase. That John only babtized with water but Christ with the Holy Ghost HMMM!!!!!!!!!! So I venture to say what was meant here is the Holy Ghost Baptism no ands if or but to me Sister. It is clear to me What Christ Babtizes with and what John babtized with, your choice to what is true or not

it's "out of step" because people only see it as an "outward sign" or as a symbolic gesture. IF they was doing it right, they would only need to do it once.
like I said before, I grew up baptist and they would baptize people so they would join that congregation. They totally stripped the true meaning of baptism into a tradition.
I know you know truth in this matter and you see what I say, I am not putting down water Babtism and I see it as one dies to self at the cross of christ with Christ and are raised back in the newness of life by the resurrection of christ via the cross as Romans 6:1-11 so well point out being born again as I posted about in John 3

Why did Peter tell them to be baptized? And why did Paul write this about Baptism?

Romans 6

6 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? [SUP]2 [/SUP]By no means! We are those who have died to sin;how can we live in it any longer? [SUP]3 [/SUP]Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?[SUP]4 [/SUP]We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Colossians 2

[SUP]9 [/SUP]For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,[SUP]10 [/SUP]and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the headover every power and authority.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh[SUP][b][/SUP] was put off when you were circumcised by[SUP][c][/SUP] Christ, [SUP]12 [/SUP]having been buried with him in baptism,in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

Don't you see that baptism is also a burial of our ourselves in Christ. That is why we are commanded to do so.

I can't believe that even after scriptures and more scriptures how people still say water baptism is not needed. I guess I should just throw out the bible and make my own rules and get to heaven!!!!!

maybe.

chances are i'd end up in hell cause narrow is the gate and few there is that find it.
Sotellme why Jinx John theBabtist said he must decrease and Christ must increase? And why he made a distinct differance between water Babtism and Holy Ghost? There is a differance right?
