I wonder if people find it a sin to dye your hair.

I myself, believe that hair dye is the same as make up, that it shouldn't be done. now I do believe that some pentecostal women use a foundation to cover up blemishes and stuff, and to me that would be a dangerous line because what's going to stop them from going a little more into the make and start using mascara and colored lip gloss and such. it is such a personal conviction matter that a lady has to know why they do and don't do the things they do when it comes to makeup and hair dye and even fingernail polish.
sounds petty to some people, but we are out there...LOL we try and pay attention to these things believing it is pleasing to GOD.
Even wearing skirts. I wear skirts. well right now I'm in P'J's....LOL

That's why I am so against pentecostal women who when they see a new convert, trying to push all of their own convictions onto these young believers and expect them to be totally made over overnight. It never ends well, and always disgust me to no end.

I just colored mine three days ago. Dark brown to be exact. Looks almost black. Covers grey hair well. ;)

please tell me you put some sort of highlights in there....LOL. my mother in law dyes her hair pitch black. I mean solid black. makes me want to slap her when she does this. LOL

I wear makeup too, lol. But I do see what you are saying. If someone does feel convicted then they should refrain. If I felt my salvation was in danger or that it was making me conceited then you better believe I would stop using it. I will say that now I am in a relationship I wear makeup less. Now days I rarely find the time to put on chap stick.

i have to wear chapstick or something of the sort cause my lips are so dry. They can peel and crack. very sexy.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. Truths like there being one True God revealed in three persons - Father, Son and Spirit isn't up for debate, nor is the fact that all sins are equal in God's eyes and are open rebellion against him. By context, I mean, that you need to read the Bible properly, in the context of the times, the audience to which it was written, the genre to which it belongs etc. That's not trying to circumnavigate God's Word to avoid doing his Will, that's called using your brain to understand his Will better from a collection of books that's a couple thousand years old and still remains relevant to this day (and always). It's a matter of putting yourself in the shoes of the author and the world and times in which they lived because I sure don't understand the Jewish and early Christian world, as a modern day Aussie, without reading the Bible in context. Finally, the passages about head coverings etc. refer to specific churches etc. at the time, not the Church as a whole. You were using verses out of context (using unrelated verses to reference the subject in question). That's it.

I understand what you mean by " Read these verses context please " !
You implicitly tell me " Censure the true meaning of these verses please ! " for the sake of your own contention with the Lord's Word !
As Ponce Pilate answered to the contentious pharisees who wanted to change and censure the Lord's Word :
" Quod scripsi, scripsi ! " " What I have written, I have written ! "
That means what the Lord has written, He has written ! And you, simple human, cannot change and censure one jot or one tittle of It no matter how contentious you are with It !

well I don't agree with that at all LOL :)

Okay, you don't believe in the Triune God bit, I know that much but surely you understand the importance of reading the Bible in context?

I believe that if they told the church long ago how to live then it should be good enough for us today or we start looking like the rest of the world.

it is clearly stated here that he is passing on tradition

1Co 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

OK, how does he follow Christ, read on...

1Co 11:2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
1Co 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
1Co 11:4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
1Co 11:5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
1Co 11:6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
1Co 11:7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
1Co 11:8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
1Co 11:9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
1Co 11:10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
1Co 11:11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
1Co 11:12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
1Co 11:13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
1Co 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
1Co 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
1Co 11:16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

Seems to be a little stronger than a tradition.

I haven't cut my hair since 1997. my hair isn't very long, it breaks a lot. and my daughter is 11 and has never had her hair cut either. This very passage is why, it says that the hair was given to a woman as a covering. This very covering is a sign of submissiveness to man, who is submissive to GOD as well. It is giving to the authority that GOD placed over us women. We are not to be in authority over a man, as it is stated in other scriptures.

it isn't about how long your hair is, it is about not cutting it. some women can't grow long hair (me).

amish women cover it up with a wrap of some sort, mennonite women as well. but when you read the whole passage it says the covering is the hair, and it is a shame for man to have long hair and for women to shave their head (cut).

this is me, take it or leave it, hope it helps.

Well, you didn't read the whole passage sister ! You just picked one part and considered it as a whole. For it's also written : " For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head."

That means the covering is not the hair, it's a veil ! Otherwise Paul wouldn't rebuke women who pray or prophesy without a veil ! What Paul said about the long hair being a covering for the woman is a universal example Paul took from nature to better explain why women should cover their head with a veil !

please tell me you put some sort of highlights in there....LOL. my mother in law dyes her hair pitch black. I mean solid black. makes me want to slap her when she does this. LOL

There's some highlights. It looks natural just darker. I don't do the pitch black thing. I'm too fair skinned. id look gothic.

Yes brother ! That's exactly what you were saying ! And thanks to the Lord you even indirectly confessed from your own mouth you're trying to circumnavigate God's Word to avoid doing his Will !
And directly after that you indirectly said I'm not using my brain ? How dare you ?:)
You wouldn't write that if you weren't upset. That means...you're upset ! But knows that a sincere rebuke is infinitely preferable to a hypocrite Judas Iscariot's kiss ! Don't you think ?

Now brother, Jesus told there's no need to be a pharisee scholar to perfectly understand His Word ! Remember most of His disciples never went to, say, pharisee's higher education !
They were more like the " average Joe " of this ancient Israelite time !
Many of them were fishers ! Yeah, fishers ! They didn't have a lot of knowledge like the pharisees, but the Lord knew their exceptional purity and simplicity of heart and He chose them as His first disciples !
So if " the average Joe" of this ancient Israelite time didn't need to live in the time of Moses or in the time of Noah and Adam to understand those very ancient Scriptures, why would it suddenly change today ?
Besides, the Lord's teachings are not like complex human teachings ! The Lord's teachings are simple and universal and belong to any part of human history ! For the Lord is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow ! Even a little child could perfectly understand the teachings of the Lord ! Indeed, Jesus said : " At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. " Matthew 11:25 ( KJV )

And it's also written :

" Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus."
Acts 4:13 ( KJV )

And no, head coverings doesn't refer to " specific churches " as Paul wrote to the Church as a whole :
1Co 11:13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
1Co 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
1Co 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
1Co 11:16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

And also no ! All sins are not equal before the Lord's eyes ! Otherwise there would be no need of judgement and no need of justice ! You cannot equal Peter's sins to Judas's Iscariot sins for instance ! That would be a total denial of justice ! This demonic doctrine " all sins are equal before God " does not come from God, but it comes from Satan ! Because the evil one doesn't want justice to be served ! he wants all people on earth to think demons and humans are alike by making them believe " all sins are equal before God " so that people would be afraid to make and proclaim the difference between demons and humans for fear of men !

You know Tintin, whenever I learn about new demonic lies and doctrines, how twisted and disturbing they are, I realize more and more the innocence of little children and simple minds protect them from all this very sophisticated demonic lies and doctrines stuff ! Let's be innocent like a little child and prudent like an old man ! By the Lord's Grace ! :)

your wrong "brother", I did read the rest of that passage,

1 Corinthians 11:2-16
[SUP]2 [/SUP]I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you. [SUP]3 [/SUP]But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man,[SUP][a][/SUP] and the head of Christ is God. [SUP]4 [/SUP]Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. [SUP]5 [/SUP]But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved. [SUP]6 [/SUP]For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.

[SUP]7 [/SUP]A man ought not to cover his head,[SUP][b][/SUP] since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. [SUP]8 [/SUP]For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; [SUP]9 [/SUP]neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. [SUP]10 [/SUP]It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own[SUP][c][/SUP]head, because of the angels. [SUP]11 [/SUP]Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. [SUP]12 [/SUP]For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.

[SUP]13 [/SUP]Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? [SUP]14 [/SUP]Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, [SUP]15 [/SUP]but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. [SUP]16 [/SUP]If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.

it says it in black and white, her hair is given for a covering, your TWISTING the word to fit your own means... shame shame double shame. Don't forget verse 16 :)

The covering is hair, the subject is hair.

You have issues. I'm done here. Think I'm the devil's spawn, whatever, dude. I'm a child of God and I stand in the confidence of Christ's righteous sacrifice.

I'd just like to add, I wasn't calling you stupid, that comment was a generalisation about non-thinking Christians (and there are plenty of them).

Peace be with you, Christians, GOD made a Covenant with you by the shed blood of HIS SON. You chose HIM in time of hopelessness and helplessness, as same as the Israelites chose HIM in order to come out of the bondage of Pharoh in Egypt.
A 'Covenant' is like a 'Contract' and when one agrees and accept and acknowledge, then it will come into effect from that day forward between two parties.
Every contract will consist of 'Terms' and 'Conditions' / 'Rules' and 'Regulations' that are set for the one who seeks the favor of the other successful dominating party. They must now abide in them for a long term sustaining relationship. When one ignores these and continue only in their skills to serve, will they stand a chance to enter to the next level, upon their evaluation? When the given law of an agreement is broken it is considered as a 'lawlessness' practice.
A Good Employer always remember HIS lawful and lawless employees but when come to one day of decision making, HE would favor the lawful, because HIS success is based on HIS Word (terms and conditions / rules and regulations) and those who abide in them, to as it is written, will be successful together with HIM. This also encourages others to also abide.
Ignore, doubt and compromise against HIS Word, to as it is written will only cause devisions rather than oneness, failure rather than success, destroy rather than build.
JESUS did mention in the Gospel about rejecting the very elect who claimed to serve HIM but counted them as 'lawlessness' because they fail to come into obedience to GOD's Word while practicing in their given gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT.
Those who oppose these teachings of 'order in the churches' so that the spirit and the flesh of every believer will come into one obedience to GOD the FATHER's Word first, are anti-christ themselves unknowingly. They fail to receive and comply with the sound doctrine of the Holy Bible. They remain short sighted people who speak against the HOLY SPIRIT of the Holy Scriptures and furthermore may deceive many who are weak.
Judge for yourself a country without law and order, how it would turn out to be? Will this not inspire one to do whatever he or she pleases? (which one day the true anti-christ will permit to all, which will more benefit the lost youths to rebel).
And also again judge a country with law and order? Will there not be obedience, fear and submission to one MASTER? And will there not be oneness and peace among the community? Will not the true and correct law show no favorites, nor respect, nor favor to any man.
JESUS's New Covenant teachings are not about traditions anymore but about an spiritual order of love towards GOD's Word and also the spiritual order of love towards GOD's Love for one another. The New Covenant Scriptures reflects light in the midst of the darkness of this world, the darkness of sin in the body. And are also spirit and life to live and grow as the spirit man and women in the Kingdom of GOD and for the Kingdom of GOD until CHRIST returns.
! Corinthians 11, clearly speaks about coverings for man and women when they prophesies or pray. Apostle Paul ended by saying; 'No one must be contentious ........................'
Apostle Paul gave this as how CHRIST wanted it to be for the churches as HIS own body. Servant Paul also went on to say; 'Because of angels who are witnesses to this matter, one must abide.....'.
Brethren stick to the Holy Bible, especially the New Covenant which consist of Words of spirit and life from the inspirer the HOLY SPIRIT.
JESUS did not allow such contentious men or women to get the best of HIM for HE only obeys and pleases the FATHER when HE speaks for the Kingdom.
Remember and read again, Apostle Paul's instructions to Timothy to carry on with the churches but do not bend towards them, who have the tendency of compromising from all that have been given to build and edify from the beginning. This is due to Paul's own experience working and carrying on with the churches as he build and edified them.
i am only an unworthy servant merely doing my duty to remind and stir up one's memory regarding the life giving truth. All Glory be only to our GOD the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST forever and ever, Amen.
