Please be the Lord of my life
Without You I cause my strife
I don't like the world we live in
It is full of evil, lust ,and sin
I didn't always follow Your ways
Lost in the world, locked in the maze
I had the key, but I did not see
I wasn't the man, You wanted me to be
You set out signs all around
I was lost , and needed to be found
As I started to seek, You revealed unto me
beating myself up, feeling unworthy
On the remote, I pushed the select
You are worthy , one of the elect
The Pastor said, with a smile on his face
At that moment , I felt Gods Grace
Like nothing , I've ever felt before
You cant buy it, at the store
As I read , I'm starting to see
Unlocking the maze, His plan for me
God I love You, with all my heart
Please don't let the world, tear us apart
I'm not perfect, and will continue to pray
Give me strength ,and wisdom each day
Please God be the lord , of my life
I don't want , my old strife

The concept of the elect comes from St. Augustine and, later, the 16th century theologian John Calvin, thank. According to Calvinism, humanity is divided into the elect, whom God has chosen to be saved, and the reprobate, who are predestined to spend eternity in hell. It is based on various passages of the bible, amongst them Romans 8:29: "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many brothers and sisters." I hope this helps. Thanks for your poem; it said a lot about how I feel at the moment.
