"But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter (The Laws of Moses, the 10 commandments)." Romans 7:6 :)

But, what about The Law then, is it dead?

Paul answers that much better than I . :)

"What shall we say then? Is The Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary. I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, "You shall not cover." But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead. And I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin became alive , and I died; and this commandment which was to result in life, proved to result in death for me; for sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and, through it killed me. So then, the Law is holy and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.
Therefore did that which is good become a cause of death for me? May it never be ! Rather it was sin, in order that it might be shown to be sin by effecting my death through that which is good, that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful."

SIN is at FAULT, not the Law; the Law is holy :)

Yes, the Law helps us to recognise our sinfulness and understand that we can't match up to God's righteousness.

''the commandment, deceived me, and, through it killed me.''

That's the part that should have been underlined. i.e. the law did not die...our relation to it did.

Romans 8
1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

John 3

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Indeed it is we that must be "born again"

Luke 11

9And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Acts 19

1And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. 4Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 7And all the men were about twelve.

The wages of sin be death.

Romans 6

What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.18Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. 19I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.20For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. 21What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. 22But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

obedience unto righteousness?

Have you obeyed from the heart the doctrine delivered to you?

The law was only meant to reveal man's sinfulness, and the futility of trying to be righteous. Unfortunately, some view the law as righteousness itself. When they break the law they turn to Jesus for forgiveness, but turn back to the law for righteousness.

And here we disagree, my friend...

Deu 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

And this was the One who became Jesus Christ saying this.

The Law of God is as sacred as Himself! It is a revelation of His will. A transcript of His character. The expression of Divine love and wisdom. The harmony of creation depends on the perfect conformity of all beings, of everything animate and inanimate, to the law of the Creator. God has ordained laws for the government, not only for living beings, but of all the operations of nature. Everything is under fixed laws, which cannot be disreguarded. But while everything in nature is governed by natural laws,,, man alone, of all the inhabitants of the earth, is amenable to moral law. To man, the crowning work of creation, God has given power to understand His requirements, to comprehend the justice and benificence of the law, and it's sacred claims upon him; and of man, unswerving obedeience is required.

How is the law done away with when Christ says "I have not come to destroy the law or the prophets? and why does Christ keep saying keep the law over and over again?

how can you have any type of order without laws?

Romans 7:4, 6 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Again and again, yes the law is not done away with but we as believers have been in that we have died died died to the law.
Of course societal laws still stand as we are still in these bodies.

I was just making emphasis of 'sin,' crossnoted :)

But, that's correct, the commandments deceive us all into thinking they are good, what else would The Devil have to do if he couldn't be letting us know it's OK not to obey your mom and dad, it's OK to covet your neighbor's wife, it's OK to worship other gods.....

My sister-in-law laughed at me because I tried to obey the law best I could, she said she didn't go by any written law, she just knew what was right. What she thought was right would curl your hair.

We are dead to the Law as a means of our righteousness. Yet, we, who are in Christ, do show that the Law is good by acts of love.

We are dead to the Law as a means of appeasement. Yet, Christ, who is in us, has appeased God by fulfilling the laws of sacrifice.

We are dead to the Law as our guide to the Father. Yet, the Holy Spirit, who in us, guides us by the Law.

Acts of love is the fulfilling of the Law. The fulfilling of love is the essence of the Law in motion.

In summary, God saw all He did and said it was good. The Law is good and we show the goodness of it through love.

What paul is saying here in Romans 7 is that Christ took away the sins we commited under the law before he came. And he died on the cross as the last sacrificial offering to the father to do away with the law of sacrifice after a sin. So that is where grace comes in so we don't have to be judged or give a burnt offering for our sins when we fall short.

But all the laws still stand, that's why Christ says in Mathew "until heaven and earth are still here not one jot or title shall pass away from the law until all be fulfilled. meaning until all the prophecies are fulfilled"

Mathew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

"I am not come to destroy but fulfil" Christ is Talking about him fulfilling his place in prophecy because he was written in the old testament. How do we know this? he comes back on the next verse and says 'Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled'

meaning until all the prophecies written up in the bible are fulfilled, and until the new heaven and the new earth are established.

If Christ fulfilled the law on the cross and the law is nomor, then it would be a contradiction when says keep the law over and over right?

Excellent.

We KNOW the Law, and, we better follow it, but, the Lord leads us, and, He leads us by His indwelling Spirit IN us, living, breathing, nurturing, helping, comforting, acting, and, surely, in so doing, He will follow the Law, Nothing of His Word is to come back void. The Law is from God and it IS ALL good for us, like cee said, yadayadauah, just that we are NOW to live of "the newness in the Spirit." :)

How all of you can make the scripture you are quoting mean that God tossed out a big portion of scripture, nullified the entire 119th psalm, is going to allow the stars to go wild and stop their orbit, the ocean to loose the law, in order to have your spirit of the law I can not fathom!

Of course, we are not under law, we have Christ's forgiveness. Paul told us in Romans that didn't cancel the order that God has for us. And the idea that we don't need to read anything of that order but rely on our minds because we also have the Holy spirit just isn't something we can take to the bank. We still need to read.

I have read miles of posting about how we can toss law out of our lives, and I just can't see how you could be sold such a bill of goods. We know that the spiritual meaning of all law, the love behind it, is the important thing. But then, it isn't working to say we only live in the spirit, don't have to perform any physical thing. When we refuse to allow our body to do any worship we are not getting the worshipping done. You can't spiritually rest one day a week while you let your body perform work.

Matthew 7:21-23

21 Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?"
23 And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness."

This reasoning just plain doesn't work. You're suggesting a time will come when it's OK to murder, steal, lie, commit adultery, covet what belongs to you neighbor, bear false witness, worship other gods, NOT love God with all your heart, mind, and strength? The law which is written upon our hearts is the same one written by the hand of God Himself.

The law is fulfilled, yes, by the death and resurrection of Christ. As in, it is now complete.
