Are catholics Christian?

There are many versions of catholics now, like couples for Christ, singles for Christ, but are they really Christians of the bible?

Most Christians know only the tiniest fraction of what Jesus can give them. This includes Catholics. We all need to follow Jesus until we have left the thoughts of men behind.

The least Christian people are people who go around judging and claiming they are more Christian than other people. If you are picking who to hang out with, looks at their actions. How do they treat the poor, the sick and the hungry? That’s says more about who they are than what church they go to.

Are 'Protestants' Christians?

I know both many 'Roman Catholics' and 'Protestants' who are NOT Christians and quite a few of both who ARE Christians.

The situation is that there are groups in both denominations who claim to be what they are not, because they have not called upon the Name of the Lord Jesus and been washed in His blood, as faith in Jesus is what makes either Roman Catholic or Protestant a Christian! Acts 2v21, Rev 1v5...

According to scripture we are not to judge. God is judging you, and your asking that question is one of the things you are being judged by according to scripture. Your asking us to judge all Catholics is bad enough, opening yourself to God's judgment should make you terrified.

I'm sorry but that verse is commonly taken out of context. Jesus is talking about hypocritical judging. How can you judge another of something you yourself are also guilty of? As you can see when you read the whole thing. Jesus warned us about false prophets and said by their fruits you shall know them. How will we discern if one is a false teacher without exercising righteous judgement? We all shall be judged according to the word so use the scriptures as the source.

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

God who knows all, sees all, has an infinite amount of tools. Brings all to make their choice consciously to either belief in God or not. For no one will be with an excuse to what they choose.
For all will bow and all will know, consciously to whatever they Choose. Now this is exactly why Christ sent us each that believe the Holy Ghost.
For it is God that knows what to say to whom and when to say. If we will decide to be God's vessel to use us to tell truth by God through us. God does just love us all and is waiting for us to make the conscious choice in belief or no belief in God

Christ's death for us actually constituted the below verses, and either we are going to believe God or we are not

I echo what others have said. Proportionally I think there are fewer Christians in the Roman Catholic Church than, say, the Southern Baptist Convention. To a great degree, in fact.

That said, the born-again Catholics I do know are serious folks.

I was a Catholic for 33 years before being saved by grace and come from a long line of Catholics, at least 5 generations that I can trace back. Now I'm a friend of God anointed with His holy spirit and it tells me what God would have me do and guides me, I need no man, tradition of my dad's, or a house built with the hands of men to justify my faith, or teach me anything when it comes to God, but Looking back, I'd definitely say I was a Christian then as I believed in Christ as all Catholics do. I think the majority of Catholics are decent people and of course Christians that believe "God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten son Yahoshua (Jesus) Christ to be a propitiation (atoning sacrifice) for their sins." The problem is that the majority of the people in the RCC are way to trustworthy when it comes to listening to these men,following the examples of their dad's, that they are moved into non-biblical teachings, believing everything the RCC tells them even if it's blatantly false. (Pio, stigmata, Mariam worship,bowing and praying below a statue, the rosary, ect.) These things don't help a Christian grow spiritually or edify them, but blinds and hinders them to the open line they have with God the Father and the LORD our God Yahoshua (Jesus) Christ 24/7. When I shared my testimony of grace with the priest at St. Bonaventure in Huntington beach, Ca, thinking in my head they would embrace me and rejoice in God's mercy towards a sinner like me, he told me that being a Catholic and practicing their theology was the only acceptable way with God and them. He didn't care about the miracle of me receiving the free gift of God. I was instantly a enemy and a protestant....lol. If you don't believe me try and tell them you are seeking God and found Him outside of the RCC, then you will become an enemy and protestant as well no matter how pious or devout you are or were. They wanted me to submit to a house and teaching of men and not to my maker. I could never do that, nor would anyone else with my experience do that.
I love all my brothers and sisters Catholic or not but I have learned the history of the RCC and there is no way now that I would ever go back. Those of you that have left already know where I'm coming from. Yes Catholics are Christian but a lot of their teachings are not.

I think it's the person's relationship with Jesus. I once needed to go into a Catholic Food Pantry to pick up a couple bags of groceries, I told the women behind the desk, I'm christian too, she replyed " catholic is not christian. So much for that, but how could they be not Christian when they are doing what Jesus said, I was hungry and you feed me. I think many Catholics are Born again believers. I don't like to look at the title but how they live, are they producing spiritual fruits. ​

Well said! Reminds me of James 4:11-12 --Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one law giver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

I can see why people are jumping on the judgement bandwagon but I dont think the OP is asking if their going to heaven or hell. I think their asking in more naming conventions. The guy next door might believe in Jesus like myself and call himself a Catholic because he goes to a Catholic church, Cathlolics rarely, in my experience, call themselves Christian like people myself who do not attend a Catholic church call myself Catholic. Get what i'm saying? lol

They do not believe in salvation by faith which is key to salvation. If they do believe in salvation by faith they are no longer catholic even if they go to a catholic church.

Study Church history since the time of Christ and you will find your answer. Yes, Catholics are Christians, and were so 1500 years before Protestants. The Catholic Church is the original Christian church, founded by our Lord Jesus Christ himself ("You are Peter [Rock] and upon this rock I will build my church"). Protestantism was born out of Roman Catholicism in the 1500's when a disenfranchised Catholic Priest named Martin Luther protested some corrupt practices of local clergy. This action escalated into what we see today,, 30,000+ separate denominations all teaching different stuff. Not at all what our Lord intended when he prayed to the Father that we would all be one.
Yes, Catholics are Christian. Extremely Christian. The first Christians.
