The cross is the mark of the beast. The beast we are talking about is a political entity that once existed and whose remnants are still with us today. That beast (the second one of Revelations) was the Holy Roman Empire, whose religion was that of Rome and whose mark was the cross. It is still the mark of the Roman church and also of those daughter churces that although rejecting Rome's authority have continued to promulgate Romes wicked doctrines (immortal soul, supernatural devil, going to heaven etc). It adorns their building and their books, it is worn around the neck as jewelry, and those who worship that mark, will often give their lives in defence of it and what it represents. If you have ever wondered why anyone would accept the mark of the beast, you now know. It is widely accepted because, in error, people believe it is a "christian" symbol. As for all that stuff about the mark being a chip or some other hi-tech device, forget about that, it being only a story told by those who have already accepted the mark and are trying to deny it by finding another meaning for it. If you want to know more, study the history of the Holy Roman Empire and the Roman church.

The word cross was added to scripture and the word stake was taken out. Jesus was crucified on an up right stake, a tree.

Even if this is not true, why have a cross hang around your neck. Are you worshiping the Cross or are you worshipping Jesus Christ. Why not hang a picture of Him a round your neck. It is not the death of Christ on a stake or a cross but it is that He lives again that we are free from Death.

Thirdly, In the book of Numbers God commanded the Jews wandering through the dessert to set up camp each night in a specific pattern. By graphing out the numbers given in the directions God commanded, they camped every night in the shape of a cross.

Lastly, there is no evidence of any kind to suggest Christ died on a pole other than the greek word can be translated as pole or stake.

Part 25 of THE ORDER OF LAST DAY EVENTS

"In the last great conflict of the controversy with Satan, those who are loyal to God will see every earthly support cut off. Because they refuse to break His law in obedience to earthly powers, they will be forbidden to buy or sell. It will be decreed that they shall be put to death." Desire of Ages,12,122.

It must be evident that all this will occupy a period of time. It will not take place in a moment. The sequence of events then which is clearly portrayed in this particular statement, is that first the Sunday Law is past, then comes the refusal on the part of God's people to obey that law, which brings at some future point of time the passing of the buy and sell decree (Rev.13:16-17), followed again by a further refusal on the part of God's people in the face of this added pressure, which in turn causes the world to bring upon them the death decree. (Rev.13:5)

Thus the test becomes progressively stiffer and stiffer until it reaches the ultimate of its pressure in the passing of the death decree against the people of God. This fact is brought to view very plainly in the 1884 edition of the book The Great Controversy, page 444, which reads as follows:

"In the last great conflict, the Sabbath will be the special point of controversy throughout all Christendom. Secular rulers and religious rulers will unite to enforce the observance of the Sunday and as milder measures fail, the most oppressive laws will be enacted. It will be urged that the few who stand in opposition to an institution of the church or a law of the land ought not to be tolerated and a decree will finally be issued denouncing them as deserving of the severest punishment and giving the people liberty after a certain time to put them to death. Romanism in the old world and Apostate Protestantism in the new will pursue a similar course to those who honour the divine precepts."

Part 26 of THE ORDER OF LAST DAY EVENTS

It will become apparent as we plunge more deeply into the study of the order of last day events that the people of God are NOT particularly tested when the Sunday Law is first produced. The reason for this lies in the fact, that, at that time, they will be a people so few in number and of such minor consequence on the affairs of this world, that the powers that be will not even be concerned about them in the passing of this law. The Sunday law will be introduced as a measure on the part of the churches to secure to them a power to replace the power which they have lost in their turning away from the living God.

We shall also learn as we progress that the first measure taken against the people of God will NOT be persecution but will be argument. When this fails, then persecution will be generated against them, and when that fails they will be hauled up before the courts of the land. When that fails they will impose against them the buy and sell decree and when that fails ultimately will come the death decree.

So, then, the people of God do not find themselves faced with the ultimate test at the very moment when the Sunday law is passed. The key statement already given, shows that it is the result of the refusal on the part of the people of God to obey that law which brings the test upon them. And as we progress we shall also learn from the evidences of the prophetic word, that the refusal of the people of God is not going to be a passive thing. It will not only be a refusal on their part but it will also be an exposure under the mighty power of the Holy Spirit of the very evil of the thing which has been done by church and state.

We shall learn that the act of setting up the Image of the Beast, having caused the complete downfall of Babylon the Great, brings the world to the point where it is ripe to receive the destructive judgments of the seven last plagues. It is the point of tremendous crisis, and the Lord will not let the world perish without ONE FINAL WARNING, and a calling of all His true children to come out of Babylon the Great before it is forever too late.

The ten "horns" are " ten kings" who have received no kingdom
as yet but when they shall receive a kingdom, they will give their
power and authority to the papacy and reign with her for a
short time until they turn their backs on her and destroy
her completely. This we read in Revelation 17:12.

Again these "horns" are "kings" who have received no kingdom
as yet. They are the major religions of this world who will follow
the example of Apostate Protestantism by seeking the power of
their respective state to enforce Sunday in their own countries
thus making an image to the beast.

Apostate Protestantism will set the example. Apostate Protestantism
does not have a kingdom as yet but when it shall received the power of the
State (union of church and state) to enforce religious observance in the U.S.
then she will have received a kingdom and all the major religions of the world
(there are ten of them) will follow her example and this is how the image of the
beast will be set up in every country on the globe. All these will eventually give
their power and authority to the papacy and thus her wound will be healed and
she will rule the world again and persecution will raise its ugly head.

Earnestly desiring information on this subject, which I have studied for many years, I ask, where can the record of such a transaction be found? Not in the New Testament - absolutely not. Congregationalist: The Christian Sabbath' [Sunday] is not in the Scripture
"The Christian Sabbath' [Sunday] is not in the Scripture, and was not by the primitive [early Christian] church called the Sabbath." Timothy Dwight, Theology, sermon 107, 1818 ed., Vol. IV, p49 [Dwight (1752-1817) was president of Yale University from 1795-1817].

Dr. R. W. Dale- The Ten Commandments " . . . it is quite clear that however rigidly or devotedly we may spend Sunday, we are not keeping the Sabbath - - . .the Sabbath was founded on a specific Divine command. We can plead no such command for the obligation to observe Sunday .... There is not a single sentence in the New Testament to suggest that we incur any penalty by violating the supposed sanctity of Sunday."

Episcopal: Bible commandment says the seventh day "The Bible commandment says on the seventh-day thou shalt rest. That is Saturday. Nowhere in the Bible is it laid down that worship should be done on Sunday." Phillip Carrington, quoted in Toronto Daily Star, Oct 26, 1949 [Carrington (1892-), Anglican archbishop of Quebec, spoke the avove in a message on this subject delivered to a packed assembly of clergymen. It was widely reported at the time in the news media].
Lutheran:They err in teaching Sunday Sabbath But they err in teaching that Sunday has taken the place of the Old Testament Sabbath and therefore must be kept as the seventh day had to be kept by the children of Israel.....These churches err in their teaching, for scripture has in no way ordained the first day of the week in place of the Sabbath. Methodist: Jesus did not abolish the moral law - no command to keep holy the first day
The moral law contained in the Ten Commandments, and enforced by the prophets, He Jesus did not take away. It was not the design of His coming to revoke any part of this. This is a law which can never be broken...Every part of this law must remain in force upon all mankind and in all ages; as not depending either on time or place, or any other circumstances liable to change, but on the nature of man, and their unchangeable relation to each other." "I honestly believe that this commandment [the Sabbath commandment] is just as binding today as it ever was. I have talked with men who have said that it has been abrogated [abolilshed], but they have never been able to point to any place in the Bible where God repealed it. When Christ was on earth, He did nothing to set it aside; He freed it from the traces under which the scribes and Pharisees had put it, and gave it its true place. 'The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath' [mark 2:27]. It is just as practicable and as necessary for men today as it ever was - in fact, more than ever, because we live in such an intense age. (Moody was also a Methodist)

"The [Seventh-day] Sabbath was binding in Eden, and it has been in force ever since. This Fourth Commandment [Exodus 20:8-11] begins with the word 'remember,' showing that the Sabbath had already existed when God wrote the law on the tables of stone at Sinai. SEVEN DAY ADVENTISTS:
...the Lord has clearly defined the road to the city of God; but the great apostate has changed the signpost, setting up a false one--a spurious sabbath. He says: "I will work at cross purposes with God. I will empower my delegate, the man of sin, to take down God's memorial, the seventh-day Sabbath. Thus will I show the world that the day sanctified and blessed by God has been changed. That day shall not live in the minds of the people. I will obliterate the memory of it. I will place in its stead a day bearing not the credentials of heaven, a day that can not be a sign between God and his people. I will lead the people who accept this day, to place upon it the sanctify that God placed upon the seventh day. Through my vicegerent I will exalt myself. The first day shall be extolled, and the Protestant world shall receive this spurious sabbath as genuine. Through the non-observance of the Sabbath God instituted, I will bring his law into contempt. The words, 'A sign between me and you throughout your generations,' I will make to serve on the side of my sabbath. Thus the world will become mine. I will be ruler of the earth, prince of the world. I will so control the minds under my power that God's Sabbath shall be an object of contempt. A sign? I will make the observance of the seventh day a sign of disloyalty to the authorities of earth. Human laws shall be made so stringent that men and women will not dare to observe the seventh-day Sabbath. For fear of wanting food and clothing, they will join with the world in transgressing God's law; and the earth will be wholly under my dominion."

The man of sin has instituted a false sabbath, and the professed Christian world has adopted this child of the papacy, refusing to obey God. Thus Satan leads men and women in a direction opposite to the city of refuge; and by the multitudes who follow him, it is demonstrated that Adam and Eve are not the only ones who have accepted the words of the wily foe. {RH, April 17, 1900 par. 5}

The enemy of all good has turned the signpost round, so that it points to the path of disobedience as the path of happiness. He has insulted Jehovah by refusing to obey a "Thus saith the Lord." He has thought to change times and laws. -Ellen G. White {Review and Herald, April 17, 1900 par. 4 & 5}

ENCYCLOPEDIA: "Sunday was a name given by the heathen to the first day of the week, because it was the day on which they worshiped the sun, ... the seventh day was blessed and hallowed by God Himself, and...
