A DOCUMENTATION OF “LOVE” IN THE FOUR GOSPELS
(I believe this is what Christians should focus on.........just saying)
Matthew 3:17) And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my[beloved] Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Matthew 5:44) But I say unto you, [Love] your enemies, blessthem that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them whichdespitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 .) That ye maybe the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun torise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on theunjust.
46 .) For if ye [love]them which [ love] you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans thesame?
Matthew 6:5) And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as thehypocrites are: for they[ love] to pray standing in the synagogues and in thecorners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Matthew 22:37) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt[ love] theLord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Mark 10:21) Then Jesus beholding him [loved] him, and saidunto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, andgive to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up thecross, and follow me.
Mark12:30) And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thyheart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:this is the first commandment.
31 .) And the secondis like, namely this, Thou shalt [love] thy neighbour as thyself……….33) And to [love]him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul,and with all the strength, and to [love] his neighbour as himself, is more thanall whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
Luke 3:22) And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shapelike a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my[beloved] Son; in thee I am well pleased.
Luke 6:32) For if ye [love] them which love you, what thankhave ye? for sinners also love those that [love] them…………35) But[ love] ye yourenemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shallbe great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto theunthankful and to the evil.
Luke 10:27) And he answering said, Thou shalt [love] theLord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thystrength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
Luke 11:43) Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye [love] theuppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
Luke 16:13) No servant can serve two masters: for either hewill hate the one, and [love] the other; or else he will hold to the one, anddespise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
John 3:16) For God so [loved] the world, that he gave hisonly begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but haveeverlasting life…………………………..35) The Father [loveth] the Son, and hath given allthings into his hand.

John 12:43) For they [loved] the praise of men more than thepraise of God.
John13:1) Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesusknew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto theFather, having [loved] his own which were in the world, he [loved] them untothe end.
John 13:34) new commandment I give unto you, That ye [love]one another; as I have [loved] you, that ye also [love] one another. 35) By this shall all men know that ye are mydisciples, if ye have [love] one to another.
John 14:15) If ye [love] me, keep my commandments……………….21)He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that [loveth] me: andhe that [loveth] me shall be [loved] of my Father, and I will [love] him, andwill manifest myself to him……………23) Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man[love] me, he will keep my words: and my Father will [love] him, and we willcome unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 .) He that[loveth] me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine,but the Father's which sent me……………….31) But that the world may know that I[love] the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise,let us go hence.
John 15:9) As the Father hath [loved] me, so have I [loved]you: continue ye in my [love].
10 .) If ye keep mycommandments, ye shall abide in my [love]; even as I have kept my Father's commandments,and abide in his [love]………….12) This is my commandment, That ye [love] oneanother, as I have [loved] you.
13 .) Greater [love]hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends…………17)These things I command you, that ye [love] one another…………19) If ye were of theworld, the world would [love] his own: but because ye are not of the world, butI have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
John16:27) For the Father himself [loveth] you, because yehave [loved] me, and have believed that I came out from God.
John17:23) I in them, and thou in me, that they may be madeperfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast[loved] them, as thou hast [loved] me.
24 .) Father, I willthat they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they maybehold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou [lovedst] me before thefoundation of the world…….26) And I have declared unto them thy name, and willdeclare it: that the [love] wherewith thou hast [loved] me may be in them, andI in them.
John 21:7) Therefore that disciple whom Jesus [loved] saithunto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, hegirt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself intothe sea…………..15) So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, sonof Jonas, [lovest] thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thouknowest that I [love] thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
16 .) He saith to himagain the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, [lovest] thou me? He saith untohim, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I [love] thee. He saith unto him, Feed mysheep.
17 .) He saith untohim the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, [lovest] thou me? Peter was grievedbecause he said unto him the third time, [Lovest] thou me? And he said untohim, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I [love] thee. Jesussaith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Yes it does appear the gospels teach of love a lot doesn't it? I wonder what the message is? ;D

this is useful, compiling all the Scriptures that talk about love. great way to get the context of how we are supposed to love and the usage of love.

Peace be with you, the message is 'abide' in them. then one will be free from the Old Testament, documented truth as the 'Yoke of Slavery' for carnal living men and women.

I don't see the love described in the New Testament as being any different from "tribalism" -- love of one's close neighbors and kin to the exclusion of outsiders. There are repeated demonstrations of prejudice and condescension shown towards tax collectors, pharisees, "the elders", and non-Jews (as well as certain Jews, such as Samaritans). There are some nice demonstrations of "acceptance", such as the stories involving Nicodemus, Mary Magdalene, the Samaritan woman at the well, and the times Jesus ate with or visited pharisees, tax collectors, and "sinners"...

Furthermore, as much as it's nice to see the word "love" sprinkled liberally throughout the gospels, how does this compare with uses of the word "hate"? Even in some of these references we see unloving things said, such as in Luke 11:43 (about Pharisees "loving" the prominent seats) and John 12:43 (again about the Pharisees, this time about "loving" the praise of men, which follows the very unkind John 12:40). The Pharisees were one of the main punching bags of the gospels, and at no point does Jesus ever say "I love them" about this discriminated-against group.

The commands to love is not the gospel but rather a command...i.e. law.
God's love toward us is the gospel...a perfect love...a dying love...a life giving love.

do you, a man, love your neighbor every day, placing his needs above your own (or at least equal to)?
do you, a man, love strangers - both the proud and cruel, and the lowly and suffering?

no. you don't.
neither do any of us, as God defines LOVE (He is LOVE).

are you completely self-sacrifcing in everything you do, not paying heed to your own needs to serve others - even your enemies?
no, you aren't. neither are we.

NOT LIKE JESUS WAS. He died to save and forgive His enemies - us....and you.

GOD IS LOVE...........is He not? GOD IS LIGHT......is He not?..........GOD IS GRACE...........is He not?..........GOD IS MERCY......is He not?...........GOD IS! (is He not?)

There are all kinds of "love," or, more correctly, all kinds of ways mankind uses the word "love."

Yet, LOVE is OF-GOD...........real love, true love, pure love.........a wise man once said........"Greater love hath no man......." and the wonderful thing is, we can "READ ALL ABOUT IT" in the greatest Book of Love ever written.

That was Christ's preaching to his own that he came for in showing us all that we can't perform these things complete, that it is impossible as he said this to his own disciples as they saw the rich man walk away sadly. They had already heard other things like cut off the hand, foot or gouge out the eye if you sin. better for part of us to go to heaven than all of us to go to hell.

This was done before the cross and was under Law. Was Christ fulfilling Law and Prophets that predicted him? Yes and at the same time Annihilating us, as in we can't be perfect. So when the disciples were convinced of this not being able to go to heaven unless they became a torso, all limbs cut off and tongue cut out along with eyes. For they heard loud and clear that no matter what they did or do, they were not going to make it to heaven
So they ask Jesus:

So when has this been made possible? or has this been made possible, since there is nothing we can do to add or take away from God's truth where he did this

What does this enable God to do for you or anyone that believes? Yes that is right give you new life here and now in God's Spirit, so we do the love of God because we now see that God first
1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

This can only be done in God's born again Spirit through the resurrected Christ shown to us all by Pentecost
Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
Acts 2:18 and on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

God is love, always has been. When we see Christ, we see the Father, as Christ told us.

Lev_19:18 Do not take revenge or bear a grudge against members of your community, but love your neighbor as yourself; I am Yahweh.
Lev_19:34 You must regard the foreigner who lives with you as the native-born among you. You are to love him as yourself, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt; I am Yahweh your God.

God gave law out of love for us from the beginning to help us avoid the evil in the world. Moses was given an expansion on this, and Jesus explained it further.

Mat_5:22But I tell you, everyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Fool!' will be subject to the Sanhedrin. But whoever says, 'You moron!' will be subject to hellfire.
Mat_5:28But I tell you, everyone who looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Mat_5:32But I tell you, everyone who divorces his wife, except in a case of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

When God explains to us how much better His saving grace is through what Christ did for us, it in no way says that God was not a loving and forgiving God who gave grace before God sent Christ to be crucified for us.

Peace be with you, love of JESUS also consist of corrections. Without corrections how can one know and change when the Teachings are SPIRITUAL in the New Covenant to practice that is to abide and not carnal which has been a failure. They were contenting with the promised MESSIAH to come and has come. They should have known better who held the key of Scripture Knowledge to the restoration Kingdom to come. That is why JESUS corrected them that they themselves do not come in and they stop from others to come in. That is why JESUS said to HIS Disciples who HE prepared for the New Covenant to learn from them and do not do what they do. HE said to them that their righteousness must exceed than the Pharisees.
Please pray and read Hebrew chapter 12. the correction and chastisement of GOD, HIS Love for who's benefit and not JESUS who established them for GOD HIS FATHER.
Does the Holy Scripture of the Old and New Covenant say GOD love to punish sinners?
Or do they say, HE speaks in HIS Love first in corrections and then HE chastises in order for HIS purposes or for the sinners future?
As it is written in GOD's Word; "HE does not love to punish sinners but HE love to see them turning back from their sins." (which HE through HIS chosen servants and now through HIS only begotten SON HE still highlights first but sadly sinners rather further continue to live in ignorance failing partially as failing the whole, to all that is written in HIS Covenants which HE has called to 'abide'.)

Peace be with you. the true knowledge of 'sin' to Christians then and today is breaking GOD's New Covenant and all that is written in them for those who have faith in JESUS to 'abide'.
As it is written to those who 'abide' in them; "............... and you will know the truth and the truth shall set you free." (free from the bondage of sin and even second death, no matter they are Christian Jews or Gentiles of the New Covenant)

Thanks RedTent under the Law as in trying to perform it shows us our inability to obey Law and are in need of the Savior Jesus the way, the truth, and the life.
