Just a fun poll! I tried to look up and see if this has been done already and most of the posts I found were in the teen forums asking if getting tattooed and pierced displeased God. (Aw... they're so cute)

I'm not tattooed, but I have a lip ring (a half of a snakebite) and I've had it for about five years. When my uncle saw it he said, "The boys will run in the opposite direction when they see that!" Needless to say I don't think he approved, haha.

Although it is a bit of a superficial thing to be concerned about, I can't help but wonder if the guys at church see my piercings and dismiss me as "freaky" or "one of THOSE kinds of girls". Some girls at my church have a nose ring at the most although nose rings seem more acceptable for some reason. Outside of the Christian community some guys might think it's cool, but what do the Christian guys think?

What is the first thing you think of when you meet a girl with a facial piercing? Do you run in the opposite direction? Do you think she's "one of THOSE girls"? Do you think she's just expressing her fashion and personality? Do you not care? Men and women alike, let's hear your opinions! I'm very curious.

My first thought is: "Awesome!" I admire people who can express themselves that way. I work for a Christian nonprofit, so I have to be a little more conservative. But honestly, I would get a nose ring if I had a more stately nose.

I see no problem with piercings or tattoos. I have lived and ministered in different countries, so I have observed differences in what is considered "normal" Christian behavior. There is a pretty wide variety in how believers around the world look and behave.

Not a fan of piercing in general. If someone wants to, i don't care. Just not my thing.

I have my ears pierced 3 times each, and my nose. Uh, once. Yeah. No big deal. Nobody besides my mother has ever said anything about it to me.

I think it's highly distracting when someone has a lot of their face pierced, but just the nose or lip or eyebrow (not all at once!) isn't bad.

I'm a little weird in that I'm fine with piercings that are anyplace that is NOT the face. Body piercings don't bother me in the slightest (they can even be a little tantalizing to the fleshly man in me), but I honestly tend to think that facial piercings kind of mar an already beautiful face.

It's like slapping a ludicrous spoiler on the back of an Aston Martin or adding techno-beats to one of Brahms' clarinet sonatas. You can do it, but...why? It didn't need the improvement to begin with.

That's just ME, though. And it's not an automatic shutdown if the lady has a facial piercing. *shrug*

no comment, only that you keep your eyes on the One pierced for our transgressions.

I'm not attracted to girls with facial piercings but I definitely wouldn't just walk the other way or ignore them.

I've seen small nose studs that looked tasteful, but I don't really care for anything larger or more distracting than that. Sometimes it just seems to "fit" someone's style, which is fine. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Just not my thing. I don't care for tattoos either, male or female, unless they are very small and discreet.

I've seen lots of pretty girls,
but never one with a nose so regal I thought she should stuff it full of diamonds.

Just thinking out loud.

I like piercings in the ear, and the belly button ones can be attractive. There's some girls who get their lip pierced too, and it looks great. I don't like the tongue though, or the nose, or nipples, or anywhere else crazy like that...

Just my opinion.

Be who you are. :)

Interesting observation:
Looking at the poll results so far, it's either 'whatever', or 'no'.
No one has said 'Yes, I love me a girl with a face full of hardware...'

I, personally, say 'whatever' to a single modest piercing, and no to multiple piercings.

A little something I found online, it applies both to men and women:

'The Old Testament law commanded the Israelites, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD” (
Leviticus 19:28). So, even though believers todayare not under the Old Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15), the fact that there was a command against tattoos should raise some questions. The New Testament does notsay anything about whether or not a believer should get a tattoo.

In relation to tattoos and body piercings, a good test is to determine whether we can honestly, in good conscience, ask God to bless and use that particular activity for His own good purposes. “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (
1 Corinthians 10:31). The New Testament does notcommand against tattoos or body piercings, but it also does not give us any reason to believe God would have us get tattoos or body piercings.

An important scriptural principle on issues the Bible does not specifically address is if there is room for doubt whether it pleases God, then it is best not to engage in that activity.
Romans 14:23 reminds us that anything that does not come from faith is sin. We need to remember that our bodies, as well as our souls, have been redeemed and belong to God. Although 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 does not directly apply totattoos or body piercings, it does give us a principle: “Do you not know thatyour body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have receivedfrom God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor Godwith your body.” This great truth should have a real bearing on what we do and where we go with our bodies. If our bodies belong to God, we should make sure we have His clear “permission” before we “mark them up” with tattoos or bodypiercings.'

Sourcë: What does the Bible say about tattoos / body piercings?

Not a huge fan of them tbh, but sometimes a nose one or lip one can be ok. (or ear, or upper ear can be quite cool)

Verses that could support tattoos or other body art:

Genesis 24:47: Then I asked her, ‘Whose daughter are you?’ She said, ‘The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bore to him.’ So I put the ring on her nose and the bracelets on her arms.

Exodus 21:2-3, 5-6: But if the servant plainly says, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,' then his master shall bring him to the judges. He shall also bring him to the door, or to the doorpost, and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him forever.

Ezekiel 9:4: And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

Ezekiel 9:6: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.

Ezekiel 16:11-12: I adorned you with ornaments, put bracelets on your wrists, and a chain on your neck. And I put a jewel in your nose, earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head. (God speaking to his people and comparing their relationship to a bride and groom.)

Revelation 19:16: And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

The context for the Levitical law against cutting or printing on the skin is frequently overlooked. Leviticus 19:26-31 is comprised of 3 complete paragraphs that are a call to separation from pagan types of worship. It forbids eating blood, making enchantments, cutting flesh in mourning, giving your daughter as a temple prostitute, and seeking out practitioners of magic, among others. These were all practiced by the pagan cultures around them, and God was commanding that worship of Him was to be entirely different. It's inconsistent (and could be argued hypocritical) to use verse 28 to condemn tattoos (and somehow extending it to other forms of body art), while ignoring verse 27 in the same paragraph that is opposed to trimming the beard.

I don’t think body piercings pass the modesty test.
1 Timothy 2:9-10 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
