Re: What about the "old fashioned" and even "archaic" language of the King James Bibl

Screw it - lets just read the Hebrew and Greek and lets be done with it - or they are not KJV so, i guess it's not ok....

The Archaic language makes us think we are more serious - it's funny because most people can't read the archaic language and have no idea what it actually says,
And you STILL have NO infallible Bible to believe in. If you want to settle for that and want to be in doubt and keep wondering what God may or may not have said in His words, then go for it. Most Christians today are opting for an "easy to understand" version which they not only do NOT believe IS the infallible words of God but which they end up studying, reading and believing less and less.

Re: What about the "old fashioned" and even "archaic" language of the King James Bibl

The Bible is the Bible, we are not ment to have a "perfect" version with every letter and puncuation written correctly. that will simply create problems. Christianity is spread through witnessing, testimony and from people seeing miracles, Changing words such as Easter to Passover and nosering from facering, is not going to impact peoples desire to seek and know GOd.

We have God Jesus and Holy SPirit at centre of our faith, not the King James Bible.

I Love the King JAmes Bible and have nothing against it, what I do object to are the cult of King james Only, who seem to think we have this special Bible that is the only perfect Bible, when logically this is ridiculous, as why wait 1600 years for the perfect word to come and why English?

I urge people reading this to stay away from this horrendous theology and what this cult teaches, as it is the work of Satan, just look at the division this cult has created already, just look at the condemnation they pour on everyone else and the attitude that everyone else is wrong and they are right, the final clincher they are a cult is that we have to join them to be on the right side of God over "Bible Issue". that is a cult 100%.

Agricola, in case you haven't noticed, Christianity is already deeply divided. One of the many divisions is between those who believe God has given to the world an infallible Bible (King James Bible believers) and those like you who do not. You not only do not believe there was no infallible Bible before the King James Bible, but you don't believe there is one now - in any language.

Re: What about the "old fashioned" and even "archaic" language of the King James Bibl

I first read the Bible, (Revised Standard Version), cover to cover in 1973. I concluded it was real, because someone, a very long time ago, knew far more about the future than any human being could have possibly known. I then read it cover to cover again, (Jerusalem Bible), this time taking notes, wherein any topic that raised my interest got a heading at the top of a blank page in my notebook, and any further references to that topic, or any related topic, got their chapter, verses, and subject entered on that same page. In this way I collected all references to any given subject that got my attention.

Having done that, I then read the Bible cover to cover yet again, this time comparing seven different versions, (King James Version, Jerusalem Bible, Revised Standard Version, New Revised Standard Version, Ryrie Study Bible - NASV, New International Version, and Darby Translation), on a verse by verse basis to see if any one version was more accurate than others at any given point. I found the Jerusalem Bible to be the most accurate overall, with the New Revised Standard Version coming in second most accurate, and the Darby Translation coming in third most accurate, though all of the others had some points at which they were most accurate.

I then began to study and research those points which had caught my interest

E.G. That is how I found the "Lilith Code", "The Nicolaitanes Code" "The Fallen Angels Code" - and others.

Re The Jerusalem Bible being most accurate, See :

See Revelation 6 [SUP]1 - 8 (Jerusalem Bible)
Revelation 6 : 1 - 8 : "Then I saw the Lamb break one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four animals shout in a voice like thunder, 'Come'. Immediately a white horse appeared, and the rider on it was holding a bow; he was given the victor's crown and he went away, to go from victory 3528 to victory. 3528 When he broke the second seal, I heard the second animal shout, 'Come'. And out came another horse, bright red, and its rider was given this duty: to take away the peace from the earth and set people killing each other. He was given a huge sword. When he broke the third seal, I heard the third animal shout, 'Come'. Immediately a black horse appeared, and its rider was holding a pair of scales; and I seemed to hear a voice shout from among the four animals and say, 'A ration of corn for a day's wages, and three rations of barley for a days wages, but do not tamper with the oil or the wine'. When he broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth animal shout, 'Come'. Immediately another horse appeared, deathly pale, and its rider was called Plague, and Hades followed at his heels. They were given authority over a quarter of the earth, to kill by the sword, by famine, by plague, and by wild beasts."

Note that these are the "Four Horses of the Apocalypse", and that the "White Horse" whose rider is "armed with a bow", (A weapon that strikes from the air), and has been given the "victor's crown", "to go from victory* to victory*"

See cross reference to Zechariah 6 : 1 - 3 ; (found at Revelations 6 2).in the Jerusalem Bible.

See Zechariah 6 : 1 - 6 Jerusalem Bible.
Zechariah 6 1 - 6 : "Again I raised my eyes, and this is what I saw: four chariots coming out between the two mountains, and the mountains were mountains of bronze. The first chariot had red horses, the second chariot had black horses, the third chariot had white horses and the fourth chariot had (vigorous) piebald horses.* I asked the angel who was talking to me, I said 'What is the meaning of these, my lord?' The angel answered,'These are going out to the four winds of heaven after standing before the Lord of the whole world. The red horses are going out to the country of the East; the black horses are going out to the country of the North; the white are going out to the country of the West and the piebald* are going out to the country of the South.' "

*
Note: The Jerusalem Bible calls the horses of the fourth chariot: "(vigorous) piebald". Other Bibles call them as follows:
Jerusalem Bible : ............................ (vigorous) piebald
King James Bible : ........................... grisled and bay
Darby Bible: ..................................... grizled strong (vigorous)
Revised Standard Bible : .................. dappled grey (uncertain)
New American Standard Bible : .... . strong dappled
New International Bible : ................ dappled, all powerful

This is clearly a case where the meaning of the original Hebrew word has been lost. I suspect that "deathly pale", (in line with Revelation 6 7 ), might be a more accurate translation .

Note: Only the Jerusalem Bible has in my opinion given the correct translation of which direction the various horses go in. Other Bibles give directions as follows:
Jerusalem Bible : ................................ red east, black north, white west, piebald south.
King James Bible : .............................. black north, white after, grisled south.
Darby Bible: ........................................ black north, white after, grizled south.
Revised Standard Bible : ..................... black north, white west (after them), dappled south.
New American Standard Bible : ......... black north, white after, dappled south.
New International Bible : ................... black north, white west (or after them), dappled south.

i.e. The red horse, whose rider was armed with a giant sword was the U.S.S.R.,- which had 40,000 tanks as compared to the American's 5,000 and the white horse, whose rider was armed with a BOW, (a weapon that strikes from the air), is the U.S.A. - To whom was given the victor's crown, to go from victory to victory.

Here is a verse from my 57 verse "Bible Poem"

The Four Horses

A white horse armed with a bow let loose; one red with a giant sword;
The white received the victors crown; for such was the will of The Lord;
Black horse of famine and pale horse of death; made up the four deployed;
To bundle the tares and gather the grain; before the tares were destroyed.
As black and pale fed; white fought against red; and uprooted tares accrued;
Taking spoil of theft; from lands they left; fleeing though none pursued;
With ill gotten gain; to cities they came; throughout all Laodicea;
It seemed such a sin; the worst were let in; but that was the whole idea.

And for 50 years the white horse and the red horse, fought all over the world, and wherever they fought, the black horse and the pale horse, (famine and death), were there with them.

Re "but that was the whole idea", Question : If you were GOD, and had part of the world earmarked for destruction, i.e. "Babylon", where would you stack the trash ?

Comments are wellcome.

I'll stick with my Greek Septuagint and 1550 Textus Receptus. These new fangled translations like the King James disturb the flow of the Greek.

If you need that many posts to explain away this thread title - you know it's an invalid idol that you have to defend like this

Tyndale wanted it in the common tounge - pretty sure he would be happy with a solid modern translation

Cooocaw, you do not correct the Holy Bible. You let the Holy Bible correct YOU!

The Authorized Version is the perfect word of God. And you need to submit to it, for it is the Absolute Final Written Authority.

Re: What about the "old fashioned" and even "archaic" language of the King James Bibl

We heard you the first time how many months ago? you still have not explained to me why this translation is objected to and why it is wrong.

Genesis 24:47: The "old" KJV reads: "I put the earring upon her face". But the NKJV has different plans for beautiful Rebekah: "I put the nose ring on her nose". Where did it get the ridiculous idea to "cannibalize" Rebekah? Just take a peek at the NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV!

And here are a couple of other changes I am struggling to see why its so evil, what agenda has satan got for these translation changes? taken from The New King James Bible: Counterfeit

John 14:2: (NKJV 1979 edition) change "mansions" to "dwelling places" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

Ezra 8:36: The KJV reads, "And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants. . ." The "much clearer" NKJV reads, "And they delivered the king's orders to the king's satraps. . ." Who in the world thinks "satraps" is "much clearer" than lieutenants? The NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV - they do! They put in the same "much clearer" word!

Hi CoooCaw. Well, of course you're happy to "correct" God's Book whenever you happen to have your own opinion or personal preference. That is why you are a Bible Rummager and an unbeliever in the infallibility of ANY Bible in any language. Every body today seems to think they are an expert. "In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own eyes." Judges 21:25

Nowadays it's "Every Man For Himself Bible Versionism"
Every Man for Himself Bible Versions - the HCSB, NET, ESV, NIV, TNIV, NKJV

Every Man for himself - Another King James Bible Believer

Re: What about the "old fashioned" and even "archaic" language of the King James Bibl

Hi Agricola. I agree with you. The NKJV is NOT the same as the King James Bible at all. It is just another perversion of God's words. Here are many more concrete examples of just how bad the ever changing NKJVs are. These are not a copy and paste from some other site. These are my own studies.

Is the NKJV the inerrant and 100% true Bible? Not a Chance!

NKJV same as KJB? - Another King James Bible Believer

God bless.

Yet another politicians answer. I asked the question "maybe you can explain why these changed verses are evil." Can you please explain to me why as I have no idea why these are perverted.

I though you did a pretty good job of explaining why the NKJV is wrong yourself. If you can't see the differences in meaning, maybe you should take a remedial English course. The NKJV is a fake bible. If you want to use it, go right ahead. But don't try to claim it is the inerrant words of God. It clearly is not if you had actually READ the link I gave you.

I really like the NKJV, it's a very solid Christian Bible. :)

Gen 24:47 Then I asked her, and said, ‘Whose daughter are you?’ And she said, ‘The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bore to him.’ So I put the nose ring on her nose and the bracelets on her wrists. 48 And I bowed my head and worshiped the Lord, and blessed the Lord God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the way of truth to take the daughter of my master’s brother for his son. (NKJV)

Clearly the NKJV is a very accurate and excellent translation.

Gen 24:16 Now the young woman was very beautiful to behold, ... (NKJV)

The essay at http://brandplucked.webs.com/nkjvsameaskjb.htm doesn't address Gen 24. :confused:

http://christianchat.com/bible-disc...n-ecumenical-homosexual-neo-nazi-agendas.html

The Real King James? :eek:

But what of King James 1, what kind of man was this who authorised the Authorised King James Version? Let us read what Sir Winston Churchill wrote of King James in his classic ‘History of the English Speaking People’: “James was much addicted to his favourites, and his attention to handsome young men resulted in a noticeable loss of respect for the monarchy”

It is little wonder :rolleyes: that in their quest to ordain homosexual and lesbian clergy the homosexual community are arguing that “gay people gave you your bible”!

wow you all know how to write some longgggg posts. I tried to read most of it. I like the KJV because it is the only version that does not have copywritten rights. Also is was authorized by a King. Yes, a worldly king, however if you believe the Word the Lord said he sets up all the powers and this is the only version that he chose a king for this matter.

Re: What about the "old fashioned" and even "archaic" language of the King James Bibl

Oh ,this is a fun one. You'll figure it out with this...
Tell me who lets. Satan cannot Let.
Let there be light, Let the waters under the Heaven be gathered..., Let the Earth bring forth grass...., Let there be lights in the firmament....,Let the waters bring forth abundantly..., all in Genesis
Iniquity is already at work, only he(The Lord) is allowing it (for a reason), then he(mystery of iniquity) will be taken out of the way.

The Man of God over me explained it like that.
