If Harry Potter is bad, why isn't "The Chronicles of Narnia"? Or even Cinderella. In Narnia, they have magic and in Fairy Tales they have magic. So does this mean we shouldn't read or watch anything with magic in it? I'm really confused about this because I enjoyed Harry Potter as a kid and now I'm worried that maybe other things are wrong. Please help me out with this. Thanks!
Ever heard of Wicca? According to the news of the day the Harry Potter series was written off of witchcraft ideas using real wiccan spells that the author dug up in her research. If one compares this to the benign magic presented in Cinderella and the obviously-evil portrayal of the witchcraft in the C.S. Lewis series (for all other magic was used by Aslan, the portrayer of God) it is reasonably obvious that the setting and theme are quite different.

As I said earlier, Harry Potter is nothing like witchcraft or Wiccan spells. Do you have a citation for this claim that Rowling based the magic in her books off of "real spells"? Because if so, she did a very crappy job.

Let me guess...... if someone determines it was all "white magic", that will make it all OK? That's the only thing I haven't heard to justify this mess.

It probably came from that White Magic yakyak that those fat, ugly wiccan gals do on their friday evening social club meetings where they bash men and Christians.

Cinderella is stereotyping women as to be weak, which should not be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Peter 3:7 "Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

IWR Bush - Bush Endorses Legalized Witch Burning

CRAWFORD, TX (IWR News) - President Bush today continued his attack on The Enlightenment by endorsing legalized witch burning.

"I have always been a strong proponent of States Rights. In fact, I'm still sorry we lost the Civil War.

But heck, if the people want to burn witches, I say 'Go for it!'.

After we have watered down science in the classroom by introducing prayers and teaching Intelligent Design, it will be a lot easier for folks to identify scapegoats without the overhead of scientific thinking.

If I had to use scientific methods for example, I never would have been able to justify the war in Iraq!

Just think how much better the world would be, if we could just burn suspicious minorities, homosexuals, trial lawyers, university professors, uppity women and liberals at the stake without having the burden of producing any scientific evidence.

People shouldn't worry about all this scientific mumbo-jumbo anyway.

If you listened to those idiot scientists, you'd think that the polar ice caps were melting and that the world revolves around the sun!

Now if you will excuse, Pickles and I going to spend the rest of our vacation trying to determine how many angels can dance on the head of a pin," said Mr. Bush.

Hilarious! I loved it! :D

I was just stating that its not such a crime to stereotype women as weak, because they are - even scripture supports this. (I'm not saying they're weaker than they already are, because that would be impossible - how can anything be weaker than it already is?) Feminine beauty, submission, weakness etc. is part of the God ordained natural order - don't get deceived by commie political correctness (i.e. feminist propaganda). :D

Point well made.

And never forget that putting the concepts of Song of Solomon into practice with your wife can go a long way in making her stronger.

In and from god's vantage point, how does God see us, as Jew, Gentile, male, female, weak, strong, or that we all just need him. God that is, not God needs us, rather we all need God. And from God's vantage point we are one in God correct. So why not leave this flesh garbage behind, and be alive in God, worshipping God in Spirit and truth, not stereotyping as flesh does and is our of order through it
Romans 2:29 but he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Ephesians 4:23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

One's mind set says it all, either one minds the things of the flesh or the Spirit of God.
[h=3]Romans 8[/h]Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [SUP]2 [/SUP]For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. [SUP]3 [/SUP]For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: [SUP]4 [/SUP]that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. [SUP]6 [/SUP]For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. [SUP]7 [/SUP]Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. [SUP]8 [/SUP]So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

And Rapists, prey on weak women, so why are women made to be prey, and man just continues to make women fodder for the evil to come on her. HMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! flesh is flesh and Spirit is Spirit.
I have decided to reckon me dead to self flesh and trust God to make me alive in God's Spirit, and you?

Thank you and yes Women need to be made strong in the Lord, by their free choice, not force. The women that I know that are strong in Faith in God through Son, Rapists avoid, and do not try, seeing that they will not cower in God. If we have more women strong in God, we would have less rapists. And there is a fine line in this strength, It is either of flesh or God's Spirit. God's Spirit is the strength, that I see we all need. I am weak, God is strong, God's grace is sufficient for me and I will glory in God's strength, loving God with all of God's strength, and thus the evil one can't touch you. Only if god allows for the purpose of God as shown in Job.

Why would one believe that ANY witchcraft is benign?

Practicing/ attempting spells or magic ( obviously. It magic tricks but you know what I mean) is wrong.
these are however made up stories and I see nothing wrong with them.
Narnia has a lot of similarities to Christianity. Not sure if you noticed but C.S.Lewis was a christian man who wrote the series of Narnia.
Northern lights written is written by an author Phillip Pullman who is an atheist. He wrote the series to try and turn people away from god.'i know this we not part of the discussion

It's a direct quote from Peter. Got a problem with quoting the bible?
No, Got a problem with interpretations, many times my own self being in the way in interpreting, talking to me, and each their own on their own interpretations. I just want God's point of view over man's, thanks
