Can't count the number of times some rap or metal some has lifted up and/or edified me in the down times to remind me that God is for me and caused me to grow closer to God just the same is any other 'traditional' worship song.

You haven't fully given up the world Breno. People try to establish their own righteousness instead of establishing Gods. God told Jeremiah, My ways are not your ways and My thought are not your thoughts.
So we can think we are doing Gods will but that is just the work of the enemy.
you're basing your judgement of his spiritual maturity on the basis of his saying that through music by a christian brother, he was encouraged & instructed by the Spirit?
does that go for anyone whose been blessed by reading the book of Psalms, too?
My wife and I are curious, for those who don't believe rock, rap or whatever cannot be made Christian, what music do you find acceptable to listen too? I'm sure we can find some common ground here

I'm not judging his spiritual life all I'm saying is emotions can get In the way and we think were doing the will of God.
Like if someone donates some money to a charity ...they gonna be happy about doing it and they will assume they will make it to heaven because they gave a certain amount of money. But we all know that it takes more than that to get to heaven. Samething with music.
People have emotional experiences all the time when listening to music...when I listened to rap it made me feel good...it made me feel that I can do what the rapper was doing and I can get money. But it was emotions that made me happy and edified Me. Any kind of music can get someone happy. But our feelings should only come from God. Our emotions should only be changed by God...not by rap or Christian rap or what ever. I will say that Christian rock or rap is a very shallow genre and I think its for those that have not had a deep experience with God. I'm just saying from experience. I been down that road and I tried to reason wit God when I listened to Christian rap....but He kept telling me I'm to close to the world and I need to give it up completely

Let the spirit guide u...if your truly seeking God and all his righteousness then the holy spirit will lead you to all truth and righteousness. Just listen and obey.

We were not all MoreNaturally born at the same time, so I cannot say what a person may or may not like, but I also know that it is not for me to judge; after all, I was fortunate enough to have a stable family life in my youth; Some people have a view of an alleyway in downtown Detroit, with a drug addicted single mother; some people are orphans.
I'm just glad and thankful that GOD ALMIGHTY helps my brothers and sisters with whatever it takes, to help them get through this hell hole.

Freak4jesus, you make a verry good point on your post but is till there; the king of evil rap/rock have fill the heart of God children with the worldly song, just look at the way people dressing now and the way there are walk change with titoon all the name of God must be swag in other for the devil to know that God is not left aside of the latest, all that word has be minister in they are mind, before they can change from it and it take God grace for them to change from that evil art. Galatians 6:7 said; Do not deceive yourselves; no one makes a fool of God. People will reap exactly what they sow. Those people who have be hold on captive those worldly song must be preach to. This is why i don't bother with these people. They are usually self righteous and pious and believe that everyone needs to abide by their standard. The love to misquote the bible, or take it out of context, but conveniently ignore the part of the bible that says that there are areas in life that are not equal for all people. That some things may be wrong for one person, but not for another. Its funny how they don't like to respond to that portion of the bible in the midst of all their out of context scripture twisting.
There is nothing inherently evil about a certain style of music, or a certain sound.
Though there are those that cleave to styles and sounds to justify themselves.
It's much like a child relying on a bottle.
Or a schoolboy relying on a chalkboard to tell them what to think, so they can pass the test. (Called lifelong student)
It is simplified that all who grow up, grow out of such things.

Yea, the closest they have come to that is melodic metal, which tends to be heavy on the harmonic minors.
A minor chord is to be juxtaposed against a major.
All of the melodic metal I have heard tends heavily toward the minor.
The third note of a scale is vastly important(it makes the chord major, minor or in conjunction with a flatted seventh - dominant).
Mozart out melodied any melodic heavy metal band or soloist by first presenting the theme in a major chord,....then switching to the minor (in the equivalent of the middle eight), and then back to the major.
But of course, he did it with such creativity and flourish that the very thought of a comparison is quite nonsensical.
For instance, he used something called 'dynamics', which in layman's terms equates to volume.
'pp'(soft) or 'ppp'(very soft) is nearly impossible for any heavy metal band.
